Jaspers Retreat Reviews

The house is lovely, excellent condition and very clean. The key box is on right at bottom of steps so tricky to find as we arrived in the dark as it is not by front door. The black gate metal had been left open and was resting against the black metal fence so again difficult to see as we arrived in the dark, but we spotted it in the morning only relevant to us as we had dogs so needed a secure garden. The countryside around house is beautiful. Excellent dog walking very close by. I cannot fault Jaspers retreat in any way.
Jaspers retreat is a stunning property with 3 comfortable beds, 3 beautifully appointed bathrooms, a lovely kitchendinerlounge with fabulous views. The underfloor heating makes it really cosy on cold days as we had. Its a great location with walks up to Brantfell from the door. Access down the steep road takes you to Bowness on Windemere with lots of shops and eateries. The lake cruises 510 min walk from the door take you to Ambleside and various other day trips or you can catch the open top bus up to stunning Grasmere which is a little quieter than Bowness and Ambleside. Everything in the house worked well apart from some of the internal window blinds so we couldnt close them all at night. There are no curtains upstairs. The deck area is fabulous to sit out if weather allows and it is very peaceful despite being so central. Our whippet was very happy to have underfloor heating too!
We really enjoyed our stay here , fabulous views kitchen well equipped beds really comfortable. We had a really relaxing stay, so good weve booked for next year
Had a fantastic week at Jaspers Retreat, A really lovely property with fantastic views of Lake Windermere and nice central location to explore the Lakes.
Lovely stay at Jaspers retreat, the house is stunning with beautiful views over the lake. Location is great, no need to use the car. You can walk down in to the town and get one of the many boats or walk up over the fell into Windermere, wheres theres shops and restaurants, and also a train station, if you want to venture further afield. We will definitely be returning & would highly recommend. Its a beautiful, comfortable home with everything you need to come back to after walking miles, plus comfortable beds.
WOW Simply Incredible! This home far exceeded our expectations even more beautiful than the photos! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how stylish, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped everything was. Its a stunning home, impeccably decorated, with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and luxurious stay. There was more than enough space for our group of five 2 adults and 3 older teens. On the entrylevel floor, theres a lovely double bedroom, a modern bathroom and utility room. Just a few steps up brings you to the heart of the home an openplan kitchen, dining and lounge area with stunning of the lake. The large balcony was perfect we were blessed with week of sunshine so made the most of this space, and watched some stunning sunsets from there. Everything in the home feels highquality and well cared for nothing felt overlooked or secondrate. Downstairs, the two additional bedrooms and bathrooms were equally lovely spacious, comfortable and beautifully furnished. The location is great it is up a steep hill great for the views! and just a short walk into Bowness but it was very peaceful. While Bowness felt a little busier and slightly different than we remembered from previous visits, the beauty of the home and its setting more than made up for it. We left feeling refreshed, relaxed and we would definitely return. Highly, highly recommend!

Six of us stayed for a 60th birthday celebration, beautiful property in a fabulous location, five minute walk down into Bowness town with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants or walk from the property up the hill into the countryside. Well equipped with quality pans, crockery etc, missing a cafetire as Im not a fan of pod coffee. Beds very comfy and showers great. Only downside was the heating, the main living, kitchen area was cold even with the thermostat at 22 degrees and even though we lit the log burner every night, it wasnt overly warm. Beautiful views of the lake from the decking. Would definitely recommend

We loved our stay at Jaspers Retreat. Everything was catered for and more. The property was amazing. The views of the lakes , hills and forests were breathtaking. Decor and attention to detail made our stay relaxing after long walks. The property itself has a great location for Exploring the Lakes. Our dogs loved the walks up the hill to Brant fell , the start was a short stroll from the house . We had an amazing taster meal at Simon Rogans , Henrock restaurant a truly fabulous culinary experience. If you are looking for a luxury property with a great location you cant go wrong with Jaspers retreat. Lisa the owner was extremely helpful. We look forward to returning soon

Spend a lovely week here with family. There was a range of ages in our party. Myself and my husband and our 23 month old. There was also both sets of grandparents ranging from from 70 to 80 years, and 2 dogs. The house was beautiful and spacious, and has everything you could need. Gorgeous views across the lake and beyond and lovely outside furniture if you get nice weather. Its quite a steep hill to and from the cottage but theres a gentler route, if you turn left down the first bit of hill when coming out of the cottages street and then turn right onto a side street, it brings you out at a childrens playground and The Angel Inn pub and its not so steep to head out on foot. We had an issue with the hob not heating up and we tried everything, Sykes were really quick to get someone out to us. Turns out the big blue pan is not compatible with an induction hob, so really it needs removing so you doesnt happen again. The house has lots of board games which was great and the sky glass tv had movies and sports and Netflix so it was perfect for relaxing after a long day. We absolutely loved our trip and will definitely be back to Jaspers Retreat.
