Priory Ghyll Reviews

The property was spotless. There is a lovely view of Lake Windermere from the front. It is wellequipped and comfortable. Windermere railway station is a 1520 minute walk, so the property is also close to Booths. Parking is straightforward.
We enjoyed our holiday at this lovely cottage. It has a good lake view and we enjoy the walk along the track to the lake. It's in an excellent location for visiting Windermere, Bowness and the surrounding area. We look forward to returning again.

Great view of the lake whilst we sat at the bay window eating our breakfast and evening meals. A quiet, restful location. Comfortably furnished and well equipped. Would happily return here.
We love staying at this cosy comfortable cottage and walking along the track to the lake. It's in an excellent location. We look forward to returning again soon.

Lovely little cottage in a great ,quiet location with views to lake Windemere and a trackway to the lake itself. We had no problems finding the cottage and the parking arrangements were fine too. The cottage is clean, tidy and equipped with everything you need, kitchen is fine, as is living room, bathroom and bedrooms. Great value for money . After dark you will need a torch as lighting is minimal. Windemere was extremely busy for March weather was great Coniston and Ullswater quieter. Windemere has plenty of shops and eateries , but booking early for some pubs and restaurants is a must especially at weekends.

This is our 3rd with yourselves and we had a really lovely stay and we will be booking again the weather was quite good to us for January the cottage priory ghyll was lovely and toasty warm the only thing is that the settee seating cushions need to be replaced because you feel that you are sat in a hole otherwise it's perfect

Great location and views, access to the jetty a fantastic bonus! The property has a very comfortable layout, the kitchen is great and has everything you need including a fridge with a small freezer compartment and two caffetieres. The double bed is very comfortable, bathroom a good size and it's nice to sit out on the bench overlooking the lake and the hills beyond. A great place!
It is a really lovely cottage with more than adequate amenities and when visiting the Lakes, we have loved staying at this cottage over many years. Many thanks to the Owners. Best wishes Ruth Lawford and Family
Mostly very clean chalet with delightful view of the lake, hills and sunset. We felt it had comfortable sofas, good heating, well equipped kitchen but some very shabby furniturefittings. Good shower and excellent towels. We liked two of the mattresses, one single wasn't great for us. Car parking down the steep hill wouldn't be suitable for all unless someone can bring the car up to the drop off point. Dirty windows were not cleaned while we were there, despite a request. Owner told us the damaged fridge was now being replaced so that will be great.
Clean, comfortable and lovely views. Well equipped, great to have a radio and night light. Shower excellent. A good 30 minute walk to Bowness. Windermere Town centre a little nearer but a steeper hill. Would recommend and easily stay again.
A lovely bungalow. Clean and comfortable. Fantastic views. Really enjoyed having our own private jetty. We all had a 'dip'in the lake. We also had a visit from the deer a couple of times. Lovely place. I highly recommend it.
We love staying at this cosy comfy cottage and seeing all the wildlife. Windermere Jetty Museum is close by great for steam boat trips, the gorgeous cafe and the museum itself. We'll return soon!
Really lovely place to stay Location was fantastic Cottage was comfy and practical
Everything was supplied including tea towels, washing up cloths and liquid and loo rolls. comfortable and spacious with great views over lake windermere and a five minute walk to the jetty. A short half an hour walk into Bowness with loads of great restaurants and quaint shops. Vinegar Jones fish and chips are great. All in all a great restful break.
Wonderful location with fabulous views over Windermere. The cottage was comfortable and cosy, and although the pillow cases and protectors were clean some of the pillows were stained and could have done with being replaced. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do, a short walk to the bus stops and a pleasant walk up to Windermere or down to Bowness and the lake.
A Lovely comfortable cottage with lake views and excellent amenities and close to Bowness shops and Lake front.
Had everything that we needed for a few nights away. Very clean and a wonderful location. Loved the walk down to the jetty.
Hi as a family we ike the cottage it was lovely, but the issue was in bathroom, shower, kitchen sink, constantly getting cold water. ..heating in the bedrooms where constantly turning off. And the bathroom shower door we had a problem open and closing,I would look in to those problem Thank you.
Location location location, if you love swimming in open water, or water sports, this accommodation is perfect. We had the private jetty and small beach to ourselves in August heat wave 10 minutes walk down forest path. Accommodation was basic but spotless and had everything we needed, fantastic view of Windermere lake and surrounding countryside from the lounge window and small patio in front. Would recommend to friends and family. Bedrooms were cool in temperature, which was great as the temperature outside was stiffling.

