Lovely and cosy had a relaxing week
Victoria
We love Applethwiate View, this is our 3rd visit. Great location and spectacular views. Lovely property and very quiet. Some lovely walks and scenery close by. We are looking to boom again, definitely are go to property in The Lakes.
Graham
We had 5 nights for 450 from 28th Sept which, considering what the property offers we felt was very good value for money and we were very happy with it . Stunning views across the valley from inside the comfortable lounge area and outside seating area . Very good heating and hot water system. Brilliant showers in very nice clean modern bathrooms . Nice modern kitchen and dining area sufficiently equipped for our needs. Noted not much room to store non fridge freezer dry foods . The smaller of the 2 bedrooms ..still a decent size equipped with adequate wardrobe and draw space and a comfortable bed. Only 2 hangers in wardrobe . The larger of the two bedrooms ...good size ...comfortable bed ...but ... unimpressed with the lack of proper wardrobe. What they have done is taken out the fireplace and that has become a niche ..a short bar is installed on which three hangers ..no door or anything and in that same area is a messy conglomeration of wifi equipment that emits a green glow during the night . This has been mentioned by other people . I have commented on that directly to Sykes . As mentioned by others ..there is another apartment above ..in fact it is a three storey property . There were people in there and from both bedrooms we could hear when they walked across the floor and their voices. This was at a low level and didnt disturb us ..however if there were particularly noisy people above then the footsteps might be more noticeable as has been mentioned in another review . However it is an apartment we had booked and in any apartment situation anywhere there is possibility of noise . There are 2 pubs nearby .The Mortal Man is very close ..we didn't go in there but we did go the The Queens Head and were happy with the food and drink we had there . Overall we were very happy with the apartment and our 5 days in the Lakes
Property photos and description fairly accurate. However mixed bag review. Its absolutely pitch black if arrive or comego at night. No outside lighting at all. Anywhere! On arrival in daylight, very unclear which property it isreferred to photos to confirm. Needs much better signage. Parking for one car defo not 2. Very tight especially when others are there in the other accomodation. Ok for one car, but not 2. No information about what to do with linenbins. Info pack in lounge only referenced the weird waterheating system. Nothing useful about local area or what to do when leaving. No milk in the fridge so after a 6hr journey we couldnt have a cuppa. Shop is approx. 10mins down a natrow winding track. Village shop limited opening times. Never stayed anywhere which didnt give you a 1pt of milk to have a cuppa on arrival. Beds comfy. Great showers. Dont go expecting peace and quiet. Flat above very noisy when occupied. Pets allowed in those flatsbut not this one, however we were disturbed every morning 7am by other guests and their dog playing fetch in the driveway with an irritating squeaky toy, and heavy footsteps on ceiling and heard every word. Put up with it for 3 nights but wouldnt cope with a week. Kitchen well stocked but some items dirty and old. Poor maintainanceno grouting in tiles or worktop joints so loads of crumbs festering in every gap. we didnt use appliancesonly kettle and toaster. Corner kitchen cupboard not aligned properly so doesnt shut fully. Spiders and conwebs everywhere. Sofa heavily stained mentioned on previous reviews. Bathrooms done to high standard but furnishing and wall art in other areas all mismatched and not thought aboutlooks like furniture chosen from charity shop as nothing coordinatedmatching. Wall art not in keeping with area. very randomnon matching pieces and irrelevantcould be so well presemted by puting pics up with matching frames in each roomphotos of the area. Lovely beamed fireplace in main bedroom but used to contain a wonky floating shelf and to house the messy collection of wires for wifi and TV box. Garden furniture also brokenhalf the table missing again also reported on a previous review. Needs to be replaced. Great views across valley, pub walking distance. Shop in village but opening times limited. Nice property but needs a good clean and maintainance check as could be much better. Cleaner male arrived bang on 10am in his own taxi and stood outside flat smoking dropped butts on the driveway not good impression. Great location and nice property but could be so much better with a bit of thought, more guest info and owner inputmaintainance. Would consider staying again for a short break but think theres other options done better also. I have taken photos of the above if required.
Had a great stay, fantastic accom and views unrivalled. Beds comfy. Loved views of sheep from 2nd bedroom window. Loved watching the swifts fly catching insects. It needs info on what to do with rubbish, we placed in bins think we got it right. It could do with a blind to cover skylight in room as a torrential rain pour day meant lots of light reflection on tv as we had a film day in. A guest book would be nice. Parking spaces would be better if labelled correctly rather than initials as people had parked in ours. I understood the initials no idea why others didn't. The sofa could do with cushions and maybe throws as there were a few stains. Overall though I will definitely be booking again as its perfect.

