Hayloft Reviews

My second time back to this place. Last time was 9 years ago and place was still immaculate. Superb location only a few mins walk from the town centre. Parking was always available outside. Place itself is beautiful with everything you need inside. The heating inside was brilliant but you do have a lovely fireplace as well if you wish to have that on. TV worked well and lots of different lighting to choose from to suit your mood. The kitchen is a great size!!! With all the bits you need for a comfortable stay. Bathroom has a nice bath and also a large shower. You get towels on arrival so these you do not need to bring. Highly recommend a stay here if you are visiting the Lakes.
Great place bed was really comfortable good location For Windermere and buses totally recommended
We arrived at the Hayloft at 4pm Friday to find an obviously broken bed we called Sykes to report this as there was no direct number for the owner and after about 90 minutes they got back to us to say maintenance would not get out to us until the following day could we prop it up ourselves! They mended the bed Saturday morning and replaced light bulbs in 2 lamps that did not work. On Saturday we found the oven did not work by this time the Sykes phone line was for emergencies only so we used Sykes online message form to report the oven by Monday lunchtime wed had no response so we called Sykes again to be told better to phone as we dont look always look at the messages! We also reported that several of the ceiling spotlights werent working. Maintenance did attend that afternoon to check the oven and advised we needed a new one could we manage until the following day we did point out wed already been waiting 2 days so they said theyd see what they could do. They replaced the oven the following day. The Hayloft is in a great location within easy walking distance of shops cafes restaurants etc It is surprisingly spacious and furnished well although the sofa in the living area has seen better days! Superficially the apartment seemed clean but on closer inspection it was very dusty with cobwebs everywhere. The shower is great but the shower tray leaks into the bathroom floor. The kitchen needs chopping boards and baking trays, the knives need sharpening and crockery replacing as many items were chipped. Once the bed was mended it was very comfortable but directly above the bed is a skylight and so we were woken around 45 by the sunlight this had been raised by previous guests and could easily be solved by fitting a blackout blind. Overall although we loved the area we would not stay at Hayloft again.
The property was exactly as described. It was very clean and everything was very clear to us on arrival. Would definitely recommend
Having stayed at the Hayloft many years ago, it was a shame to return to it in this way. The booking was last minute, but after a few hours delay we were assured it was ready for guests. On arrival we found it full of cobwebs and dead insects like it had been empty for a while. The kitchen was like a crime scene with what we hope was red sauce and not blood stains on the tiles, the walls, the floors, the cupboards and the cooker hood. The cupboards were full of crockery and glasses which were stained and greasy to the touch with obvious food residue on them. Worst still the pillow cases had either blood or more red sauce on them which was not the ideal start to a first night holiday rest. A day cleaning most of this up ourselves and running the dishwasher a few times helped make things satisfactory. An offer of a repeat clean was declined as we had planned a short escape for peace and privacy. Feel reluctant to leave a poor review for a place we previously loved, but the photographs show that the return was far from the standard we expected to come back to.
Hair dryer would have been handy. Basic things like, washing liquid, kitchen roll, foil or clingfilm
Loved the hayloft, good for walking either into Windermere one way or Boness the other way, could do with a fan as its very hot, also weeds at the front door not very welcoming, apart from that we loved it.
After a long drive we arrived to find that the property had not been cleaned. The main bin in the living room was full along with rubbish in the bathroom and bedroom bins. The bedding had not been replaced nor had the towels. There was washing up on the side. We were asked to vacate the premises do that cleaning could be arranged. The stay itself was pleasant. We would recommend that the TV is replaced as it has lines down the right side and across the bottom quarter of the screen. We would also recommend that the main settee is replaced as it offers no support at all. Premises is well suited to explore the South lakes area but we are not able to recommend it to others
Jessica
We enjoyed our stay, it is a lovely place, plenty of space to relax and cook in and felt very private. Some more loo roll would be nice and maybe some spray to clean kitchen surfaces.
Sylvia
On the whole the accommodation was good, warm and roomy. Location was excellent easy parking and everywhere within reasonable walking distance. Comfortable bed. A good supply of crockery and glasses etc. A negative was that there is a velux window right above the bed, so when it rains during the night it is very noisy. Another visitor mentioned the launderette in their feedback. We did not have any problems at all and wouldn't have known we were above the launderette. Unfortunately we left an item at the property and the staff were very helpful in having it returned.
