Greenstyles Reviews

Beverley
An absolutely fabulous cottage. It is so comfortable and everything that you could need or want has been thought of. The only thing we didnt like was that we had to leave!
In short, Greenstyles is a wonderful cottage. It's large, easily holding a busy family of four gorgeous conservatory for reading the evenings away, big windows to sit and read in whilst watching the cows out the front or the boats on the lake out the back. Wonderfully laid out spaces and we were so very happy in our time there. Its really nicely maintained, clean and has an incredible view across its huge garden. If you could transport it away from that road its sat upon where cars speed past day and night and make it dangerous for dogs it would be dream home territory. But you do have to consider some points if you're coming with a small family or with a dog. More detailed response The house itself is an old stone cottage that has been extended with a really really useful utility for wet things. You go in through this way from the driveway and it expands across the kitchen diner, then hallway and lounge. Leading to the conservatory. All tastefully maintains and decorated. A real credit to the owners. It has a beautifully huge, long garden on a steep bank that's perfect for kids to explore, but less so for dogs. The problem is that to the right of the garden is a drive way for the house at the bottom of the garden, of which I'm guessing is also a rental as they boomed music out at night and kept on leaving the gate to the main road open. And no one who has ever lived in the countryside would do that. The unsecured garden which would only need some chickenwire to be made safe btw in the countryside would be less of an issue if the road wasn't a busy, fast one. Which is the biggest frustration with this house. It is ideal in pretty much every way bar the noise of the traffic that regularly speeds past at all times day and night. It means that you can't walk from the house anywhere really as it can be quite dangerous which is a shame. It could have just been because we came over bank holiday but from coming from farming stock the kids that were driving at those speeds knew the roads so doubt that it would diminish once tourist season was over. The main roads its set upon means that, with no paths and walking dodging alongside those roads, there's no chance walking into Bowness. I took my life in my hands going for a run and won't be doing that again. So in short if you want a frankly incredible house with a stunning view in a location which is a short 510min drive too Bowness and Ambleside with the ferry then this place is perfect. Oh and go for food to the Brown Horse inn a couple of miles away. Its superb.
A fantastic week in the lakes at a wonderful cottage, beautiful and comfortable. We have had gorgeous weather too which enabled us to enjoy the lush garden and seating, many thanks.
Excellent holiday cottage, everything you need to have a great time in a quieter part of the Lake District, just a shame the garden is not enclosed for our spaniel to run free. We were aware of this when booking
Enjoyed a lovely week in this gorgeous cottage with fantastic views. We managed to get a lovely couple of days in the garden and enjoyed walks from the cottage and trips into Bowness & Windermere for lovely lunches. Hope to be back.
Great cottage with fantastic gardens and views. Perfect location for activities around Windermere. Everything in the cottage was perfect. Peaceful location with plenty of outdoor seating. Would definitely return for another stay.
Another great week here at Greenstyles cottage. had lots of adventures and would recommend the caves at Ingleton. We will be back for our 3rd stay next year.
Nadine
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We only had 1 decent weather day but that didn't spoil anything. Beds super comfortable. Views are gorgeous. Back garden is stunning. Only thing I would say to add, is at least 2 bin bags and a couple more dishwasher tablets, but that's just nit picking. The information provided in the folders was detailed and plenty of leaflets to go through. Only ever really a short drive to other places, too, which made it super ideal. We would definitely stay again.
Absolutely beautiful location ,just had a week of sunshine every day weather beautiful. Cottage is very well equipped and beds are so comfy . Stunning views in a peaceful location there is everything you need at this lovely cottage . I would have given 5 stars but for a couple of things ..on arrival we noticed the upstairs hadn't been hoovered at all,and the carpets were full of crumbs ,bits etc I spent first half hour of my holiday hoovering all the bedrooms on departure after I stripped the bed I noticed a pile of tissues stuffed at the back of the bed on the floor ,these I didn't remove obviously. Sofa in living room and tv could do with updating .Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location just a couple of things let it down,it definitely wouldn't stop me from booking again though .
We have all enjoyed our stay at your beautiful cottage. although it has rained all week there was plenty to do. We enjoyed the wonderful and extensive garden when the sun came out. The cottage has everything you need to feel at home. the views are just stunning and the beds are so comfortable.