Jasper's Retreat was the most well equipped holiday home we've ever stayed in. The house itself was stunning and very comfortable. The views over Windermere were just amazing, even though the weather didn't always play ball.
Allison
The photos do not do this place justice. Fabulous views, beautiful property, peaceful but convenient location.
Victoria
Fantastic house and beautifully decorated and furnished. A huge well done to the owners! We loved it so much, we booked for next year already but it does come with a 'but'! The bedroom and ensuite doors and handles are incredibly noisy. It took a lot of effort from some family members not to disturb those that had gone to bed already. This would be the only consideration for us retaining our 2025 booking. If this can be sorted then we are definitely returning. Thanks again to the owners. We loved it.
Jonathan
We loved staying at Jasper Lodge and fully intend to return in the future.
Debbie
Absolutely beautiful house, well situated to enjoy all that Bowness On Windemere has to offer. Top end fixtures and fittings, super comfortable beds and pillows something that is all too often overlooked by owners and superbly located for enjoying this wonderful area. We were blown away by this property and highly recommend staying here.
Michael
Great property, in very good order! Third bedroom was a little small with tiny bathroom across the hallway which was a little inconvenient! Bed was well used ! All other rooms very well presented in good order ! Great walking out of the door ! Very steep either way !
The property was absolutely immaculate. Its proximity to the centre of Bowness on Windermere gave access to all the facilities and attractions on foot. The views over Bowness on Windermere were breathtaking. The property was tastefully decorated and the patio doors that opened out onto the balconies from every room were amazing. Despite the closeness to all the amenities it was so peaceful and secluded. We would definitely stay again. We had a slight issue when we were there and the property manager dealt with it immediately.
The extractor fan didnt work in one of the bathrooms so it steamed up. It was also cold in the lounge even when we lit the fire. The double beds were also very small. Overall the house was lovely though and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Plenty of glasses and crockery in the kitchen. Lovely views over the lake from the balcony.
What an amazing property! ! Stunning. Everything provided for a very comfortable stay. 5 plus holiday. Will be back again and again. Views were amazing. This property is a credit to the owners. Thank you.
A few issues covered by email to Sykes Cottage's, otherwise it was a great well needed change of scenery staying in a well appointed house.
