Brunton Lodge Reviews

Gwendoline
Beautiful property well equipping, amazing family friendly garden and patio. 5min walk into Bowness
Robert
Very nice stay, noisy as it is very close to a busy road .
Rebecca
We loved Cottage layout and furnishings, conservatory opening out onto patio, the easy walk into town especially the ferry to Far Sawrey, bike storage. We would have liked electric car charging, wooden spoons. This was a brilliant cottage and we had an utterly marvellous holiday
Our eleventh and sadly our last stay as Brunton Lodge is now for sale. Thanks Heidi and Darren for sharing your lovely cottage over the years. We will miss not coming back. Good luck for the future and thanks for the goodies which were much appreciated. All the best Dave, Jane, Steve & Judy.
What a wonderfully beautiful lodge, very clean & tidy. Cosy in the evenings. Has everything we needed for a lovely week in the Lakes. Close to all eateries in BownessOnWindermere. We will definitely be back.
This was a lovely home for our week long holiday in the lakes. We were two couples and a toddler. The house was spotless and well stocked. The kitchen was one of the better equipped kitchens Ive seen at selfcatering accommodation with plenty of utensils, pots and pans, and other necessities. The bedrooms were comfortable, and again, very clean. The garden was lovely in nice weather, and served as a great space for the toddlers first Easter egg hunt! The walking proximity to Bowness was fantastic, but it also served as a great base for day trips our nearby as well.
Patricia
Lovely house and enjoyable stay. However, the pillows are flat and need replacing and have needed replacing for some time.as they have been like this on previous visits. I had to remove the overpowering joss sticks on arrival..the smell was truly awful. Please think about a permanent removal of these dreadful things. Not everyone can tolerate them. Thank you.
George
We felt the owner went the extra mile in making us feel welcome with gifts and beverages etc. Only suggested improvement could be bigger duvets on the double beds. Our stay was in the winter, but we felt this house would be even better in the summer with the outdoor seating and garden.
Another great visit to Brunton Lodge!
Jacqui
Brunton Lodge on the whole was lovely m, comfortable and warm. We liked the conservatory. However, the downstairs toilet is extremely small, has no hot water or heating. The main upstairs bathroom has a step down into it, which is fine if you remember and are focused when entering I accidentally fell in the night in the dark and again when carrying something. There is a huge sign on the door. The bunk bed room radiator never got warm, but an electric radiator was provided.
Johanna
Cottage was lovely, clean and well equipped. Ample parking for two large cars, short 5 minute walk into town, yet far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. Great rear porch for getting out of wet coats and muddy boots, straight in to utility room ideal for The Lakes.
Alison
Our second stay. We love it and have already booked for next year.
Would love a larger fridge or second fridge. We dont want to keep shopping 6 of us so need to store food and of course drinks. We are in our 70 s so bending into fridge difficult. Patio set in need of attention and some patio slabs were loose. But it didnt stop us enjoying the house for the third time. Will come again!
Our tenth stay at Brunton Lodge still waiting for a discount

There was work going on at next property which I know is outwith your control but would have been good to have advanced notice, we took my 7 month pregnant daughter in law thinking it would be nice and peaceful for her which it wasn't resulting in her and my son going home early. The parking also was not as private as I expected also resulting in other people parkingblocking us in. Lovely property but don't think we will be back unsure if I would book again with sykes cottages as you must have been aware of all this prior to our arrival

