Apple Tree Cottage Reviews

Apple tree Cottage is a wonderful, comfortable, well equipped place to stay. Its situated far enough from the main road that theres virtually no traffic noise, but the location is excellent for exploring the lakes. We really enjoyed walks from the door on the local footpaths and bridleways as well as further afield and enjoyed coming back to our cosy home from home. The only minor downside is, as has been said before, the directions provided by Sykes. I went too far up Mirk lane looking for a T junction, as did some other people looking for the cottages and we both had to reverse back down the narrow lane.
Apple tree cottage is a delightful holiday home, in a beautiful setting. We have had a perfect holiday and will definitely be back again.
Caroline
Wonderful stay at Apple cottage, beautiful place in beautiful surroundings very comfortable and well equipped

This holiday at Appletree Cottage was our fourth time of staying there we absolutely love being there. Everything is there just a lovely place to relax and enjoy will hopefully be able to return later in the year. We were pleased with the Christmas decorations it made it feel like home and thank you to Caroline and Dave for leaving us a surprise gift very nice. We wish everyone a happy new year. Thank you x
Melvyn
Ideally situated to use the local bus service. Parking immediately outside the front door. Very well equipped bungalow. The outside temperature dropped during our stay so the central heating needs to be reset. When staying at the Lakes in future, we would definitely use Apple Tree Cottage.
Jacqueline
Comfortable cottage & had everything we required. A great base to see the area. We did find the lane but drove past as I thought my sat nav was taking me off road. There is no road sign or any indication there are holiday lets at the end of the lane. A sign would be helpful. Shower was good but the door is very narrow & feels like a tight squeeze to get in. We are certainly not plus size so this could be an issue for some.
The only problem is with the directions to the cottage on Sykes website. You are directed into Mirk Lane, then asked to turn left at the Tjunction. There is no Tjunction, you arrive directly at the gate to the property. It would assist if Sykes could change the directions to reflect this.
Lovely small cottage within small set of properties with countryside outlook. Big enough for holiday needs and felt very safe and peaceful. Location does allow a short walk to the lake but you will probably need a car for longer lakeside walks if you want to avoid walking along the main road for some distance. Windermere town is a few miles away for provisions at supermarket. There are bus stops on main road at exit of property driveway so you can travel on these very cheaply along with being able to enjoy the view rather than concentrating on the road. We felt very comfortable at Apple Tree Cottage and would certainly love to come back.
Deborah
Really enjoyed our week in this relaxing, peaceful, well equipped cottage. Hope to be back. Thanks
Jacqueline
Perfect. Loved our stay. Everything we could need provided. Thank you. Will look forward to returning.
Just had a lovely break at Apple Tree Cottage, warm and comfortable, plenty of hot water. Well equipped, with everything you need to ensure a perfect stay. Well located for walking and sightseeing. Would definitely recommend this property. Couple of tiny recommendations, a small table next to the chair in the lounge area and a couple of pasta bowls would be helpful.
We very much liked Apple Tree Cottage and its facilties. It was well laid out and very homely. Our only disappointment was the shower door. The access is very small and for someone with limited mobility due to suffering 3 strokes this did pose a problem especially over 7 days.
We have stayed at this cottage before. We like the changes you have made to it.Its a very quiet cottage, with easy access to local ammenities, with a bus stop at end of lane.
Melissa
Lovely accommodation. The area was just beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay. So quiet. Information folder that was provided was very handy. Kitchen had everything we needed for our stay and the little extras to greet us when we arrived were very welcome after our drive from Cornwall, thank you. Wed happily stay here again.
We love this cottage, this is our 2nd visit. It's central to all our needs and it's like home from home.
William
We loved Apple tree cottage second time we have stayed there, its everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage, situated in a perfect position, we did the red route on Windermere ferry from Brockhole really enjoyed the day, hopefully be back next year.
We had a brilliant stay at Apple Tree Cottage and have no complaints at all. The Cottage was larger than expected, beautifully decorated and spotless. It came fully equipped with everything you will need for your stay. The cottage is located in a perfect area only a short distance from all main locations that you may want to visit. The area itself is peaceful and quiet and you really do feel safe and comfortable. The cottage is cosy and has a homely feel to it which was great. We will definitely be returning in the future and highly recommend to anyone that is looking to stay in the Lake District.

