Our second stay at the cosy peacock. It's changed hands since our first visit and the new owners have made some further improvements to an already beautiful cottage including fully fencing in the garden and adding some stunning foliage, more seating and access to an outbuilding with a 240v socket in it if needed. The cottage has absolutely everything you need for a lovely relaxing holiday from a well equipped kitchen to the most comfy beds I think I have ever slept in!, cosy and comfortable sitting room on the first floor with stunning and dramatic views, TV and audio system and a lovely wood burner with a nights worth of firewood provided not that we used it this visit. 4 adults and 2 dogs stayed for a week and we absolutely loved it. A couple of cosy nights in with a home cooked meal, bottle of wine and a good chat in the lovely kitchen and a few out to both of the pubs nearby. They are easy walking distance and both are lovely country pubs with a warm welcome, hearty traditional pub grub and draught ales. They do get busy so booking is recommended for meals. Bedrooms are ample with hanging space hangers provided and there was a hair dryer in each room with lovely soft towels provided for each of us. There is a TV in each bedroom as well. There is a bathroom with shower toilet on the top floor and toilet wet room shower on the ground floor just off the kitchen. There was a lovely welcome basket in the kitchen on arrival with a locally made cake that was absolutely delightful and some bits and bobs to make your stay even more enjoyable. Our dogs were catered for as well with some little treats included and there was a double bowl set up in the kitchen for them if needed although we took all their own stuff. On our first stay 3 years ago there was a smell of dog especially in the upstairs lounge but that wasn't the case this time. The cottage was much cleaner and smelled nice. There are polite notices to keep your dogs off the furniture and not allow them in the bedrooms. Rightly so. Although our dogs are well behaved they are chancers, especially in an unfamiliar setting. They sleep in their own bed in our kitchen at home so I took some sections of our dog fencing we use with our touring caravan to put at the bottom of the staircase into the kitchen to ensure curiosity didn't get the better of them through night. They were just pups on our last visit so lesson learned with that. To be honest if the underfloor heating is on in the kitchen they were blissed out on it and you couldn't shift them if you tried! They absolutely loved the garden and it felt much safer for them with full fencing. Great and thoughtful communication with the property owners prior to arrival with great local info and just before we left with an emergency contact provided should it be needed. Don't be at all put off with any negativity about the access being tight. We came in a double cab pickup and managed no problem at all. Just take your time. Must doos at the property to make the most of your stay. Bottom carpark on a night time, resident owls usually make an appearance in the trees above your head if you sit quietly for a while. We got some great footage of them. Star gazing was incredible! Either from the top of the drive or the lower tiled terrace area at the end of the outbuilding next to the garden. Once the security lights go out and your eyes adjust you can see some stunning skys. Lots of wildlife around on this visit too. If you get a nice clear morning, take a cuppa down to the lower terrace next to the garden and sit for a while taking it all in. So peaceful. Without doubt we will book to come again and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.

We had a fantastic stay at the Cosy Peacock, so much so, that weve already booked again for next year! The cottage is in a brilliant location, surrounded by beautiful views. Inside, the cottage is very well appointed with everything you could possibly need and the bed is one of the most comfortable that I have slept in. The owners were very welcoming, getting in touch with us beforehand to wish us a lovely stay and letting us know to contact them if we needed anything. I couldnt recommend this property enough.

The Cosy Peacock is a lovely little cottage that deserves praise. The layout is quirky and absolutely perfect for a Lake District holiday, decorated lovely through out with excellent views across the Troutbeck valley. The cottage is spread out over three floors with its own enclosed garden which was perfect for our two little Westies, Angus and Winnie. We all had a very relaxing enjoyable stay and will definitely be coming back in the near future. The only negative is the drive way as its quite tight, especially if you have a big car. We managed to navigate it with ease as the week went on, but that first time was quite hairy. We were in a Land Rover Discovery Sport, anything bigger would definitely not squeeze down to the parking area at the bottom. Next door had a smaller VW Tiguan and were able to come and go easier than us. Just wanted to mention this as bigger cars will struggle. Would highly recommend.

Such a gorgeous traditional cottage with stunning views, couldnt fault anything, lovely welcome pack and everything supplied that we could have needed. Will 100 be back for another visit, the location is perfect, far enough away that you feel in the middle of nowhere but a short drive from gorgeous Ambleside & Windermere. Our pooch loved the secluded garden and we were blessed with stunning sunshine for our whole stay. Thank you for having us x

The Cosy Peacock is in a stunning location with awesome access to the main body of the Lakes. The accommodation is very well appointed and close to 2 Public Houses and a Delightful Tea Rooms in the village. We wanted walking and there are many varied walks straight from the door. The accommodation is over 3 floors with 2 bathshower rooms and a generous lovely sitting room with wonderful views of the surrounding hills. Be aware the driveway is quite steep and narrow but parking is good and easy to turn and there is a lovely garden for those with dogs.

