Buttercup Cottage Reviews

Buttercup Cottage is a delight, right in the heart of Troutbeck Valley which is outstandingly beautiful. Numerous walks from the doorstep but also within easy reach of Windermere and other popular destinations. So relaxing, a real tonic! Great to be in pubs and cafes that are dog friendly too.

Lovely little cottage, well situated in Troutbeck. Clean, very well equipped kitchen, cosy sitting area and comfy bedroom with a goodsized bathroom. Perfect for a weeks walking holiday. Washing machine in the shared utility was ideal. We couldnt quite figure out how to turn the heating on and off I think the instructions are for an old system! so we just turned the radiators onoff as we needed and that worked fine. Lots of hot water, and dishwasher tablets and spongewashing up liquid provided which was really appreciated. WiFi code is inside the front cover of the binder on the windowsill some older WiFi codes are inside the binder and confused us a bit! We found the parking fine but if youre not confident with reversing into tight spaces you might not like this. Overall a wonderful stay and we would stay here again.
This is a good, comfortable accommodation with albeit a bit tricky parking for one car. Perfect for a single occupant or a couple, pretty much in the centre geographically speaking of the Lake District, so all of the parts of the national park is very accessible. Even the northernmost bits are only up to an hour's drive. The shared areas utility, back garden are structured a little weird and you will inevitably hear your neighbours but it's fine. It's tiny, but comfortable, and has everything you need for a week's stay.

Its a lovely cottage, in a very nice location. Had everything we needed for the week. The day we got there we followed our sat nav which toke us to another cottage a couple of doors down but we did end up finding the correct one.
Daniel
Great little cottage, very comfortable. Only thing was the oven fan was broken, so made cooking a bit more difficult. Apart from that everything was as described
Lovely little cottage with nearby walks for all levels. Two welcoming pubs within walking distance. Although the kitchen was small, it had everything you needed including a dishwasher. Although it was a shared washing machine with the adjoining cottage, it wasnt a problem. A lovely shower and comfy bed. Just what was needed after a day on the fells. Highly recommended for two people.
Mattress is terrible 100 worn out, worse weve ever slept on, the edges collapse to nothing if you try to sit on it. Huge stain on couch when we arrived we turned the seating cushion over. Had to hunt around for the WiFi code found a scrap of paper poi toning to a binder! Whats that all about? Holes in towels! Urine stain on toilet seat. The oven was filthy tin foil on baking trays in oven as theyre rank! Main rug in teeny weeny lounge dirty, we cleaned it! Masses of kitchen utensils and pans all thrown in draws, sloppy. Pictures of property so deceptive. Bedroom describes as opulent tiny, no space to walk around, cramped. Just the smallest property. Dead bugs, wasps, moths in every room when was this last used? Shower floor blocked up I had to clean out the drain gauze full of hair We bleached the house when we left, its cleaner than when we moved in. Positives Peaceful location.
Tracey
It would be really helpful if the water temperature in the shower could be sorted. It runs quite cool which is ok during the hot warm days we had during our stay but when you turn the dial even only slightly the water goes extremely hot which is not good That is the only negative and Im sure something that can be altered Fantastic location We slept so well in a lovely comfy bed Well equipped kitchen Neat and petite and perfectly functional And booked again for next year looking forward to it
Melissa
We had a great stay. Parking outside of the property was handy and the cottage had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed was super comfy. Its a lovely place to stay with walks on your door step and pubs a couple of minutes walk away.
All in all the cottage was fine for what we wanted. Just a few minor issues which have been mentioned in other feedbacks but nothing seems to have been addressed. The shower is red hot all the time and you are unable to turn it down, the wheel Barrow is still in the way of the table and the sheet is still on the front of the building. The parking is not for the faint hearted especially when cars park in the entrance and you have to knock on doors to get them to move. Apart from that we had a good stay with two excellent pubs with good food a short stroll away
The parking was very very tight and difficult to enter and exit. When we arrived, the building had a large tarpaulin attached to it which very nearly put us off even entering the building. The shower was unbearably hot and could not be regulated. The instruction manuals bore no resemblance to the equipment available. Tha'ts the negatives. Thankfully the Lakes is a wonderful holiday destination so we enjoyed the holiday, just not the cottage as much as we have other Sykes properties.
Parking horrendous Wheelbarrow at outside table dreadful Builders sheet ... Parking horrendous Wheelbarrow at outside table dreadful Builders sheet flapping on outside wall like a shanty town misleading advertising no view whatsoever aggressive comments from cleaner It was a lot cleaner when we left compared to when we arrived bathroom and bedroom good and there was a tiny view from the landing window
Catherine
The wine cooler doesnt actually fit bottles so shouldnt be part of the description. The bed is too soft. Bedding though is very good. Apart from that, we really enjoyed the cottage thank you.
Michael
Had a lovely stay, great cottage and location, would stay again, thanks
Lovely cosy cottage, well appointed with everythst we needed. Our first stay in Troutbeck and we would definitely stay there again. The location is so quiet and yet easily accessible for amenities. It was nice to leave the car at the cottage and put our boots on and walk. Some of our walking highlights were Wansfell Pike then dropping into Ambleside then walking back via Robins Lane. Also walked up Troutbeck Tongue then back along the brook and back to the cottage via the Mortal Man!
This lovely comfortable cottage had everything we needed. We did lots of walks from the door in spite of the wet weather. It's a good cottage for walkers nice and warm to come back to. The porch was useful for drying wet boots and so on. We would stay here again.
Robert
The cottage itself is very cosey and well equipped and ideally situated for all the towns etc. No problems at all. Would recommend. The parking however is very difficult for most drivers.
