Juniper Cottage Reviews

Juniper cottage was like a home from home. Without doubt 5 stars. Near enough to be within easy reach of local services but far enough away to feel like you are 'away from it all'. Facilities were first class and the cottage was very well equipped. Very comfortable beds. Immaculately prepared.

Lovely Place to stay with a beautiful view . . house have all the facilities even provided extra blankets for guests.. House is beautiful inside out .. we loved a our stay and will book this again and again
Lovely cottage with great views from the garden, and easy walks very close by. A relaxing week in a quiet location but not too far as not to be able to walk to Bowness and the facilities it has to offer. The cottage is a good size with plenty of small items for convenience in the kitchen, not often found in holiday homes. The cottage could do with some freshening up but on the whole I would recommend it as a good base in the Lake District
This was our 7th stay at this property and while I realise the house needs some modernising, eg kitchen, we can't help but notice the cleanliness has definitely not been the same lately. The bathroom toilet left me retching you could see the thick black crusty gunge under the rim from the doorway! The mould and cobwebs over many windows, especially in living room.

Beautiful situation great views. Nice accommodation which has been upgraded with good quality furnishings. Owner very quick to respond to a query. Thoroughly recommend!

Juniper cottage is set in the most beautiful settings. The garden is beautifully maintained and private. The cottage is spacious and in good order. The little instructions around the house help you easily settle in and understand its quirks. We had a wonderful week and are already planning a future visit To address some comments about the rubbish we also had difficulty having enough space for ours in the bin but when asked, we were informed that there is no regular collection because of its location down a small lane so collection has to be agreed and paid for privately. Getting out of the lane onto the main road is tricky as it's a blind spot. Open your window to listen for approaching traffic.

Lovely views and lovely area. Very secluded and peaceful. Beds were very comfortable .Directions to get there could of been better as only had directions from M6 and used the A road. Needs a paint and re fresh. On arrival there was a bin bag outside that had been torn apart so had to clean up.Not any room left in bin for our rubbish.Dust under sofa and on top of pictures not good .Seems like cleaner had a quick wipe round rather than a good clean.patio area needs a good weed.If the effort was put into this place it would be 5 .
Fantastic location, peace and quiet apart from noisy lambs, Lol! My sister had just had a major operation, so it was great for her recuperation. The house was great, well set out, with everything that we needed and more. Garden was lovely, lots of birds and other wildlife to watch.
Melanie
Wonderful stay at Juniper Cottage The house is very accommodating a high standard The views are breathtaking
A very enjoyable stay in this lovely cottage. Two good sized double bedrooms as well as the two singles made for a great family holiday home. The property was not spick and span but adequate, with a good level of equipment about the place as well as lots of small items not usually found in holiday cottages. The welcome pack was a nice touch. The garden is a beautiful space and with deer appearing at the bottom fence in the early morning, only adding to it's appeal. Being outside in the almost complete silence of the area was very relaxing. My only criticism would be the showers and hot water temperature, which would both be easily remedied. Overall I would recommend this cottage as a holiday home.

The location of the property and the house itself is stunning. Beautifully peaceful spot with walks straight from the door and an abundance of wildlife. However, the general standard of maintenance and cleaning is poor. This is our third time at this property and standards seem to have declined each time, to the point that I don't think we will book again. None of the points raised by previous reviewers have been actioned. None of the showers work properly, general dust and dirt for example under furniture and sofa cushions, missing TV remote, dirty baking sheets and lacking some basic kitchen utensils. Such a shame, for the sake of a deep clean and a bit of household maintenance, this property would be perfect.
We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay at Juniper Cottage it is very comfortable and wellequipped, and it was nice to have a welcome pack. What makes the cottage really special is the views across to the fells westwards fabulous and everchanging. Lovely walks from the door, and in a very peaceful position.
Overall a good stay as the location and views cant be faulted. With a little bit of TLC and better cleaning this property could be amazing. There is a lot of maintenance work which needs to be completed, which to be fair we were warned about and were told by Sykes we would get a 30 refund for which we have yet to see. However aside from the paintwork and maintenance issues such as the downstairs shower attachment rusted and broken off, the level of cleanliness wasnt really up to scratch. For example hairs and crumbs under sofa cushions, hairs in bedroom chest of drawers and a sticky hairdryer. There was also some condensation mould on the wall in the main bathroom which could easily have been wiped away before we arrived. All of which could be easily fixed with a good cleaning service. As mentioned the location and views were great walks straight from the door, and the welcome pack was really appreciated. My last gripe though, which I thought was pretty low was that most of the hand soaps and washing up liquid had been topped up with water so we were essentially washing with frothy water. Not great
Wonderful position love the views from every aspect. Excellent location to travel from to explore area. This was our second visit to this property, no doubt, will be back.