Brunton Cottage is really cosy and convenient whatever the weather
Tracey
We had a really lovely stay at Brunton Lodge. Great location, close enough to walk into Bowness or to the lake within a few minutes. We loved sitting in the conservatory watching the birds in the garden. It was so warm and cosy and well looked after. We will definitely be back!
Superb all round
We are regular visitors to this property and once again we had a great week. Highly recommended!
Initially I was worried that there may be noise from the road or the builders working on the house next door, neither were any problem at all, the road was very quiet and the builders next door were polite and considerate. The house is beautiful, well maintained, very comfortable, has everything you would ever need and was clean and warm for our arrival. My three year old granddaughter loved playing with all the toys and games which were provided if you are travelling with young children they are very well catered for in this property, safety gates, plastic plates beakers, high chair etc. We had a really enjoyable short break and wished we could have stayed longer, thank you!
Alison
Property was exactly as described. Well kept, clean and comfortable. We intend to book it again in the not to distant future.
Colette
Just home from a fabulous few days in the Lakes staying at this property. I'd absolutely recommend it, we felt at home so quickly and it was even better than appeared on the website. Lovely, comfortable home with all the facilities we needed and a great garden to spend time in.
Darren
We had a lovely stay in a beautiful home . Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Will definitely be recommending
Patricia
Their was initially a problem with the central heating over two days however it was sorted out immediately and we were very pleased at the very quick response of the maintenance crew. However, the owneryourselves need to be aware that the heating in the main bathroom is non existent. The underfloor heating simply is not working and the so called heat generated from the towel rail is a joke. Instructions in the bathroom for the towel rail just do not work.therefore, bathing and showering in this cold weather was most unpleasant. It needs fixing and fast. Apart from this, the stay at Brunton was lovely.
We had a lovely stay however did find afew things disappointing, The house was very cold in certain rooms. The children complained of being cold and the main bedroom never seemed to warm up. The downstairs utility, toilet and garden room were freezing. The house is advertised with a real fire but no welcome logs or anything at all were left and no notes,so we were unsure whether this was allowed to be used. This said the location of the house is great with just a short walk in and out to Bowness and the house itself was very clean and had everything in it. Lots of games for the children were provided which was super. We would stay again but probably in the warmer months.
Christopher
Excellent location and superb facilities at the house with everything that we needed including washing machine and tumble dryer in utility area. Kitchen very well equipped including dishwasher. Only thing missing was a corkscrew so we were unable to open our bottle of wine.
This is without doubt the best holiday cottage that we have ever stayed in! We could not fault the cleanliness or the facilities. It felt like a home away from home. We will definitely be back.
A bit confused re. recycling requirements but sorted anyway. Set off the kitchen alarm several times on entering the conservatory perhaps it is just a heatwave phenomenon! Really lovely family home with excellent facilities and lots of room.
Our eighth visit to this lovely property. Ideally situated for easy access to the town and lake. Great facilities and very comfortable, we will be booking again for next year.
What a lovely place to stay. We all had a lovely time and the house and garden are both perfect. Great location. Small area to improve would be the mattress on the bunk bed which needs replacing. I saw that another review mentioned this some months ago and it has not changed since then. Cannot wait to go back though! Thank you.
Yvonne
Everything we could possibly have wished for was provided. Cant recommend highly enough!
Elizabeth
The property was very comfortable and well equipped. Our only reservation was that the drive was under construction as a swimming pool was being installed in a neighbouring property. The workmen were very accommodating but the entrance to the drive , which was not very wide in the first place, was even more restricted and in fact our car suffered damage . You might also note that the Burnside Hotel, which was cited as a landmark, is no longer called that. A small point we brought more equipment e.g. oven cloth, tea towels, bin bags etc. than was necessary as they were listed as required.
We have stayed at Brunton Lodge several times, just love this property and make good use of the conservatory , especially on a wet day. Sure to return again. Thankyou.
Jasmin
Lovely comfortable stay, felt like a home from home as the property has everything you would need. Especially well catered to little ones, would highly recommend this stay
Darren
Our 2nd visit to this lovely property,on this occasion a new year stay,a nice touch with a Xmas tree in the living room and a lovely Xmas hamper in the kitchen to enjoy. This is a fantastic home to enjoy a stay in the lakes. Everyone enjoyed the accommodation and only one thing to pick up on,the lower mattress in the bunk beds possibly needs changing as it felt sunken in the middle... apart from that, overall a great stay, we'll be back again in the future.. Many thanks, the steels family.
This is a great place came for Christmas and Christmas tree put up for us. We will come again so much to see and do even with out going out in the car. Did not cook anything with very good eating places in walking distance. It made the day on Christmas morning we had snow first thing.
Brilliant location, good parking spaces, beautiful gardens, lovely lodge, plenty ... Brilliant location, good parking spaces, beautiful gardens, lovely lodge, plenty of activities provided such as books and games
Stayed at Brunton Lodge 8 years ago and returned this year. Was not disappointed. The house is very homely and well equipped and the location in Bowness is perfect, quiet and private yet easy walking to all the shops and restaurants can leave the car.
Excellent property. Well furnished and comfortable. Beautiful garden.
