For Families
Fairhaven provides a good base for families exploring the Lake District. The enclosed garden offers safe outdoor space for children. The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction is 0.4 miles away. A cot and highchair are available. Lake Windermere's shores are 10 minutes walk with boat trips and waterside activities. The twin bedroom suits siblings sharing. Brockhole visitor centre 2.8 miles away has adventure playgrounds and treetop nets.
For Couples
Fairhaven may not be the ideal romantic retreat as it's a family-sized three-bedroom property. The quiet residential location does provide peaceful evenings away from tourist crowds. The enclosed garden with furnished patio offers private outdoor space. Lake Windermere sits 10 minutes walk away for waterside strolls. Two king-size bedrooms provide comfortable sleeping arrangements. The living flame gas fire creates a cosy atmosphere on cooler evenings.
Pet Friendly
Fairhaven does not accept pets. The property operates a strict no-pets policy for all bookings. If you're travelling with a dog, you'll need to find alternative accommodation in the Bowness-on-Windermere area. Many other Lake District properties do welcome pets, but this particular cottage is not suitable for guests bringing animals. The enclosed garden would otherwise have been ideal for dogs.

We loved Fairhaven for its location and size. We had booked it reading a few of the reviews, we knew the sofas where a bone of contention. They weren't that comfy but they werent the worst. We also know the owner has a new suit arriving in December. The beds were comfy enough but the pillows were far too flat and need replacing. The poor pillows did cause us a few back pains. I know others had mentioned this but it was dismissed by the owner. It shouldn't be, this is a rental accommodation, not the owners full time home. Reviews should be acknowledged and improvements made. Rental accommodations need to satisfy the many not the few. There were also a few niggly things with the home, we left a note for the owner to consider or action, but not anything Id publish as they arent things that should stop you from renting. The biggest gripe we had were the outdated TVs. We have small kids so our evenings are soent in. The main TV doesnt have apps, just freeview and Cumbria freeview is restricted to 20 odd channels. They have a DVD player but the free dvds are older than me 38 and the more modern ones are still 20 years old. So it was reruns of old Grand designs for us! The TVs in the bedroom are also very old and the sound on those are really poor. We would really recommend the owners update these. TVs shouldnt cause a mark down or up on a score but they do, we live in a society were they do play an important part on peoples relaxation time. My score would easily go from 35 if the TVs were updated, the sofas changed which they are and the pillows replaced with ones that have support. Fairhaven is lovely but it does need a good bit of modernising to keep up with current trends. We would rebook the property if the TVs were changed.

We have just spent a week in this super quiet property. The house and garden were lovely, as was the weather. A steep five minute walk into town to visit the shops and restaurants but fine for all of us. The house is extremely well catered for. The owners have thought of everything you could need. The only suggestion I have is for new pillows but thats my personal preference. Thank you for the wine and shortbread. We have no hesitation in booking Fairhaven again.
Dominique
It was a very comfortable house for a family plenty of space and well equipped. Loved the outside space. Also perfectly placed for walking into town.
This our second stay here. It is well located for the town and lake note there is a steep hill and is a nice big house with a beautiful garden and a drive for parking. Very well equipped and very comfortable. Lounge furniture looking slightly worn and a few dated features but very well maintained and good quality facilities overall. We had a great time.

We have used fairhaven for our lake district breaks for the past 5 years and have to say it always meets our expectations Well maintained clean and a home from home This property is a credit to its owners. Well equipped kitchen and has everything needed for the perfect Lakeland break. Just 5 minutes from the centre of Bowness but is quiet with a great enclosed garden
Lovely house with a home from home appeal. Large rooms, very clean and great location, despite the hill, only 10 minutes from the lake. We would definitely consider staying again.
We've stayed in AirBnB's quite a few times and they ALWAYS provide toilet paper, shampoo, hand soap and body wash at a minimum. Almost all also give tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, the basic stuff you don't carry around with you when you fly overseas and would really help to have when you check in at the place you're staying at. There was NO toilet paper in either bathroom, not enough towels for 5ppl for 2 nights, no tea, sugar, coffee, shampoo, body wash. We had to go out and purchase ourselves. They had so many rules posted every where about what to do , clean up, do this, don't do that and that would be fine if they would have provided us with basics. It grated a little because they didn't. Location was great, but I would not stay here again.
We had a great time at Fairfield, a comfortable house near the centre of Bowness. We would stay here again.

Great property in a fantastic spot close to all amenities and extremely quiet We use this property on a regular basis and it meets our family needs its maintained to a great standard extremely clean and is a credit to the owner This property has everything needed for a five star break

Great property, 2nd time visit. The only thing was the living room had bits from the Christmas tree that had been put away approx 4 weeks ago. I did vacuum them up but this should have alteady been done.
Fairhaven is a comfortable house with everything and I mean everything you could want for your holiday stay. It is set in a quiet street 5 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Bowness which is perfect. A big thank you for the lovely welcome gift which was lovely for Christmas. We only gave four stars as although it is a very comfortable house the soft furnishings and sofas could do with an update. But a lovely stay non the less so thank you very much.
We had a great week at Fairhaven. The house is very comfortable and a short walk to local shops etc. The weather during our week was mild so we didn't need to boost the heating much. When we did, it was very effective. However, a low battery warning light was flashing and this might need checking. Would recommend Fairhaven, and hope to stay again.