It's an amazing place, we loved it! Shame there wasn't a welcome pack, Milk, local bread, cake, eggs, wine etc It adds just a wram welcome. This was the only one that we have booked that didn't have this homely touch. Still was amazing and enjoyed every minute
First and foremost, thankyou ever so much for sharing your property with us. Stunning location, the views are amazing, even if we only managed to get one day of the views due to the weather, it was worth it. The beautiful property and garden and wood burner certainly made up for it. We could not have asked for a better place. Whilst we had the 'rural' feeling, the shops etc where only a few miles away 10mins driving max. We are certainly considering returning in the warmer months. Furnishings are of high quality. Beds and bedding, so comfortable and clean. Everything that we required was catered for, even cooking Christmas dinner! and thankyou so much for decorating the property with Christmas decorations and tree, we were not expecting that as it was not stated in the original description, it was a lovely surprise. We didn't get chance to use the outdoor furniture or BBQ due to the weather but I'm sure that it would be great in the warmer months hence us planning on a return. Night skies are fantastic on clear nights, we may need to bring our telescope next time. And now it's constructive criticism time .... eeek! Basic toiletries shampooconditionershower gel would be expected in high end properties Improved heating in downstairs toilet winter months was very cold even with the heating on A bath would be ideal in the lovely spacious bathroom Holiday let description should advertise SMART TV and good wifi, as this is a positive selling point Full location delivery address would be useful if ordering groceries on line, ie, tesco.com
We've had a lovely, relaxing week staying in your beautiful comfortable, cosy cottage thank you! Loved the decor and special little touches! It was perfect for a 'home away for home' stay we visited Fell Foot beautiful walk by the lake, as wall as Coniston, Bowness on Windermere for shopping and Windermere for some local art, Jeff Sudders really captures the calm ambience so beautifully of the area. Having visited the Lake District many times with my family as a child, it was lovely to return after a 40 year hiatus with my own family lovely memories of a very special place.
The cottage was comfortable and in a good, quiet location but close to all required amenities and a good base for touring the Lake District. The interior is pleasantly decorated, the side conservatory overlooking the garden is lovely and the beds were very comfortable. The garden has plenty of furniture in various locations and overlooks Windermere and we had a clear view of a Lancaster flying up the lake on one day as well as several jets over the week. As other have said, the cleaner was still there at 1630 when we first arrived, not a major issue as the cottage was presented in clean and tidy state. Unfortunately I inadvertently left a fleece at the property but the owners made every effort to return it to me and wouldn't accept any payment for post and packaging, much appreciated.
Excellent and well equipped furnished cotttages with amazing views! Cottage had everything we needed and was in an ideal location for us to explore the lakes. We had a great short stay Will definitly book again!
Thank you for renting us your beautiful cottage. We loved our stay. It felt like home. Nice visits to Bowness and Ambleside but enjoyed our time in the garden the most. We will be back.
What's not to like about Greenstyles! We loved the house, decor, facilities & views. The huge garden was perfect for our dog. The house is located in a really quiet area yet only 10 minutes to Ambleside. The weather wasn't the best so never got to use the great garden furniture but enjoyed relaxing in the conservatory. We will without a doubt book to stay here again. Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful house.
Charming cottage, well equipped and clean. We settled in straight away and found the beds comfortable and always managed a good sleep. The bathroom is of good size, his and her sinks, with a superb walk in shower. Our mini dachshund enjoyed exploring the large matured garden and playing fetch. Also enjoyed views from the garden of the fighter jets flying over lake Windermere. We found the location peaceful and ideal to get down to the lake but also to explore other nearby areas. Ambleside, Rydal, Grasmere, Ullswater, Penrith, Catbells, Keswick, Kendal. For the chilled out day, where weather was against us, we made use of the smart TV and logged into our Netflix or Prime accounts. Dominos in Bowness on Windermere will deliver if you really don't want to venture out. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and holiday. We would definitely recommend Greenstyles.
Great property, a real home from home with a beautiful large garden which the kids and dog enjoyed immensely. Parking was an issue for two medium sized cars and No on street parking available really tight and awkward. Although we had a very nice holiday and would recommend the property we did get off to a bad start. After a long drive and arriving at the property for 4pm the cleaner was still at the property and made us wait 25 minutes with nowhere to park, very frustrating.
We loved our week in Greenstyles. Such a stunning property in a unique setting, off the beaten track with views over Lake Windermere. Ideally located for excursions. Immaculately appointed, very clean, comfortable, wellequipped property. We would not hesitate in coming back. Thank you for an incredible week!
We have stayed here previously over New Year and now this past week. The cottage is in a perfect location and very convenient for access to the centre of Bowness and surrounding areas, with plenty of lovely restaurants and bars. The views from the cottage are a real bonus being able to see the lake from the upstairs windows and garden. The layout of the property is ideal with separate areas to relax, the kitchen kitted out with everything we needed and a lovely dining area. Perfect if you have woofs, with great walks and a huge garden to run around in. Our only slight niggle was the noise from the building work taking place at the property next door, which didnt affect us whilst we were inside the cottage, but would have definitely been a bigger problem for us during warmer weather if we had wanted to spend time sat in the garden. Overall, a lovely place and hope to be back.
