Nice break thank you. Warm welcome from owner and cottage nice and warm. Lots of good walks from the door and handy pub for a drink on the way back. Shower and tap in bathroom and tap in kitchen could all do with a plumber adjusting them as all have issues. But would come again.

We enjoyed our weeks stay in High Fold. The cottage is warm, cosy and quirky. The owner is friendly and helpful. Troutbeck is a great base for walks. There is a pub in the village which is about a 15 minute road walk away but no footpaths. Just a few negatives. The cooker hood is fairly low and protrudes a little too much. On several occasions we accidentally made contact with it. The shower connection hose was leaking at the shower head. A small fridge freezer would have been more useful than the small fridge. This may not be practical because of space limitations. We had difficulty with the TV, selecting channels. The instructions given didn't seem to work. All in all, the cottage is really nice and I can recommend it.
We were given a very warm welcome from Christine when we arrived which was much appreciated. The cottage is warm very generously warm! and cosy, for which we were very grateful when we came back from walking on the fells in the rain! It is a very old property which means it has quirky features creaky floorboards, ancient front door ... but this gives it character. Troutbeck is a beautiful old village and a great base for many walks in the locality, plus there are two good pubs and a lovely tearoom up the road. Collecting and returning the key from Windermere is a bit of a hassle but wouldn't put us off coming again.
This was the great holiday cottage for a solo traveller ,with all the facilities you need. To make it absolutely perfect and when upgrading the property the owner may want to consider changing the television to a smart version, replacing the fridge freezer with a larger fridge and sorting out the creaky floorboard in the bathroom. These changes would improve what is a fabulous property and I had a great stay.
A lovely stay, cosy, character filled, well equipped, warm and a great base for visiting local attractions and walks. We would highly recommend.
Superb property in a lovely rural location. Christine is a wonderful host and the property is warm, cosy and well equipped. Beautiful walks are on the doorstep with the convenience of being a short drive from Windermere. Definitely recommend this B&B if you want to get away from it all.

Lovely little cottage! Very cosy and clean and with everything that you need for a short holiday! It would be nice to have a smart TV to be able to access Netflix, other than that everything was perfect!
We had a wonderful week at this cosy cottage. There is a lovely tearoom just down the road, and plenty of walks close by. In a great position to visit all the tourist spots too!
The cottage was just perfect for what we wanted. The location was great in the centre of Troutbeck. We were able to do different circular walks everyday from the cottage. There was a great local cafe which had a small shop to buy essentials. We also had 2 local pubs in walking distance, which served great food and drink. We also had great weather for our week. Many thanks to Christine for her local information and helpfulness.

Fabulous stay in an excellent cottage. All facilities are there and the location is perfect for a relaxing get away.
We loved our stay at High Fold. The cottage is extremely cosy, warm and comfortable. The location is beautiful. The owner came to greet us and was very friendly and helpful, especially as bad weather was forecast and she gave us tips about which roads to use if it became icysnowy. There are two nice pubs a 2025 minute walk away and we also walked into Windermere which took about 90 minutes. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and the owner offered to provide anything we needed which wasn't in the house we didn't need to take her up on that. We brought our own condiments and basic food supplies as we always do but washing up liquid, kitchen roll, loo roll, bin bags etc were provided. Would definitely recommend a stay here, especially if you want peace & quiet and don't mind a short drive to the larger areas.
This is the second time we've stayed in the cottage so needless to say it was perfect for what we needed. Comfortable and well situated for walks etc. Ideal for a single person or a couple. The owner lives adjacent to the cottage and is very friendly and helpful. A nice place to stay in the Troutbeck valley.
Lovely cosy cottage in a great location. I really enjoyed my stay. Just a couple of slight improvements. There was absolutely nothing in the house when i arrived I could not even make a cup of tea after my long journey. I was eating a ready meal one evening that needed some seasoning and could not find any salt and pepper. The accommodation was faultless it was just the break I needed thank you
Christine was a great host. She was on hand if we needed her. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden with us.

Very nice cottage, with walking from the cottage. Troutbeck is beautiful
Ideal property for exploring the area and accessing walks, which we enjoy. Christine was very welcoming but not intrusive. Everything met expectations. Have recommended it to other family members and we would certainly book it again.

