On arrival at the cottage it gave a cosy warm welcome the cottage was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday . We would definitely return here when back in the area . With the play den we would also bring our grandchild .

The property was nice and we found that the location was perfect for us. Bowness is a nice little town and right on Windermere lake with access to the ferry across it. Other towns like Windermere and Ambleside are bigger but not so close to the water. However, we were much less impressed with the service provided by Sykes. When we arrived there was only a thick winter duvet on the bed and no alternative which was ridiculously hot for us in June and ruining our sleep. There was no phone number provided for the owner. The Sykes phone number proved to be useless the phone menu was only allowing new bookings or complaining about a completed holiday. Also the smoke detector had a low battery again with no way of fixing this from the owner. In the end we had to remove the duvet from its cover and bought a rug for more comfort when sleeping. We also bought the required smoke alarm battery. The emergency phone number for Sykes is unlikely to have helped. In case of minor or major issues we have no confidence with Sykes. Why don't Sykes ensure that they provide an owners contact number or otherwise provide an adequate phone service!

We had a lovely few days in the cottage , excellent location for us and very quiet . Comfy bed and settees , good quality shower . What would have improved it for us was a fan as it was stifling hot in the bedroom and curtains that shut out the light . Stairs are steep as is the walk back from town but we knew that in advance and coped fine with it. Would have preferred fewer kitchen items and more cupboard space for our food.

We were very happy with the cottage and it's facilities, but when I tried to contact Sykes cottages both by phone and WhatsApp message I got either no reply could not get through as it kept just ringing, I rang all the contact numbers, Sykes need to do better as they are the letting agent Good job it was not Urgent !

This was our second visit to the cottage and once again we had a fantastic stay. We love the location and the fact it is so close to everything yet peaceful and right on the doorstep of a lovely walk with lake views. We find as a family of four that the cottage has everything you could need for a cozy, comfortable stay and it is good value too.

Dalesway Cottage was lovely. It was beautiful throughout very cosy. It was spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed and more. We found the beds very comfortable and I loved the little play den great idea and perfect if you have young children. We were lucky with the weather so was able to make full use of the outside seating area and the conservatory. Perfect for relaxing days sipping coffeewine and reading. It is ideally situated for walks from your doorstep to being a 510 minutes walk to Bowness with plenty of shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants and all the attractions. It is on a steep climb but taking the private road does make it easier. Overall its a lovely cottage and would definitely recommend. May I also add that the owners artwork around the cottage is a lovely touch. I particularly liked the glasswork. Thank you for a lovely week at Dalesway.

A fantastic week spent at Dalesway cottage. The decor was in keeping with a traditional style cottage. We had everything that we needed to enjoy a self catering holiday. The beds were very comfortable, although the main bed a little small, we felt possibly just a small double. Lovely bathroom. We enjoyed sitting in the garden and conservatory each evening, relaxing after our walks. The hill up from Bowness was steep! Thanks for the short cut info ! However ideally located to walk down into Bowness and being able to park our car up was a big advantage. It never moved all week as the local buses cover lots of areas. Only minor niggles, some towels were in need of replacing, as obviously well used but this would be something that the cleaners should really check. Also we do like a welcome pack and have had this when booking cottages previously. It is a nice extra touch. We visit the area every year and would not hesitate to stay here again, now that we have found the cottage. Thanks again

We had a lovely stay and would happily return again. The accommodation was great, with a really homely atmosphere that made us feel comfortable straight away. One of the standout features for us was the playroom, which was a fantastic added extra for our son and kept him entertained throughout our stay. The location was also ideal, being nice and close to town, which made getting around very easy. The shower was excellent, and the bedrooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The only small downsides were that there was no tea, coffee, or cooking oil provided, and only a few bin bags were available, which would have been helpful to have more of. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying again in the future.

Had a fantastic few days at Dalesway cottage. Perfect location close to Bowness with views over Windermere. The cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable. We would have appreciated a small starter kit with coffeeteasugar and an extra toilet roll which we have had in other cottages but just a small detail which wouldnt stop us from rebooking. Lots to do close by!

We had a lovely one week stay at Dalesway Cottage. The main living area with kitchen, dining and lounge is really well set out to be both spacious and cosy. The kitchen area has plenty of space to both cook together and hang out. Having the conservatory as the main entrance and a place to take off wet boots and coats is great to have plus a nice place to sit and watch the weather over Windermere. Upstairs the bedrooms and bathroom are lovely with comfy beds and a strong hot shower for after those long walks. We would definitely stay there again.