We have used this fantastic property now for the last 3 years and its in a fantastic location. The property is an absolute credit to the owners fantastically presented in a prime location in Bowness.this property is 5star and we as a family have already booked up for four weeks next year. Massive thanks to the owners for such a great well presented property in a prime location
Liked the layout of Fairhaven, it was clean and tidy. The offroad parking space was a bonus. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed to self cater our meals. A steamer would be handy. The bed we slept in was very comfortable. The upstairs bathroom was very spacious with a good shower and cubicle. Maybe the washers in the upstairs taps need replacing as the cold water flow upstairs was very slow. Fairhaven is a great place to stay to explore the lakes and for evening walks into Bowness. We personally did not find the dining chairs and lounge sofas very comfortable. Yes, all the sofas were recliners but one was repaired with stick on patches and had a throw to cover it up that came off all the time, which wasnt very convenient. The upholstery cushioning was well worn. This is the only reason we marked the accommodation down. Other than this we had a great stay. The owners kindly left a selection of wines for us to choose one bottle from, never had that anywhere else. The biscuits were also appreciated.
Lovely house, great position for Bowness. Beds very comfortable. Would look to book again when we are next visiting the Lakes.
Graham
Property is in a prime spot very well maintained Has everything you need for the perfect Lakeland holiday. Wether you want to be out walking or relaxing in the enclosed garden.Fairhaven is the perfect property for a great family holiday would recommend to any one.

A lovely house within walking distance of the town, so plenty of places to eat. However if you decide to eat in the house is spotlessly clean & well equipped.
Joanne
Fairhaven is a real home from home. It had everything we could possibly need during our stay. Great location with off road parking, just a short walk to shops and eateries. We had a lovely family break. Thank you.
Very comfortable accommodation near to all the local amenities
Lovely property and good location. ............

A spacious and comfortable property, we had everything we could need provided. Thank you for the bottle of wine and the biscuits, much appreciated. The bank leading down to the town was a bit of a challenge but otherwise but it wouldn't put us off booking Fairhaven again.
Superb property ideally located to walk into Bowness with all its restaurants, bars and shops, yet it's in a very quiet location. Easy to access from the M6, and gives good access to Southern Lakeland attractions. Really well equipped and a real home from home, the beds were the best we've slept in for a long time! There really wasn't anything to fault, we'd happily move in! Would certainly use again when we're next in the lakes.
Norman
It would have been nice to have a parasol for the garden
Heather
This was a fabulous base for our holiday. Easy to walk into Bowness yet quiet at night.
A lovely house within easy walking distance of Bowness town centre, and a perfect base to explore the Lake District from.

Lovely house with a beautiful garden. Very close to the lake and shops although you need to be ok with slopes. Very well equipped and comfortable
Very comfortable house. Convenient location for the village and the Dales way.
Jonathan
Excellent place. Will be coming again at some point definitely
Vivien
Very comfortable house. Convenient location for the village and the Dales way.
Positives were many location, cleanliness, space, lovely little garden and well equipped kitchen. Negatives were bath towels very small, mattresses not very comfortable and the bed linen smelled faintly of cigarettes but it was still an enjoyable stay.
Elaine
This was our second stay over the New Year period as we love Bowness. The property was very comfortable and welcoming with Christmas trees in both reception rooms and a welcome bottle of Fizz. The gas fire in the sitting room was lovely in the evenings after long walks in the rain. It is really conveniently located as it is a short stroll into Bowness where there are ample shops, restaurants and bars. The start of the walk to Brantfell is just at the top of the road and the Bowness Ferry to Far Sawrey is a round a mile from the house which gives access to many different walks. The only drawback was that the fire and carbon monoxide detectors were out of date. The televisions only have access to terrestrial channels, however at this time of the year there was plenty to watch on the evenings we stayed in. We loved the house and location so much, we have already booked again for next year.
Michael
I have stayed at fairhaven more than 24 times over the last 23 years it is a wonderful warm and very comfortable property ideally located for all amenities. It has every thing you could possibly need an moor I have never had any problems with the property it is always in excellent condition. I look forward to returning again .

The house was well equipped, and in a lovely position although I struggled to get up and down the lane The only thing was the cleanliness of the property. On arriving there was a strong musty smell. I thing they are just dusting and not cleaning. The dressing table in the main bedroom had ground in dirt all round, also the hand rail up the stairs was very sticky and when I wiped it down, it was very dirty. I also had to clean the table mats, and the area in the kitchen where the trays are kept, was dusty and dirty. The table in the lounge the bottom shelf was very dusty The back of the bathroom taps need a good clean, also the corners of the floor. I lot of marks on the walls. After saying that it did not spoil our holiday, but I thought the owners should know.
Graham
We had an issue with the refuse collection on the second week and despite. Phoning on at least 4 occasions from Thursday and been told someone would assist by making some room in the bin we ended up leaving the bin overflowing as no body attended