Amazing cottage, it felt like home as it was very comfortable and cosy. The views are perfect and fudge loved running in the garden. There are great places to walk and to get food. Thank you!
Shamir
Loved Greenstyles, really clean, cosy and great location. Will be booking again for the summer!
Cottage was very well presented and equipped. It was well furnished and very clean and tidy. The area was very quiet and scenic. Would book again.
Fabulous cottage! All we could have wanted. So cosy too with beautiful views. Wasnt keen on the smell in the utility, as you walk in the front door. Not sure if it had been freshly painted. But smelt funny!
What an amazing cottage! So beautiful and well situated, as well as comfortable and a home from home. Fantastic days out especially Aira Force Falls and Troutbeck Ambleside, and The Brown Horse Pub is a must! Thank you.
We have had a wonderful week and love the cottage with it's amazing garden & views. Enjoyed some walks from the doorstep including one with a stop off at The Brown Horse. Amazing food & service at The Boardwalk Bar & Grill in Bowness. The children enjoyed the walk and dip at Rydal and we found Honister Slate Mine & the Puzzling Place, a great way to pass a rainy day. Sad to be leaving & we hope to be back.
Fantastic property, we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend staying here. The cottage is cosy and has everything youll need. Its in a good location and has a great view and garden. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Christina
This is a lovely cottage set in the heart of the Lake District, lovely garden. Unfortunately for us there is major building works going on next door making sitting outside during the day impossible. Cleanliness could be much improved and it lets this lovely cottage down. also there are no bin bags or other items one might expect to be available in the cottage. Lack of a welcome pack or anything to welcome visitors after a long journey just feels unwelcoming, a small detail but I feel that these things matter. Most rental properties provide a welcome pack so clearly it not only me that feels this is important.
Robert
Perfect house in a lovely location. Cant recommend it highly enough!
Lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location! It was perfect for our stay in the Lakes, with plenty of space for our two adult sons to join us. The only thing extra we could have asked for was fulllength hanging space, as we were in the Lakes for a wedding and had a dress and smart coats with us!
Many, many years spent in The Lakes, always good to add another fab cottage to the list, thank you.
Green styles is absolutely beautiful ,we had an amazing stay the cottage is very comfortable and has all the facilities that you need . the location is perfect to the nearby town and the views from the cottage are stunning. the owners were super helpful with info and returning an item that we left. we would defiantly stay again and would not hesitate to recommend a beautiful stay thank you
Daniel
Greenstyles is a lovely property and we had a nice stay however This is the first time we have ever arrived at a holiday cottage without any welcome tray no welcome note, no milk in the fridge given what we paid, we found that surprising and unwelcoming. There was no wood for the wood burner despite it being included in the price. There were no dishwasher tablets. There was food left behind in the cupboard. There were no food caddy liners. Finally, and most importantly, shortly after arriving, we found out that the owners sometimes stay at the property with their dog. The property is advertised as petfree so this is totally unacceptable without a warning on the website. We would NEVER have booked this property had we known. Perhaps someone from Lakelovers will phone us to discuss this?
Angela
Beautiful well equipped cottage. Perfectly positioned for a relaxing stay, so peaceful and lovely views of the surrounding countryside. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in and would have no hesitation recommending to others. Thank you, hope to return soon. Angela
Thank you for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage. It is perfectly situated for all our favourite walks and very well equipped too. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.
Geoffrey
Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and well equipped in a perfect location. Great views and an ideal location for visiting Bowness, Windermere and The Lakes generally. We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly return.
We enjoyed a lovely week at Greenstyles. The house was tastefully decorated and the kitchen was very well equipped. We would of appreciated more than 1 tea towel for the week but it wasnt the end of the world. The house is perfectly situated to explore all around the lake. The lake is only a short drive or a moderate walk away. The garden is just beautiful as are the views from the house. We were so lucky with the weather and made the most of the amazing outdoor space. The only thing we found irritating which is not anything to do with the property was the parking. You have to pay for parking everywhere you go which can be quite costly.
We had a lovely stay at Greenstyles. Fabulous cottage with great facilities in a fantastic location. Would absolutely stay again!
Alison
Stunning cottage, well appointed, tastefully furnished. We had fabulous weather so could have done with a brolly for the garden. Very much a home from home