We stayed at Jasper's Retreat in November for a week. Weather wasn't brilliant but still found plenty to do. There was 6 of us and 3 dogs. There was plenty of room for all. The accommodation was big and roomy but still cosy. The underfloor heating and fire was great on the chilly evenings. The bathrooms were fab as was the walk in showers. Plenty of hot water. The bedrooms are a great size and the beds were very comfortable and all have good sized TVs. The kitchen had everything you could of wished for...plenty of cutlery, plates, dishes, mugs, glasses etc. The dining room table is big with plenty of elbow room and the furniture in the seating area is big and comfortable. Great size T.V too. The views are spectacular. I would love to go again in the summer months to be able to sit outside and look at those views. We did have a power cut due to storm Debi arriving but it really didn't bother us as we had torches and it didn't last that long, only around half hour. Great shopping in the town too. Good choice of restaurants and pubs. The dogs loved it too and didn't get under each others paws as there was plenty of room for them. They are biggish dogs too...Rottweiler, Alsatian and a medium sized rescue dog. Great field just up the hill for them to have a run round and also a park area down by the lake which is very secure and fenced off. Thank you for a great stay. We will no doubt be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jaspers Retreat. It was a super base for our week in the Lake District. The house is very comfortable, well equipped and has been tastefully designed with lovely bedrooms and a loungedining area with views of Windermere and plenty of space for 3 couples to socialise. Our host was quick to address minor maintenance problems as soon as we reported them to her. We really hope to return in the future as we loved this property and its location.
Joanne
Beautiful property with stunning views over Lake Windermere. Beautifully decorated, large comfortable beds and plenty of room for our extended family and 2 dogs, would highly recommend and we will definitely return.
Norman
This is a beautiful property in lovely surroundings. A nice welcome pack was left including a bottle of prosecco. There is a well laid out open plan kitchen, dining and living area with a veranda and seating with extensive views to the lake and the hills opposite. Our weather was unfortunately not good enough to let us use it more than twice. There was a good range of board games in the lounge. Having good views also comes at a slight cost in that the property is at the top of quite a steep hill. We didnt find this a great problem despite two of our party being in their 70s. The three bedrooms were roomy and comfortable with 2 having ensuite bathrooms. We had some doubt about what the cleaners had done before our arrival. The bathroom floors had been mopped, but the floor still had loose mop strands or dog hair on the floor. One of our party spent an hour hoovering up dog hair and spider webs some with residents from room corners and along door frames. There was also a pair of pants that had been there for some time on one of the outdoor decks. The main TV in the lounge is a Sky Glass unit that I believe is directly connected to broadband. While we had no problems with laptops or phones using the wifi the TV regularly had sync issues between the picture and sound. Our solution was to watch it on catch up after the programme had been running for several minutes. As said above, this is a lovely property in a great location, and would definitely considerate it again for a holiday. We notice from the owners replies to other comments that they are planning some extensive upgrades next year. Can I suggest then, consideration be given putting full length mirrors in the bedrooms, preferably close to a power point, so ladies can use a hair dryer near a mirror. One bedroom only had a mirror in the bathroom with a razor point. Alternatively, a dressing table with a mirror near a power point would be good.
We came back from a wonderful week at Jaspers Retreat yesterday 8923. There were 6 of us and a dog, one couple both 60 and two couple in their earlymid thirties and we absolutely loved it we were very lucky with the weather hottest week of the year so far!. Facilities, views, position were stunning couldve done with air con though
Jaspers retreat is a beautiful property with stylish and quality furnishings. It was cosy and comfortable, and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. This is truly a home from home and we would definitely return. The open plan kitchen, dining and living area was a joy.. well thought out and with stunning lake views. The bedrooms and bathrooms were beautiful and I can honestly say the beds were the most comfortable we have slept in over the 14 years we have been visiting the lakes. The outside balcony area was lovely, unfortunately we didnt have enough of a dry spell to make much use of it, but a lovely place to sit and take in the views. One small point was that the decking felt like it needed a little attention.. and being so high up it could make you a little nervous to walk on. There isnt much of a useable garden, which is a shame as we love a garden, but we knew this before we booked so it wasnt a surprise. The location was great, and gave fabulous views, but those with walking difficulties would struggle with the climb back up the hill. All in all, Jaspers retreat is a joy. Thank you for sharing
This is the second time we have stayed at Jaspers Retreat and it remains a fantastic property in most respects. Fantastically situated with great views over the lake and access on to Brant Fell literally from the end of the road. The property is very spacious, with great bedrooms and bathroom facilities. Our only negative was noticing just a few minor elements, which could do with some TLC and addressing. For example some corners of the showers looked a little shabby, cutlery and kitchenware could do with updating etc. On their own, just small things but with a property this impressive in most areas you would expect it to be followed through in all aspects and it would be a shame for it to be let down by what are very easily fixable things. Overall, though, another wonderful stay.