Very nice cottage in a quiet area, with lovely view on the trees and the lake. Walking distance to Windermere and very close to a bus stop. There is not much space to sit in front of the cottage, but you can use the lawn. We missed a comfortable chair to sit outside. The interior of the house is simple but everything you need is there.
The photos do not do it justice. The view was amazing.
Nicola
Suburb location with parking. We walked into Windermere and along the lake from the property. Clean, modern and comfy.
I did think there were too many irrelevant things in cupboards, extra tea sets and giant dishes etc. There was little storage for any supplies of food stuffs, this added to lack of work surface made preparations difficult. I realise being more inside in bad weather exasperated the problem.
Thanks for a lovely stay.
We appreciate that this chalet is on a private estate but signage at the entrance would be a great help. It is so close 50 mtrs to the 4 way roundabout that we missed it first time and had to double back. Post codes for use with SAT NAV would be useful for shopping and other amenities listed in the local information pack, as the site is not within walking distance to most of them. The WIFI router had been changed and the codes were wrong in the information pack.
The double bed mattress felt very old, soft and not comfortable, it feels like it had better days. The red blanket in the living room was very very dusty, and we suspect it caused our con an asthma attack the moment he used it.
Fabulous little holiday cottage. Perfect for our small family of 3 and base from which to explore Windermere and the surrounding areas.
Andrew
Cosy little cottage, great location, good road links & plenty of facilities nearby, short walk down to lake Windermere.
Jennifer
We had a great stay, the beds are comfy, the rooms are clean. Really lovely view of the lake when we sat at the table for meals, the view is simply amazing. The cottage is as described hence met expectations, would be nice if there's a washing machine and a dish washer.
Carole
Although relatively clean our accomodation was tired and dated and in need of some renovation. The bathroom plumbing system needed attention which meant we had to cut our stay short. However this was compensated by the owner who was very apologetic. The site itself was beautiful and we would certainly return to the priory estate in an alternative cottage.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Compact but well stocked with cooking utensils, pots & pans and had everything we needed for our 2 week stay. We had a minor issue with the heating that the owner responded to immediately & had fixed. Would highly recommend Priory Ghyll cottage.
The place was a little bit grubby, stains on the carpets, walls and furniture. But it had everything you need, a view of the lake. If you arent steady on your feet I wouldn't recommend as it is either up a steep hill or steep steps to get to the housing. It was perfect for what we needed it for and the price was good.
Beverley
Lovely location . .. very peaceful with only a short walk into Windermere . The cottage is cozy and the bed in really comfortable , which I exactly what you want after a days walking in the hills.
This cottage is ideal for two or, for example, two people with two young children. It would be cramped for four adults. This however is understood in the web site description. The location and parking are very good for an area that can be very busy.
Great location, a little dated but still offered everything you could need for a few days stay. Would recommend this accommodation to friends and family.
This cottage is in an ideal location and has a lovely outlook. Whilst as a couple we had plenty of room I think it would be a bit small for four. Generally very well equipped though some hooks to hang coats etc on would be nice. We would certainly book it again.
Louise
4 elderly friends spent a weekend in this absolutely idyllic spot! The cottage was perfect for us as we could walk straight in from the top car Park, where we offloaded everything which was very helpful. We did have to concentrate on sorting out the adjustments to the heating very easy when we cottoned on! also the hot water system was unusual. However, once we found the main hot water switch, on the wall outside the bathroom we switched it to either basins kitchen & bathroom sinks or if showering, then switch it over to shower! Then everything was perfect! We walked along the woody pathway to the lakeside & jetty early morning each day & were charmed by passing roe deer, rabbits, and various lovely ducks! The views from the seat at the jetty was stunning. What a privilege to be able to enjoy such a lovely part of the world!