Lovely property. Good standard of comfort and cleanliness in general The sofa in the lounge could have done with a clean as some people previously had no respect and the cushions were stained ! Also the outdoor furniture could do with replacing as falling apart The bedroom door is loose at the top Otherwise it was a delightful property and I would recommend Fabulous location and choice of 2 very good pubs a short walk away
Victoria
This is our 3rd stay at Applethwiate View and it's been amazing again. Fantastic location and property with beautiful views of the valley. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a quiet location but with driving distance of The Lakes. The house has some great facilities and it's so cosy. We will definitely be back again soon, in fact I'm looking at dates already.
Turning up on the first night in the dark to no signage on the gate itself wasn't very helpful, it was only sign posted from 1 direction on the road, having never been before and In pitch black we wasn't sure where to go. Definitely a sign on the main gate would be helpful. The front room was cold, 2 fan heaters had been left however 1 fan doesn't work the other only blows cold air, we spent the evenings with blankets on the sofas. I could only imagine how cold it would actually be given the temperatures outside plumited. No way of changing the heating temperature either. The heating wasn't the only boiler issue, with only 2 of us here even after running one bath the hot water runs out and you have to wait for the full system to top back up. Not ideal as this took a couple of hours too. Also the main bathroom with the bath only had frosted glass windows looking onto the car park. No blinds, when the bath is straight opposite the window this definitely needs a blind. Beeping noise coming from the second bathroom, having looked at previous reviews this issue had been raised before and yet not fixed? In the main bedroom there was a lovely beemd fireplace with such potential however it was just filled with all WiFi boxes which on a night lit up the room. I imagine in summer sat out around the back with the view would be quiet nice, however we got the impression it had been rushed with not much thought or consideration gone into. Shame for such a lovely area
We were freezing cold in the living room and only stayed one night because of that. I was very disappointed that we couldn't turn the heating up, it spoiled our trip which was for my husband's 65th birthday.
In my opinion Lakelovers obviously do not check up, on the properties they have on their site, whilst my stay was refunded to me in part from the actual owner of the cottage, Lakelovers refused to refund my booking fee for the property they promote yet know about the problems with the rental from reviews left over 2yrs ago with the exact same issues. They also promote a property with out of date PAT tested appliances something I'm aware is a legal requirement. Would I book with them again, No is the easy answer. My review is solely for Lakelovers as I stated prior, I actually dealt with the owner of the property regarding my issues & feel assured they will make they're property one to return to.
A lovely home, perfect for a relaxing stay, we didn't want to leave. Would definitely come back for another stay in the future.
Wonderful accommodation, very comfortable and in a lovely location however no instructions were provided for the cooker, which took all four of us some considerable time to work out how to use.
Very impressed with the property and location
Wok and several pans are not compatible with the induction stove. Wifi does work, but it very finicky, limited in reach to kitchen area, not living room. TV needs checking Great layout, great location made all good again

There are a few things that need to be improved. Despite the Internet router saying connected we could not connect to the Internet using the info provided or on the base of the router. There needs to be an oven operation manual. The 2nd bedroom had loads of cobwebs especially down the side of the wardrobe and between the shower and basin. The shower in bedroom 2 needs a shower mat. I slipped several times. The blind in the 2nd bedroom could do with being replaced with a black out blind. When the sun rose you were instantly awake as it was way too bright. Neither of the bedroom tvs worked as would not connect to the Internet. The router shelf in the main bedroom needs repairing as falling off the wall. That said, the location and views were perfect.
Good Morning I have just returned home after spending 3 nights in your cottage. The cottage itself is beautiful, however I was thoroughly disappointed at our inability to access the internet or watch television. We did speak to the people from your Ambleside office who sent out the maintenance team, they were unable to connect the internet as they said it had been cut off from outside somewhere. They then reported this to their manager who said they would contact the owner and get back to us. As yet, Im still waiting on a return call to the only phone that could pick up a signal as the rest of us were relying on internet as two of us were visiting from Canada. My husband was supposed to be working from home and was unable to do so. We also reported a bleeping noise that went off every five minutes and kept us awake, the maintenance crew couldnt find where the noise was coming from so disconnected the flood system , this didnt rectify the problem as the bleeping still continued. I would like to suggest that the welcome pack is put on the worktop as it was in the bottom drawer and we didnt find it until yesterday. Also it would be a good idea to have instructions on how to operate the washerdryer and cooker. We could only get the oven to work. I was really disappointed as I feel I paid over 700 for 3 days and expected everything to be in working order. These are things I feel should be checked before every new arrival. Regards Lynn Crawford
The property was very clean and well equipped. The heating was a problem , far too cold in the sitting room and problems with all the TV sets and internet . Whilst I appreciate the isolation of the property , there was no signal connecting Sky handset and box through the Sky remote . The office were very efficient in sending maintenance out twice bringing a convector heater and trying to sort out TVs having visited to do this on the Monday and again on the Wednesday , I had to call the office again on the Friday regarding TVs , although declining a 3rd visit we were not desperate for a TV to watch on our last night but wanted to allow for issues to be sorted for following holiday makers . I would suggest the owners spend time sorting out the TVs and internet , upgrading the equipment . Having 3 phone calls and 2 visits for the same ongoing issues in less than a week must be expensive calling out a maintenance team and frustrating for office staff who can only best play the hand they are dealt . Whilst the listing of three TV seems impressive the realisation that not even one TV worked for the week was both disappointing and frustrating The service from the office was exemplary .
