Wheatlands Cottage Reviews

This is an excellent property that is extremely comfortable and well equipped. The location is excellent with all that Windermere has to offer so close but your tucked away. An absolute gem.
Property was in a lovely quiet location only a minutes walk to Windermere village centre and a short stroll down to the Lake. We had all we needed in the property to make the stay comfortable and would definitely book again.
Pauline
We've been coming to The Lakes annually for almost 30 yrs, sometimes twice a year, and this cottage is the perfect location. We travelled by train and this is only a 510 min walk away. All amenities in Windermere are so very close with a lovely off road walk into Bowness. Orest Head is also worth the walk to the top with great views of the lake. The cottage self had everything we needed. The informationleaflets were useful and informative. We couldn't fault any of it. Thank you Anne for the yummy cake too. You could say it was 'the icing on the cake' of a great holiday.
The cottage was a fantastic place to stay for a relaxing week in the Lakes. It was extremely clean, comfortable and homely. The cottage is situated in a peaceful position but within easy reach of shops and restaurants. The delicious cake provided was a lovely touch. We will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Windermere.
This is a lovely cottage, set in a quiet private road only a few steps from the centre of town.
This is our second visit to Wheatlands Cottage. It is clean, smart and exceptionally well maintained. The bed is extremely comfortable and it has everything we need for an enjoyable holiday. It is well located. The buses stop at the end of the lane. Although it is in the heart of the town of Windermere it is quiet and secluded. There is car parking and a small patio area which is sheltered and has shade when required. The owners are lovely people. I unreservedly recommend it.
We had a lovely week at Wheatlands Cottage. It is a welcoming, homely cottage. Everything you need was there, a home from home. Good communication with the property owner. Very quiet location but within a short walking distance from the shops and restaurants. We would thoroughly recommend this property.
Lovely cottage . Regrettably had to leave early due to personal reasons. Did let Ann know.
Debbie
Fabulous stay. Lovely cottage with great facilities and necessary equipment. Great location to walk from the door or tour around by car. Quietly situated, but close to shops, eateries etc a walk away. Would definitely recommend to anyone and we would return any time. Anne was lovely and a welcoming host. All in all
A lovely comfortable and well equipped cottage. Pleasant raised bed gardens with a nice patio and furniture making it very relaxing. Situated down a quiet lane and yet only a short walk to the village and shops. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
Stephen
Thank you Anne and David for the cake and chocolates. Wheatlands Cottage is great, I loved it. Good driveway parking and the little patio garden to sit in. Location of the cottage could not be better it is literally paces to the end of the lane and you are right in the centre of Windermere, no big steep hill climbs back to this property. The cottage itself is also very comfortable nothing has been forgotten by the owners. I will definitely be booking again.
Robert
Excellent cottage in a great location. All you need in the cottage for a comfortable stay. We have stayed in many properties over the years & this is up there with the best. The Lemon Drizzle cake which was left for us was delicious, thank you Anne. We look forward to a return visit.
Yvonne
Wheatlands cottage was superb. Lovely little bungalow 2 minutes from Windermere but I a quiet location with parking. The hosts were lovely and the bed so comfortable. We would definitely recommend and hope to return.
Philip
This would have been a straight 5 review. The location with private parking is excellent and the property is nicely laid out and equipped internally, with a log burner, ensuite to the bedroom and a separate bathroom with bathshower and wc. However, we were somewhat disappointed by the quality of the beddingpillows, the very soft mattress, the ensuite wc which had a flushing fault and the sticking wardrobe door. Overall cleanliness was to a good standard but the area around the log burner was quite dusty. These are all relatively minor and easily remedied issues but were enough to shave a star off the score.
The location and property were outstanding. Tucked quietly away from the main road we had a wonderful stay. The cottage was spotless, comfortable and cosy. We hope to come again soon. Thank you to Annie for all her help and the delicious cake.
Kenneth
We have stayed at Wheatlands Cottage before and it is of a high standard. The cottage is fully equipped and in an excellent location. We would stay again in the future.
Lovely place and location. Would suggest swapping the curtains as we found the bedroom very bright at 600am but sitting room much darker.
Once again, We had a lovely time at Wheatlands Cottage, We love it, That's why we keep on coming back for more! The homemade cake was lovely, a real treat after a long days walking. The cottage was lovely, clean ,tidy, lovely towels and it has everything you need and more The parking and patio are great assets to the cottage. Close to the shops, cafes etc Thankyou to Anne and David.
Patricia
We stayed at Wheatlands over Christmas. The cottage was tastefully decorated with some thoughtful touches a card, crackers, sweets and Annes delicious lemon cake. The weather was wet and windy, but we were warm and cosy by the log fire. We walked straight from the cottage, through woodland down to the lake, up to Biskey Howe viewpoint and on to sections of the scenic Dales Way. A short drive away, the arts and crafts house, Blackwell, is a real gem. We had cosy meals in, as the cottage is very well equipped and Booths supermarket is just up the road. Thank you, Anne and David. Wheatlands Cottage has been perfect for our Christmas break.
We had a lovely stay at Wheatlands cottage it offered everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. It is in a quiet location just off the centre of Windermere but not too far away from the centre where you can enjoy the shops and eateries of Windermere.