Just got back from a wonderful time at Apple Tree Cottage it was the first time for me and my partner staying in a cottage and it's a memory that will always be cherished. The welcome tray was such a nice surprise and It's a lovely place that was well equipped for all our needs, ideally situated for exploring the Lake District. Already looking to when we can stay here again.
Paul John
Lovely place to stay ! Just far enough away from town centres. Really enjoyed our stay ! Thanks
Leslie
Lovely comfortable cottage in pleasant surroundings would recommend
Perfect. Thank you.
Property is smaller than it appears in the photos. Washing machine did not work due to clogged and filthy filter. Rectified myself. Additional bin bags not provided. No dishwasher. Shower controls extremely stiff to operate and access to cubical very narrow. Man of XXL proportions would be unable to enter. Property is well positioned but over priced for what it is.
Lovely cottage, well decorated and spacious inside, also pleasant spaces to eat and sit outside. Very good provision of cooking equipment and tableware. Only one criticism, entrance to shower is very tight, we are not big people but we still found it difficult.
We had a wonderful stay at Apple Tree cottage. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed. Great location with access to some beautiful walks and other interesting activities.
Richard
Excellently located for touring the area with road, ferry and bus links within walking distance. Very well equipped. Not so much a criticism as a comment. The shower entrance door is exceedingly narrow for anyone of a larger or not very mobile frame, and may be difficult for anyone with mobility issues, particularly as once inside the property everywhere is flat.
Excellent accommodation. Everything you could possibly need is provided. Situated in a quiet setting but convenient to lots of beautiful places. Brilliant restaurantspubs in the area.
Heather
Really enjoyed our 2nd stay at Apple Tree Cottage. Warm & inviting on arrival, very clean & comfortable. Peaceful, lovely location & great views. Buses & Windermere ferry service within walking distance of cottage so didn't need to use the car every day. Already booked again for next year
Richard
Lovely little place, close to the ferry and plenty of activities.
Natalie
A lovely, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. The only downside was that upon arrival I had to clean grease off the top of the oven and worktop. I didnt mind this initially as it wasnt a big job, but when the cleaner turned up at 9.50am on the day of departure saying she had to clean thoroughly and she had to get in as a storm was coming it did seem slightly ironic.
Our stay at Apple Tree Cottage was amazing. The cottage is beautiful, and in an excellent location. When we arrived we went for a walk to the nearby park on the banks of Lake Windermere, only a ten minute walk away. When we entered the cottage it felt cosy and warm right away. The bed was very comfy, as were the chairs in the living room. All information was given in the handy booklet and we were very happy. I hope we can return here one day as it offers the perfect Lake District stay.
A two year wait to get back to Appletree, thankfully all was as expected, lovely and cosy and spotlessly clean as usual. Weather could have been better but never the less my wife and I had a nice break in a wonderful setting, can't wait to go back.
Pamala
Once again we have had a lovely holiday at Apple Tree cottage. As soon as you open the door its like coming back home so comfortable and inviting so central to all the Lakes we shall hopefully come again. I would definitely recommend it to everyone for two people its lovely and nice and quiet on a gated estate.
Alison
Apple Tree Cottage was a real pleasure to stay in. The location is fantastic and we really appreciated the quality of the Cottage. It felt really abundant.
Christine
A lovely cottage, clean, well equipped, good quality furnishings and in a good central location for getting around. The cottage is part of a characterful complex of properties on the Merewood Estate, quiet and private, with well kept grounds. I would just mention that if, like me, guests are considering this property as being suitable for people with limited mobility, that the access to the shower is 10 inches high, with a drop down into the shower tray of 5 inches. Unfortunately this proved too difficult for me, but my husband said it was a lovely shower! The bed is comfortable, but the matress is very soft, with a noticable hollow on the right side, and in the middle, if one of us turned over, we landed in a heap in the middle! Altogether a very enjoyable stay at Apple Tree Cottage.
William
Apple Tree Cottage was everything we hoped for in regards to its comfort and location, we really enjoyed our stay, however we thought the cleaning could have been better and we found a half mouldy loaf in the bread bin.
Very much enjoyed our third visit to Apple Tree Cottage an excellent and convenient location. The cottage has everything needed for a comfortable stay in this glorious area.
Heather
The cottage was spotlessly clean & very comfortable. In a lovely setting & an ideal location for exploring The Lakes. Highly recommend this property.