Louise
The property was well maintained although there were some small cracks visible one in front room. Also it was clean but we did find a yellow balloon from the previous stay which was behind the radiator in the main front bedroom. Some cracks on the crockery too. All in all though it was very lovely and comfortable during our stay. Views from the patio were amazing and it was very cosy. We could have stayed looking at the beautiful scenery all day. We would recommend instructions for the cooker as we had never used an electric one but we did figure it out. Definitely would recommend.

The gutter needs to be addressed above the front door as it leaks and you get soaked while opening the door , cabling in bedroom for WiFi tv main bedroom needs to be put in a safe and tidy manor,WiFi needs to be extended to the main living area TV in both bedrooms did not work , toilet in second bedroom needed securing , cleanliness, all windows needed cleaning inside and out ,cobwebs all over the property, chipped mugs welcome pack needs to include recycling information , general contact details and emergency contact details
A beautiful property , perfect for our holiday plans. Disappointed that WIFI only available in one room. Would love to think well return.
Excellent stay. Only issue is wifi router in bedroom means the signal doesnt reach the living room where you would typically sit. A mesh wifi like eero would solve the problem.
A near perfect cottage for a beautiful and quiet stay, with a perfect view too. Being in a quiet village at literal stone's throw from the Mortal Man and the Queen's head is great. We'll likely come back to this one. Only comment I could make is that the WIFI is finicky, that could take some good looking at.
Aleshia
Applethwaite View is beautifully presented. Clean and tidy and well equipped. The view is astounding and location is great for walks. If there was anything we could suggest it would be additional pillows as we prefer plumper pillows, however that truly is all we could suggest. Great stay and would 100 recommend!
Leonard
This is a great property in nice quiet location away from the tourist bustle. Easy access on arrival. Good communication prior to arrival. A couple of small things that would make it perfect. Directions from different directions as the unit as seen in the pics is not visible from the road. And a few basics provided like a couple of extra toilet rolls, hand soap etc. its a fair distance to a Tesco for things you didnt think to bring. Overall, though, wed like to go back there sometime!
Stewart
Perfect accommodation in an ideal location. Easy parking. We thoroughly enjoy our week.
We had a great stay in Applethwaite View. Good facilities, good bed, great view and good services.
Imogen
This is the best property weve had the pleasure of staying in, in the Lake District. Its warm, cozy and a home from home. We adored looking out across the valley in the mornings, and standing outside to watch the stars at night. There are endless walk and run routes from the doorstep. The property has been renovated to a very high standard and everything was thought through beautifully. Wed live here if we could!
Beautiful place and the view from the cottage was amazing but on arrival the ... Beautiful place and the view from the cottage was amazing but on arrival the cottage was dirty In a drawer in bedroom was a pair of dirty Mens pants the kitchen sides and table hadnt been cleaned the toilets well just not acceptable the bedroom carpet was filthy and the sofa in the room had seen better days dust on sky box so thick you could write your name the cobwebs and spiders in the rooms and cupboard was like great expectations a beautiful place to stay and relax if the cottage had been cleaned and looked after I had to clean before we used things and I didnt go on holiday to clean I went to relax the cleaners came back to clean the toilet pedestals they were disgusting and they removed some of the cobwebs I will add that I received a good will payment from lakelovers
We had a lovely time, super apartment in a great location.
Great view, but I do not think we would stay there again as to noisy from upstairs. Also no goodies ect wine, eggs. milk, as other cottages can provide. also no info on ANYTHING .
Tastefully furnished, warm and very comfortable. Amazing scenery !. The only problem was the bulbs in the bathroom went out on our last day. However I rang to inform you and you were willing to come and investigate. Since it was our last day we made a do. Would definitely go back to this cottage.
Arthur
The cottage is great. With very comfortable bed. Only problem was that the heating was inadequate. Especially in the lounge. It improved after the visit by maintenance. We had to call three times before they were sent out. The lounge was still too cold even though we were given an electric convector heater to plug in.