Such a fab little cottage. Amazing views from lounge. Location is perfect in village, close by to two pubs, both of which are great. Secure garden for our dog which she loved although a very small dog could maybe get under fence in places. Driveway is steep but you get used to it. Kitchen well stocked with utensils etc. happily recommend

Nicely furnished cottage with excellent facilities it was perfect for our 3 night break ! Kitchen is well equipped , lounge had beautiful views & plenty of seating & the beds were large & comfortable with good quality bed linen. Well located for getting out & about. The enclosed garden was very useful with our dog & I'm sure in better weather would be a perfect spot to sit outside & enjoy the views! The driveway was very narrow & steep & with a very large car it was a bit tricky but we got used to it ! Owners communicated before our stay with useful information which was a lovely personal touch ! Would recommend !

Great location, very easy to get to a variety of places across the Lakes. House is generally clean and tidy. Great view out of the lounge window. Kitchen is relatively small but perfectly adequate. Would stay again.

Super comfortable cottage in a great location. Great walks and two super pubs. The safely fenced in garden was very much appreciated for our dogs.

We have visited the Cosy Peacock five times now and its always great. Its really wellequipped, welcoming and warm, the location is terrific for walks, access to the two pubs, views from the living room windows. The house has very good quality facilities and soft furnishings and recent little improvements have made a difference. We were delighted to arrive, sad to leave and will be back!

This is a fabulous cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location. The attention to detail was incredible there is nothing that we could have wanted and we really appreciated the luxury provided in this property. The outside space is great although the weather meant we couldnt make best use of it! We would definitely love to return to the Cosy Peacock in the future. Troutbeck is a brilliant place to stay if you like to be away from the busy towns but also be within easy reach when needed.

Stunning cottage in the most beautiful surroundings with fantastic views. The cottage is beautifully laid out with everything you need, comfortable settees and beds with luxurious bedding. The enclosed garden is great for dogs and lovely seating areas for humans too. Two great pubs both walking distance serving great food both dog friendly, The Mortal Man serves great home cooked food. Fabulous walks from the door if you dont want to get in the car. Everything you need for a fabulous stay in the Lakes.

We had a great week at the Cosy Peacock made all the more enjoyable by a week of sunshine! The cottage is in a stunning location with views to match anywhere. The drive has been mentioned previously due to being narrow and steep but as with many of the roads in the Lakes just taking it steady posed no issue and has plenty of parking space at the foot of the drive. The cottage is very comfortable and a bonus having two bathrooms and showers. The middle floor has a spacious living room with fantastic views with a large bay window sitting area. The garden was a decent size for Troutbeck and fully enclosed for anyone bringing a dog. Well be recommending a stay at the Cosy Peacock to family and friends.

This is a beautiful little cottage with everything you could need for a relaxing base for your holiday. A great deal of thought and effort has gone into making the Cosy Peacock a modern yet homely place. We didn't take our dogs but it is very dog friendly. Will definitely go again.

The Cosy Peacock serves as an excellent starting point for exploring The Lake District. Located in Troutbeck, it is conveniently close to two great pubs, the Mortal Man and the Queen's Head, both of which are worth visiting! The house is wellfurnished, featuring ample comfortable seating, a wellequipped kitchen, and good quality beds and bathrooms! Most importantly, it offers stunning views, parking facilities, and a fenced garden for our dog! I would certainly return and highly recommend it to others seeking a tranquil getaway!

We had the most wonderful relaxing break at the Cosy Peacock, the views from the balcony in the front room are beautiful, the whole property is well looked after and all needs are catered for, we were very fortunate during our stay to have lots of sunshine and got to enjoy the patio and garden areas. We will most certainly be booking to go back, as is it a truly lovely place where you feel at home, the owners were very helpful and informative before our arrival and during if we needed anything and the welcome back was a lovely touch. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful inside and out holiday home.

Absolutely lovely cottage with stunning views. Beautifully renovated, it has character AND comfort! Everything in the cottage was high quality and it was clean & well maintained. A real bonus was the garden it was big with benches to make the most of the views and sun throughout the day. It is worth noting that the drive is awkward as its narrow and on a slopebut we got used to it! Great personalised communication from the owner wit prearrival info showed real commitment to customer service. Overall, we loved the place & would definitely return!