We have stayed many times in The Lake District over the years and Jaspers Retreat is definitely the best Accommodation, absolutely stunning, views are incredible and they really have thought of everything. Just a recommendation to the property owners is to get some new crockery as quite a few of the Dinner plates and a couple of the mugs had cracks so havent got much more life in them. We will 100 return.
Amazing beautiful property Had everything we needed and more Clean Well ... Amazing beautiful property Had everything we needed and more Clean Well equipment Cannot find one fault apart from wish I could have stayed longer
A beautiful house within easy walking distance of Bowness town centre, with its shops and pubs, but in a quiet location with parking for up to three cars. The house was well equipped for our party of six adults.
Overall the property looks stunning with beautiful views and a great style. The location is central and parking was not a problem. Beds were comfortable and amenities were good. There were a few things that were disappointing and would benefit from improvements. when we arrived we had to get the vacuum out to hoover the living areas as there was bits, dust and crums all over the living area floor. Used Soap and fluff balls behind the bath in the master bathroom. Handles missing off the wardrobes and some of the bedside tables, toilet seat was loose in the downstairs ensuite room. There was dog mess in the garden which I stood in when taking my dogs out. Cheap plastic hangers in some of the wardrobes and not a sufficient amount of hangers for multiple guests. No extra pillows other than those on the bed. For the price I would of expected better, but nothing that couldnt be fixed or resolved for future.
Christine
Jaspers retreat is a spectacular holiday home. From the minute you walk through the door you're cocooned in a welcoming warm house. It's very clean and comfortable. We slept well in bed all three rooms boasting different beds and decor. Spacious bathrooms with the softest of towels and no end of hot water. A well equipped kitchen helped when we wanted to cook. The views of the fells from the balcony are lovely. It's dog friendly which meant our canine friends enjoyed their holiday too. The managing agents were tip top too. IF YOU CHOOSE THIS LAKELAND HOLIDAY HOME YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
Jaspers retreat was an amazing property and made me very jealous that I dont have a property like this myself, would definitely return , couldnt fault it, views are amazing too, we had ice and snow whilst there and can prove difficult to access if weather is bad.
Judith
Fantastic property loved the extra touches, wine, biscuits, hand soaps etc. Definitely experienced some luxury. The only constructive comment I can offer is regarding the woodkindling considering the size of property & staying for a week I think being a little more generous with this would be something to think about we were actually left with 7 pieces of kindling however I would stay here again in a flash.
Beautiful property with everything we could have needed. Will definitely be returning!
Brilliant house, real luxury and beautifully furnished, lovely little touches in the house and high end products.
Tracey
I was disappointed that no woodfirefighterskindling was left for the log burner, not advertised as being supplied and as pointed out by the agents upon contacting them but I feel it would be considerate to have it at the property in a log store, even if it needs to be replaced if used as per the dishwasher tablets as after arriving 19. 00 after a long journey on a congested M6 tired & hungry, no wood present for the log burner was rather disappointing. Also, the marketing details for the spa is somewhat misleading as I feel it should clearly state that the spa leisure facilities is 2.4 miles down the road. Again, this was a disappointment which resulted in the facilities not being used.
Beautiful house. Weve stayed several times before. Central to everything. Had some new additions. Sky glass tv was fab and new sofas and furniture all looked great and comfortable. Lisa the owner was so helpful and lovely. We will visit again and again.
Wow. What an amazing house and setting. Probably the best we have ever rented. The house was luxurious, beautifully decorated and it was obvious that the owners had put a great deal of thought to ensure our every need was catered for. We will definately be returning. Thank you