Once again we have had a lovely week at Wheatlands Cottage in Windermere. Anne and David take pride in keeping the cottage at its best all year round. The cottage was lovely and clean, Nice and warm, Lovely soft towels and the bath is a bonus. Oh yes...Don't forget the homemade cake, We'd book again just for the cake! It is in a perfect location, About a 2 minute walk away from cafes, shops, bus stops etc and has its own private parking which is a big plus. Thanks so much again Anne and David.
Christine
This is a lovely comfortable cottage to spend your weeks holiday in. It is a real home from home. It has everything you need to make your stay relaxing. You are close to Windermere and all its amenities, and its just a short walk down to Bowness. We will definitely be booking a further stay.
This is our first stay at Wheatlands although we have stayed a number of times at the owners other cottage. Both cottages are spotlessly clean and fully equipped for a self catering stay. The mattress is of high quality and very comfortable. Wheatlands is very conveniently located close to the centre of Windermere village. There is no need to use the car as the buses are frequent and stop nearby. The cottage is situated in a quiet lane and it is easy to walk to the lake if you are energetic. There is a sunny patio and last but by no means least the owner provides a delicious homemade cake to welcome you.
A lovely cottage and so peaceful yet only a short walk away from town. Everything was so clean and the lemon cake very welcome to have with a cuppa after a day out. The owners have put a lot of thought into what people might want need which was much appreciated. Coming out of the driveway is a bit of a challenge due to the narrow road gateposts certainly takes more than a three point turn. I would certainly recommend this lovely cottage and hope to return in the future.
Kenneth
We have stayed at Wheatlands Cottage before and would stay again. The cottage is in an ideal location and all facilities are provided. We could not suggest any improvement as we think everything is ideal as far as we are concerned.
Such a lovely cottage in a great location. Been back many times and will continue to do so. The cottage was lovely and clean, plenty of towels, a super comfy bed and the homemade chocolate cake! Yum. The cottage has a private parking space which is a bonus. Its very near to the shops ,cafes, bus stops etc. This cottage feels like home really! Thanks to Anne and David for a lovely stay once again!
A comfortable, immaculately clean and well equipped cottage in a quiet location but conveniently placed for shops and eating places. A cottage which we would happily return too. As an EV drivers we were pleased with the fast charging points at the local Booths supermarket.
This is our 7 th Stay at Wheatlands The cottage was excellent as normal
Another lovely stay at wheatlands cottage, this time, with a homemade chocolate cake to greet us! Perfect! Everything about the cottage is ideal, it's very clean, got its own parking space, very close to the shops, cafes etc in windermere, don't go telling too many people about it though! The bed was so comfy, the cottage lovely and warm with lovely decor and everything you need in it. We wish a week lasted longer! Thanks again. Xx
The cottage was very nice with a really comfortable bed. The location was perfect we used the buses all week and once parked didn't move the car until we left. We will hopefully return a week was not long enough!
Excellent property great location great facilities very welcoming and comfortable.
We have had a wonderful stay! We were really pleased about the location of Wheatlands cottage. In the beautiful village Windermere, near by shops, restaurants and public transport, but with enough privacy and quietness. And at walk distance from the Lake and beautiful view points. We came from the Netherlands by train and travelled through the Lake District by bus. The bus stop near the cottage was perfect, with multiple busses stopping every hour! The cottage itself was really clean and all the facilities needed were there. The only thing we missed was an European power plug. Thanks a lot for the stay!
Lovely clean cottage with everything we needed. Excellent location being just a short walk from Windermere village so easy for eating out in the evening. Private parking which is a must and a good base from which to explore all over the Lake District. Perfect for the two of us, thank you!
Graham
We found the rooms very dark. We felt the outdoor patio was not attractive and light restricted by overhanging trees and the shed. The photo showing it in full sunshine is misleading as we sat out in the evening a couple of times but the patio claustrophobic with no attractive view. The location of the cottage is excellent being a hundred yards or so from the town centre and close to bus stops which we used a lot.
Heather
We had a nice week in this very comfortable cottage. All very clean and an extremely comfortable bed also having 2 bathrooms was a great asset. A delicious lemon cake left by the owners was a very nice touch and much appreciated. Good selection of DVDs was useful as our weather was not good.
Ashley
Beautifully appointed cottage in very quiet and secluded location but right in the heart of the town. Quality furnishings and fittings make this a home from home stay. Compact but spacious Wheatlands has everything you need for a delightful stay.
All we can say its a fantastic lovely cottage.
Kenneth
Wheatlands Cottage is in a great location just minutes from the centre of Windermere and everything you need is provided. The property benefits from off road parking giving you the freedom to explore further afield by car. The bus service is close by. I would recommend Wheatlands Cottage for a good place to stay.
Kenneth
Wheatlands Cottage was very clean and everything that you could possibly need was provided. The cottage is very spacious and in a quiet location but minutes from Windermere village and a good location in general. Having private parking is also good as not all properties are able provide this and you can travel by car knowing you can park on your return. A nice cake was provided on our arrival and would certainly look to return next year.
