The owners have done a fantastic job with their property in helping to make guests feel comfortable. Local information about the area is placed around the property. The property was super clean and everything that you could need home from home was available to use. The decoration was professional and muted colours for relaxed mood. First night was an issue as radiators were not working in each of the 2 bedrooms and these rooms were extremely cold. Especially for my 82 year old mother. This I resolved by purchasing a radiator key from screwfix in Kendal the next morning and bleeding the air from the radiators. This is the only issue we had, so as much at the time it was an issue, I resolved it and did not have any issues with the property. Of course a few tweaks could be done to improve the property a little, but I would not mention them as I am sure the owners know what they are and I am sure they have plans to do do the improvements. They seem to know what they are doing. For anyone that are looking for a decent , smart , homely property to stay, than look no further. This would suit anyone. We would defiantly stay again, if we could endue the 8 hour drive again. We did break a Mug accidently, but we did purchase a replacement and left this for the owner. We found the Sykes cottage message service on this issue absolutely useless. Which makes me wonder that if there was a serious issue, Sykes cottage support service would not be good enough! Kudos to owners of this cottage. You are doing a great job with your property.

Overall stay was good, theres a couple of issues with the property that could be easily fixed to make it a great stay. The heating it gets cold in February and the two bedroom radiators dont heat well, with a baby this was a concern. The high chair at the property needed screws tightened up and straps scrubbed with bleach to make it usable. The ceiling light in the main bedroom has wires exposed, the hairdryer PAT test is overdue with wires exposed, tiles on the fireplace surround damaged, TV in living room could do with an upgrade, only 1 shelf in the oven and 1 oven tray available. This isnt me looking for issues, just what I happened to notice during our stay. Location is great, price is reasonable, cleanliness good. We have stayed a couple of times before and are booked to stay again later this year, just wish a few of the above points could be addressed.

The pictures undersell how beautiful this cottage is! Location is perfect 10mins walk to Windermere and less than 20 mins to Bowness. I had a issue on the first day, no water from the hot tap rather than contact Sykes that night, I rang in the morning and all was rectified along with two radiators not working that day. I am in agreement with previous travellers a smart tv where you have facilities to sign in into you own account along with a better spec on mattress toppers as the bed is quite firm would be advantageous. But not a deal breaker! Head to crafty baa Windermere and the flying pig Bowness both dog friendly and cracking food and now the tapas restaurant Bodega Bar & Tapas Bowness also allows dogs. Had a fantastic brunch in Homegrounded but always people waiting to be seated and not dog friendly but can appreciate why with both space and popularity. I would highly recommend this cottage and will be returning

A lovely cottage with everything you could need. The listing doesn't do it justice! It was beautifully decorated for Christmas which made it feel like home for our week stay. Location is awesome, 10 mins walk to either Bowness or Windermere, we barely used the car as so much to do and see, along with great walks on your doorstep.

We had a lovely stay at Fern Bank Cottage. Very clean and great location. There were a few things that can be improved to make it one of the best places weve stayed. Agree with other reviews on the mattress, definitely could do with an upgrade. After reading the reviews, we took our own topper which I think helped. The TV needs updating, its not a smart tv and couldnt get Netflix, Prime, BBC iPlayer etc to work. And the fridgefreezer. We had to turn it up to make the fridge work and the door of the freezer did not shut properly. A light in the back garden area would be helpful too especially with the dark morningsnights. We would definitely stay again but perhaps a shorter stay rather than a week.

Fern Bank Cottage is wonderful! The photos dont do it justice. Very comfortable house, its warm and cosy. Lovely fire in living room, heating system so easy to use. The kitchen is well equipped. The hand rails were so well thought of and so helpful for my elderly mam. Bedrooms were lovely, spacious and lots of storage. Excellent location! Will definitely be back. Thank you!

Great location midway between Windermere and Bowness with a bus stop and great service on the doorstep. Booked again for next year so what can we say....

Fern Bank Cottage was just like it was advertised. Clean spacious lovely decor quaint and quirky touches with pictures ornaments etc.I loved the Cludgy outside loo . Very handy when sitting outside or inside saved climbing the stairs. Well located for walking into the town . Close to all amenities and the attractions off Bowness on Windermer and the rest off the Lakes depending on what you chose to do . We both enjoyed a very relaxed and strees free break just what we needed. We will be back in the future .

Fern Cottage is truly a home from home, all the comforts and little extra's make it a lovely holiday cottage to stay in. Thank you for another lovely visit to the Lakes and a snug cottage to come home to after a day out walking with the pups.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fern Cottage. Well equipped, great location in the middle for Bowness or Windmere. Comfy beds, fabulous bath and shower. Only little gripe is the bin in the kitchen needs a really good clean and there is not much space to put your food on in the kitchen as there are lots of personal effects on the shelves so personally I think they could be cleared to allow guests to put food on etc. but apart from that it was fab and we will be going back in the future.

Fern Bank cottage was delightful. It had everything you could possibly need for the four of us and the dog. It was great having the 2 bathrooms and the master bedroom was so spacious. The only tiny thing I could complain about is that the mattress in the master bedroom wasn't very comfortable, but that did not impact on our lovely break at all. The cottage is in good walking distance from Bowness and Windermere town. We highly recommend brunch at Rum Nicky Brunch Kitchen & Terrace, just a few mins walk from the house. It was fabulous. We would definitely be happy to return to this lovely cottage and would be happy to recommend it to family and friends.