What a lovely cottage excellent location easy walk to get views of Windermere Bowness from post knot bonus to have space for two cars. Got into routine having coffee in morning outside, has we had a lovely week for weather, Can get really good views from playroom up in loft space of Windermere,Had everything we needed in cottage we had no problems with property what so ever very clean cottage excellent.

Great location lovely cottage plenty of room

The cottage was great we loved how it was furnished and was cosy and comfortable. It had all the facilities we needed and we thought the location was fantastic. So close to everything yet had the hillside views and the lake view too. The weather was glorious so we were very lucky and being able to sit in the sunny garden was a lovely bonus we just would have loved some more comfortable seating there. The conservatory seating was great though. We would definitely recommend a stay here and would love to return.

This is the third time weve booked with Sykes but most likely our last as standards are dropping. We stayed at Dalesway cottage for a weekend break in February 2025. We found the cottage even late at night, more by luck though. Would recommend the description includes what three words as this might help newcommers. The cottage is cute and served us well. Our main complaint however is that the main bedroom sheets were not clean. There was a disgusting brown stain which we had to cover up with a towel as it was too late at night to do little else . Phoned Skyes on Saturday morning to get sheets replaced and was told this would be done, just leave the keys in the secure box. Came back later in the day after a great walk nearby lovely trail at the back of the property only to find no sheet change or even new ones so we could change them ourselves. This is really disappointing and frankly spoilt an otherwise lovely stay in the lakes. I blame Skyes maintenance for this and this lets it down for the owner. There are some minor TLC issues that need sorting in the property though such as a mould stain on the wall beneath window in main bedroom. We could live with that though as overall it was a good property and we made the best of our stay, just very disappointed about the bed sheets issue not being resolved during our stay otherwise it would have been a 5 star rating if this was acted upon. This has left us with a poor experience with Skyes so well go elsewhere now for cottage breaks.

Just returned from an amazing weekend at Dalesway. The cottage is lovely and cosy, it has everything you would possibly need for a break away from home and has a great playroom on the top floor for the kids. It's only a 5 minute walk to the centre of Bowness and if you like walking there is a gate opposite the cottage which takes you straight onto the hills. We will definately return back here. Drain for shower is extremely slow. Could overflow if not watched. Coffee and tea would be nice.

The cottage was perfect for our week in Bowness. It was well equipped. The playroom was great for our 5 year old. Great private parking right outside the cottage. Pleasant walk into the centre using the private road down. We had a problem on the first night with the shower. The trap didn't drain so the water came over the shower tray and leaked through the sealant into the lounge. Phoned the maintenance team and they were out within an hour. They sorted it trap full of hair Cleaners?

A wonderful stay in Dalesway cottage. The cottage was so comfortable and had everything you may need in a holiday home. We also especially enjoyed lighting the log burner each evening. The cottage was in a perfect position for walking to Bowness which is a great place with lots to do and the hills are right behind the cottage ready for wonderful walks. I would happily return here.

Beautiful little cottage and location. Walks from the door so didn't always need to use the car. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Conservatory was a bonus even when the weather was a little grey.

A lovely cottage in prime location. Outstanding views from the bench behind the cottage on the hill we saw the most beautiful sunset. Clean facilities, comfortable beds and plenty of space for 4 adults. Well be back

These are no fault of the owners but they should consider changing who looks after the property for them! I had to hoover up on arrival the play room had dead flies all on the floor. Living room had not been cleaned properly, my daughter was playing downstairs and a nail was found under the rugmat. need a new hoover as the one provided was not great either. The toilet was dirty, this had not been cleaned I dont think I need to go into detail. Smoke alarm had been disabled in the play room Im guessing by previous guests, the smoke alarm on the bedroom landing was beeping when we arrived, I called customer services who posted a battery through the door and then I had to fit this myself, I called customer services as it is not down the guests to service health and safety features no one attended or called me back! I had an email once we left the property to say that these had been sorted this actually was no good to us and our holiday had ended and this situation had caused us to worry. The stairs are very tricky with a toddler who wants to go up and down, these were not represented on the listing properly. The stickers on the oven for degrees and grilloven etc are none existent so it was tricky to know what to put the oven on. Luckily we had plans and were out most of the days but unfortunately I would not stay again.

Absolutely loved this little cottage. Spotlessly clean and located so close to Bowness but perfectedly tucked away and with everything we could possibly need. Loved listening to the owls at night . Would definitely recommend.