We enjoyed our stay very much indeed. The cottage was very cosy and suited us perfectly. The host, Christine, was most helpful too.
High fold cottage at Troutbeck was relaxing, well equipped and perfect for our winter holiday. I would recommend this property and Sykes, for the well organised stay. Will differently return to this property during this year. Thanks again, Garry and Mirella
Quirky little place in a great location. Might have been too quirky for us. Host lovely and welcoming and cottage lovely and warm. Few things let place down, having to drive to windermere to collect key and on leaving do trip again when owners literally joined on to cottage we were staying at. TV was hopeless even after following instructions using 2 remotes. nightmare getting tv on some nights. Cleaners maybe hadn't inspected after last guests had left i.e cutlery plates cups needed washing. Silly things like 1 and a half toilet rolls and maybe a thimble of washing up liquid. Been to many places in the Lakes and everywhere else pretty well equipped. Anyhow didn't spoil our week we had a fabulous time walking and just grateful to be there.
This is a very comfortable cottage for two people, right in the heart of Troutbeck with terrific walks from the doorstep. Warm and cosy, this makes a great base for exploring the area. The owner is next door and came to say hello on the first day, providing essential information. The place was very clean and had everything needed for our stay. The Post Office cafe and shop over the road was very handy excellent scones! We can also recommend Sunday lunch at The Mortal Man.
I loved this little cottage. It was ideal for my solo Lake District getaway. So cosy to come back to in the evening and based in a nice quiet village. Walks from the door. Host Christine lives next door and she was very friendly and helpful. Had all the facilities i needed. Very comfortable stay. Would book again.
We had a fantastic stay at High Fold. A great location for walks from the door step as well as being close to both Windermere and Ambleside. The cottage was so cosy and warm, bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay again!.

Our third visit to High Fold and wonderful as ever. Thanks Christine!

Amazing stay at High Fold. Lovely little cottage. Clean and super cosy. Very friendly host. Great location if you have a car. Pretty much halfway between Windermere and Ambleside. Lovely selection of walking directions provided, one of which starts at the church 5 min walk from the cottage add an hour on top of the estimated duration. Couldn't figure out how to start the gas fire, but I'm sure our host would have showed me if I'd asked, and the heating worked fine, so it was just for the visuals. Thanks for an amazing stay. Tommy and Shaz
The seat on the sofa is deep. Found it difficult to sit with a straight back. On the day of our arrival it was a nice touch for the owner to call and introduce herself.

A beautiful old cottage in a very peaceful location. Lots of wonderful walks from the door. It would be interesting to know a bit more about its history.

Enjoyed our stay in Hi Fold Cottage which has lots of characterful features. it is surrounded by beautiful scenery and the owner is friendly and helpful. The loungekitchen has a gas 'real flame' log fire and is very cosy. Gorgoeus walks from the door and a local pub a few minutes away. Weather perfect, so lucky. Will visit again!
Jus perfect for a quiet week in the country for two.
A beautiful cottage and comfy we had awonderful week wish we could have stayed ... A beautiful cottage and comfy we had awonderful week wish we could have stayed longer,a very nice location for all the lakes,I will be booking again
Compact cottage, ideal for a couple. All equipment needed for making meals. Good rear garden to relax in after a walk. Owner lives next door was on hand to offer advice. Lots of walks from cottage. Couple of routes to Ambleside, steep walk back! Local Pub was ok for pub grub. The post office cafe sold great ice creams. If we are staying on this side if Windermere again, would book this cottage.
Lovely little cottage with great facilities and in a lovely quiet location, nice and close to Ambleside. Very clean, good internet and everything worked. We very much hope to return again
Steven
Lovely cosy cottage perfect for 2 people. Unable to leave feedback in the cottage as diidnt have a pen with us! Greeted by the owner on arrival too
The cottage was so cosy and comfortable with that real old fashioned charm about it. The area and views were beautiful. Everything you could need was supplied. The bed especially was very comfortable. There was pub restaurants and a friendly little coffee shop within short walking distance. The owner knocked the first day to offer any help or information which was really nice. This was my first ever visit to the Lake District. I would love to go back again sometime in the future and would definitely want to stay at high fold cottage again.
Frances
This was our second stay at High Fold and we will be back again in the Autumn. No need to say more!

We had a lovely time even when a cold snap decided to entertain us. The cottage was ideal and Troutbeck was a splendid place from which to explore areas we enjoyed previously both by foot and car. Thank you.

Absolutely lovely property can't fault it at all. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed with a very well equipped kitchen. Bed was very comfortable and cottage was warm and cosy. The owners live next door and were really helpful regularly checked in with us but gave us our own space. The location is brilliant, many walks that can be done from the door and only a 10 minute drive to Ambleside or Windermere but you can also walk there if you like!. The village is lovely and peaceful with nice local pubs and a tearoom with a small shop. The only negative was our key collection process which had nothing to do with the owners. We were instructed to pick up our keys from the lake lovers office in Windermere where they would be in a keysafe out of hours 5pm on a Bank Holiday. The keys were not in the keysafe when we arrived so we spend over 45 minutes on the phone and waiting in the cold for a maintenance oncall worker to come and get into the office to obtain the keys which had been left in a box inside by mistake. This was frustrating but overall the stay was so brilliant we would definitely still recommend it just the key collection process should be improved!