We enjoyed a most comfortable stay in The Cosy Peacock. It was tastefully furnished and every amenity was of a high standard. There are views of the fields and the fells from the lounge windows on the first floor and it was lovely to see deer grazing there. We would highly recommend a stay in this cottage.

We loved the Cosy Peacock. Main highlight of cottage is the spectacular view from the lounge. The cottage was tastefully furnished and relaxing to spend time in. The drive into parking space was a little challenging but we have found this to be an issue in other properties in Troutbeck.

Such a lovely cottage. Lovely location with 2 really good pubs within walking distance. The cottage was comfortable with all the comforts of home. I will definitely consider booking again if I stay in this area in the future. One tiny negative is that the parking at the cottage wasn't easy, especially for larger cars, maybe this should be mentioned prior to booking rather than in the arrival information.

The Cosy Peacock is a really beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. It is furnished, decorated and appointed to a very high standard and, in addition, the owners supply a number of thoughtful little extras which help to get your break off to a good start. The driveway is steep, but can be negotiated with due care and the offroad parking is perfectly adequate. We loved the comfort and tranquility that the cottage provides and, all in all, feel that it was very good value for money. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful place, thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas stay, the tree was a lovely touch too. It had everything we needed and wanted.

Great little cottage. Comfortable and well equipped with great views out the back. Enjoyed our stay very much. Quiet location but with two pubs in walking distance. Had good meals in both. On our last day walked into Ambleside and got a taxi back. Amber taxis very good and were happy to take our dog. Very helpful communication from the owner with tips and recommendations. The drive is narrow in places but soon got the hang of it.

This is a lovely cottage and three storey living space. Comfy sofas and lovely bed. Heating takes a little figuring and was set rather low for freezing temperatures but works fine once adjusted. Lovely walks from the location and a taxi 15 to town or posh restaurants. Driveway is steep and tricky so patience is required. A couple of pinch points could be adjusted. Ill do the work for a weeks stay Ha! We would go again and had a fabulous stay. Roasting chestnuts in the log burner was a treat. Well equipped throughout and to criticise would be churlish as its generally lovely. Lovy views and Juliette balcony. Have fun! We did sooo romantic

Lovely cottage to stay. Everything is perfect except the driveway is definitely a challenge especially for an SUV. Perhaps you could cut back the sharp stone that protrudes on the right side as you are going down the driveway plus the right corner at the top of the driveway when leaving. Otherwise we loved it! Lovely views, nicely renovated cottage. Well equipped kitchen. Everything is lovely.

Just spent a week at the Cozy Peacock and what a lovely cottage this is. Peaceful with stunning views. The cottage is very comfortable with all mod cons. There is also a very pleasant large garden. As the cottage allows pets, I would recommend to the owner that a baby gate is installed at the bottom of the stairs heading up to the bedrooms this will ensure pets dont stray in the night. Would highly recommend the Cozy Peacock to anyone looking to stay in beautiful Troutbeck, there are also two excellent pubs within walking distance. Would we book again Yes.

The cottage is beautiful with stunning views and peace and quiet yet with in walking distance of two excellent hotels serving good food. The drive down to the property is narrow but once at the bottom plenty of space to park

Perfect stay, at a wonderful property. Owners helpful and welcoming, Troutbeck is a great base above Windermere with fantastic walks from the front door. We loved it and so did our dog, home from home.A

Unfortunately we had a bad start to our stay at the cottage. The bathrooms were not very clean. The toilets needed cleaning. We arrived on the Saturday and housekeeping came out on the monday with a welcome pack which was left on the dining table, and they cleaned the bathrooms. The mattress protector was too small for the super kingsize bed. This was reported to Sykes and was never rectified. The blind in the master bedroom was Mouldy, which was taken down on the Wednesday. Therefore I slept on the sofa due to having a partially collapsed lung and low immune system. The owners tried their best to rectify the issues but Sykes really didn't act very quickly at all. It really quite ruined our holiday, and was not worth 5 sykes ticks.

We had a lovely stay at the cosy peacock, surrounded by beautiful countryside, with a lovely outside seating area to have a glass of wine & enjoy the views. It is a very peaceful location, but within easy reach from Ambleside & other places around Windermere. There is two lovely country pubs within walking distance, serving good food from both, although we preferred the Mortal Man for the outside seating with stunning views. The cottage itself was very comfortable, especially the beds. The kitchen was well equipped & had everything we needed & the bathrooms had excellent showers. Although the cottage was snug, we had plenty of room for 4 adults & 2 dogs. All in all we had a wonderful week at the lovely cosy peacock & would highly recommend.