This is our fourth stay at Juniper Cottage, as a family we absolutely love the cottage and the surrounding area. Upon arrival this time we were not met with the usual high standards of cleanliness or high quality finishings and decor within the property. It is quite evident the cottage is undergoing some upgrades, however this was not relayed to us, nor reflected in the price. There is black mould on the ceilings in the bedrooms and the blinds in the shower room, stains on the dining room cushions and sofa and half done paint jobs in around the property. We are usually met with a spotless property that you feel proud to be staying in, however this time there was rubbish discarded in cupboards and drawers, thick dust and uncleaned floors. Despite trying to get in touch with lakelovers throughout our stay, we have had no reply.
Sylvia
Amazing cottage and views were spectacular lovely peaceful place to stay. Everything included for what you need for a break away could do with a lick of paint here and there and could do with a good dust to remove cobwebs and some cleaning under the large sofas , apart from that a lovely place
Its our 4th visit to Juniper Cottage start with the bad, no hand soap in any bathrooms upon arrival, not enough hand towels to serve the bathrooms, ensuite doesnt drain water so you cant use this shower, bins werent collected and 34 full upon arrival, only 4 bowls and 2 wine glasses, Lakelovers never answer the phone they fob you off with digital means of conversation which takes them hours to respond. Good points, stunning location, very homely feel, easy access to the lakes, super quiet and relaxing, overall a good break away its just a shame that over the years previous guests have abused the property to make it quiet run down!
What a beautiful, perfect holiday home. Grounds well maintained, house nice and clean for arrival, and a nice welcome gift of bread, butter, milk and a cake. Kitchen well stocked, and beautiful views from all windows. Beds were very comfortable, showers were ok, nice hot water but not overly powerful. Some really nice furniture and decorations. Very clear instructions on how things work. Lots of lovely little extras such as a printer, DAB radios, books and the most wonderful washerdryer. We had an issue with the waste collection whilst there, but the very friendly owner responded to us very promptly and took action to resolve. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday here, and would highly recommend.