Steven
The Hayloft was exactly what the pictures describe We had no problems with the Laundry place next door as in other reviews If you had any worries all you have to do is open the windows on the other side as there are plenty of windows to choose from. The Hayloft was a really nice place to stay and close to all the amenities you could wish for.
Great location and really comfy bed, though the blinds arent too effective if you fancy a lie in. Suggestion to add an iron and a clothes maiden would be handy.
Jillian
Nobody informed us that property was joined on to a launderette which was noisy at times. The bedding was certainly well below standard, ill fitting, wrong size duvet cover, certainly not fit for purpose and having no fastenings.Despite these few annoyances it was a lovely trendy apartment and we had a great time.
Callum
Some fixtures in the property, specifically the window handles and kitchen cabinets are loose and appear damaged.
Dont get me wrong, this is a lovely loft apartment with good facilities and we enjoyed our stay in it. Great location quiet and handy for Windermere and Bowness. Slight negatives Cleanliness was ok but there was a general feeling that it doesnt get a thorough clean between stays for example, when we moved the luggage chest to use as a coffee table, it was very clearly dirty around it. There are blinds on the roof windows, but they dont actually block out any light. Thats fine in the main living area, but if the suns up at 0500hrs the bedroom is in daylight, particularly as there is a roof window directly above the bed. Star gazers may enjoy it, but there should be an option to blackout the room! TV aerial lead is too short if the TV is pivoted to be viewed from the two seater, it pulls on the aerial cable and sometimes loses the connection. Its not 5 star unless its perfect!
We had a lovely 1 week stay at Hayloft in August. It's a great place and a fab location. The road it's on is fairly quiet so there was always a space to park and it's only a short walk to the main area of Windermere. We stayed during a heatwave week and as it's an attic conversion it was pretty hot up there! However, the window above the bed is perfect so there's always a slight breeze at night. 100 recommend.
The Hayloft is decorated and furnished to a high standard. .Unfortunately the premises next door is a commercial laundrette. Working 7days a week from 7am 7pm. The laundry dryer ventilation system is aimed at the same level , to the sky lights at the hayloft ... The fibres and warm air , from the flues fill the hayloft, therefore you must close all skylights in the property, not ideal, when the outside temperature is 29 degrees. With no balcony or outside area the hayloft is very restrictive .
Directions to property need updating. No Lakelovers office next door and fireplace shop now a laundry. Makes it less easy to spot the front door. The laundry that is now next door is quite obtrusive. The machines start between 8 and 9 everyday until the evening and can be heard in the hayloft. If the skylights on that side of the property are left open, then the warm air and fluff from the vents gets blown in. This reduces theluxury feel of the apartment and meant we could not leave them open during what was thankfully a very hot week. A small coffee table would be handy as would a clothes horse as the washing machine has no drying function that I could see. No instructions on rubbish or recycling so brought the plastic home.
This place is genuinely so nice, I think the swanky kitchen and bathroom have got to be the standouts.
A very nice 'cottage'. It was perfect for what we wanted a cosy cottage for two within walking distance of the shops and pubs bars etc. in Windermere. Woodburning stove very good. Bed very comfortable. Excellent bath and shower. We'll definitely consider coming back to the Hayloft in the future. Thank you. Nb. thanks to Karl and your services team who managed to open a broken washing machine on the day of our departure and retrieve our clothes which were still in the machine! The guys came over very quickly. Much appreciated.
Excellent apartment that was very comfortable. Good location in a quiet street within walking distance to Windemere and Bowness. Loved the Lake District and hope to visit again soon.
Location, quality and ambience of the property.
The location is ideal, walking distance for Bowness as well as all the amenities for Windermere. The layout and decor is fabulous, very high quality and we very much relaxed during our stay here. Definitely coming back to the Hayloft. The pub around the corner also serves great food too.
This is our first time visiting the Lake District and we couldnt think of anything negative about the area or our property. The hayloft was exceptional for its location, cleanliness and facilities total value for money. Everyone we met were so friendly and helpful and will be booking again