We had a great stay over Christmas. I stayed with my partner and two young children. The house was great and the play room on the top floor was a particular hit with the kids. The house had everything we needed, there was even a Christmas tree setup. The house is located at the top of quite a steep bank, so just be prepared for that especially when pushing a pram I can not fault the accommodation and will absolutely stay again.

Lovely clean cottage, perfect position for walking into Bowness.

The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for our weekend away. My only comment would be the second bedroom was a bit tight for 2 people to share. But apart from that is was great. The location was also great, only a short walk down the hill into Bowness. I would recommend, and would stay again.

The cottage itself was absolutely beautiful a real home from home providing lots of comfort. The only point I would make is that this is the only cottage I have ever stayed in that didn't provide any welcome gift, no biscuits or anything and usually you get a couple of toilet rolls and this had a part toilet roll on the holder and that was it, no soap or washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets etc. These little finishing touches make all the difference. I think the trouble is that the owners don't live locally so they are not able to check up on their cleaners and see that they are providing everything they should be and maybe they think they are doing a thorough job when actually I felt they were cutting corners. It was a shame because the cottage itself was perfect and it may not be the owners fault if they are unaware what level of service their cleaners are providing. We left it spotless so they had very little to do after us. I would appreciate it if you could feed this back to them.

A beautiful cottage by Lake Windermere, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Hoping to return in the future!

The cottage was lovely and a great location and had everything we need for a week or longer stay. The only issue with regards to comfort was the bed, the double bed is quite small and also the mattress was very soft. My husband and I suffered with a bad back from day 3, we are not extremely large but felt squashed in the bed. We do realise there is limited to space in the room. Perhaps something to feedback with regards to the mattress although soft mattresses may be appealing they don't support your back and with the heavy use the mattress will become soft very quickly.

Immaculately, thoughtfully and artistically presented cottage. Handy to be able to walk into Bowness and good exercise on the hill. But so peaceful and quiet. Birdsong a joy. Bryson Bakery and Vinegar Jones at the bottom of the road a must!

I would like to start by saying we had a fantastic time and your cottage is beautiful. Just a couple of things you might want to look at. The front door lock doesn't work properly and its mentioned a few times in your visitors book which is a simple fix. The cupboard draws were dirty and need cleaning before we could put our cloths away. That said we will be back.

The property is lovely. I think the picture on the website is a little misleading as the cottage is in fact the one on the end with the door to the rear of the property. This wasnt an issue, just a little confusing when we arrived. It is in a great location. Parking is good. The cottage itself is lovely and the bathroom is divine. The heating needs to come off timer we were roasting! We were able to turn it down when in the cottage and to turn off radiators so it wasnt really an issue, just a waste of money for the owner. We would absolutely stay again.

Great location, warm and comfortable, wellequipped

The cottage is very clean and well equipped in a good location for visiting other areas. There was a problem when we first arrived, the central heating was not working. It was a very cold night which continued into the morning. The cottage was cold even though there was an electric fire and wood burning stove. The fault was reported in the morning and fixed the same day which greatly improved our stay. Even with the heating problem we would return

We were very pleased with Dalesway Cottage. The place was spotlessly clean and the Xmas decorations were a nice touch to welcome us in to the cottage for our New Year stay. The weather wasnt favourable to us so we utilised the log burning stove on most days which soon gave the interior a cosy ambience. However a point or three are worth noting 1. We had only one car but found it extremely difficult to get into the allotted parking space alongside the premises especially during the hours of darkness and in lashing rain. It would be very beneficial to upgrade the exterior lamp to a decent spotlight to aid the multiple manoeuvers needed for parking . 2. There is some confusion regarding the wheelie bin collection. The cottage has only one bin green but I think that the local council will only empty it on certain weeks. A neighbour told me that a greyblack bin is needed but the cottage doesn't possess such. The green bin was full when we arrived and remained so on our departure even though I put it in the lane on the allotted collection day. 3. The shower tray plug hole looks to be partially blocked probably due to an accumulation of soap hair because the tray soon gathers water and will spill over onto the bathroom floor and drip down to the lower floor. This should be given some priority to fix. 4. One small idea which you might like to act upon. The space below the main bedroom window would be ideal to locate a folding suitcase holder stand not sure what the exact name for these things are ! So, thank you so much for providing a fantastic wee cottage with all the necessities for our stay. Well done and best wishes for the coming season.

Lovely cozy cottage . Everything in it you could possibly need only little gripe would be a fire guard would be a good idea so we could benefit from the heat of the log burner with door open and we were not aware of the steep hill the cottage is on. Not everyone that visits the lakes is a walker I have a lung condition and struggled a bit. But as I say the cottage was perfect for us