Lovely comfortable cottage in an amazing location. I loved cooking in the kitchen which had such brilliant views. Just a few suggestions on items to include in the kitchen egg cups, rolling pin and a non stick frying pan. The rubbish in the wheelie bin hadnt been emptied and we couldnt find where this was as it had been locked away in the garage which we had no access to. However, after messaging the housekeeper Claire, she came back really promptly to say leave our rubbish in the garage and gave us the key code.
A beautiful original Lakeland cottage. Fully equipped with many lovely personal touches, to cover every need. Stunning location, secluded and quiet, the most amazing sunsets from the side patio area. Certainly a place to put you back in nature, casting off any pent up tension and just relax and enjoy the true Lake District scenery and wildlife around you.
We absolutely loved our stay, definitely recommended. Thank you for the welcome grocery pack, so appreciated. We will definitely be returning next year to celebrate our pearl wedding anniversary Hopefully for 2 weeks instead of 1
Adrian
Fabulous property. Not enough was made about the views, they're stunning. The house was spotless when we arrived, I really cant fault it. If I was nit picking, the heating and hot water were probably a few deg cooler than I would have liked but it wouldn't stop me rebooking.
Oven needs some flat baking sheets. But otherwise A1 accomodation. Would definitely consider future visits.
The cottage was absolutely perfect, spacious, clean, and with a whole array of modern ameneties to make the stay even better. The lviving room was spacious with plenty of sofa space and a lovely view through the many windows. Having a gas BBQ was very useful and easy to use. The location was also perfect, close to Lake Windemere and the town of Bowness, but at the same time remote enough to see and hear almost nobody. Higly reccomend Juniper Cottage and we will almost certainly be back.
A fantastic house with a brilliant garden and truly amazing location. A short walk from the house either up the hill for a stunning view of Lake Windermere or down the hill into Windermere itself. We will definitely come back here.
Caroline
Juniper Cottage was the perfect location for my family and I to celebrate my son's 30th birthday. The cottage had everything we could need and the beautiful setting and surrounding countryside blew us all away! My son and his girlfriend were thrilled with the master bedroom with ensuite. The decor and perfect accessories around the house were also a treat for the eyes, especially the ornate light shades in the hall and dining room. I would recommend the cottage highly
Loved the cottage and location was perfect. Bread board and baking tray would have been handy but otherwise really well equipped. Thank you
Deborah
A lovely property in a fabulous location. A well appointed property with everything you need and more ! It was an excellent base and we were happy to spend days at home to immerse ourselves in the surrounding countryside for the full experience of living in The Lakes ! A highly recommended property !
Delightful property but needed more kitchen equipment, specifically another mid sized saucepan, more cutlery, children's plastic plates and a bigger fridge for 6 people. Rooms were fabulous, location was wonderful.
Christopher
Excellent house in excellent location
Absolutely perfect quiet location with beautiful gardens and stunning views.
Robert
Beautiful property in glorious location with everything we needed for a wonderful break. Even the weather was excellent. Will happily return if the opportunity presents itself.
Tremendous cottage in enviable location. Warm, cosy, and well equipped. Fantastic stay.
The heating thermostats need addressing. In the main bedroom even when on the ice setting they blast out. We had a baby with us who needed heating higher in his room but if we turned the heating up to accommodate him then our room was boiling. It wasnt great.! So if those 2 thermostats are addressed then that should resolve it. The only other thing is the hot water. It was very limited and seemed to go from hot to warm after the first person had a shower. Other than that I would highly recommend the property and we enjoyed the area and facilities it sits in. I would have given 5 stars had it not been for the heatingwater issue.
Took a full week to replace a missing cafetiere!
Our second visit to Juniper cottage didn't disappoint. It was just as lovely as we remembered, a perfect place to unwind and relax.
Brilliant accommodation with beautiful gardens in a lovely quiet location with fabulous views.
Andrew
Juniper is in a fantastic location which we really enjoyed being in. Lovely garden to sit in with great views and lots of great walks from the doorstep. Inside was acceptable in the main and many small details were addressed like spare bulbs, batteries etc. We only realised on the Wednesday that there was no smoke alarm upstairs and no carbon monoxide alarm in the house which is disgusting as they are a legal requirement and we unwittingly spent 4 nights without. We reported this and it was rectified by Lakelovers very quickly which was good. We asked why this legal requirement was not checked properly and didn't get a satisfactory reply. All we got was a comment from maintenance department saying they were 'surprised we didn't spot it sooner'. Well, I obviously did a better job spotting it than whoever is responsible for safety over the years. Many of the double glazed units were misted making the view out misty and there was only one small meat roasting tray for the oven and no other oven trays or tins for the lovely large oven. We had to buy some ourselves. Some previous guests had also commented on these points in the visitor book along with a comment that the house was a bit 'tired', and we would have to agree. On stripping the beds to leave we found some badly stained pillow protectors and a stained mattress, something also commented on in previous feedback. We did have a nice week at Juniper despite what I have written but the unfortunate but avoidable issues are present and disappointing to find and I regret having to make my comments but it is best to speak as you find. It is a place we would have loved to stay at again but now won't be doing so.
