Lovely house. Great parking but not if you have a car bigger than a Corolla. No bits in kitchen ie washing up liquid, tin foil, only 1 toilet roll. Absolute pain having to go into Windermere for key and take it back again, should have a key box. Drain pipe from shower over runs the drain outside so water runs all over path and kitchen drain outside is near seating area and needs a good clean.

Fantastic location and everything is walking distance with great bars and restaurants on your doorstep . And all clean and tidy with comfy beds , but perhaps could do with a refresh . The fridge door shelf still broken not a big deal And should make it clear the size of the parking space as we only just got our Nissan Juke in the drive . Overall a great place and would defiantly stay again . Ian and Sue

Lovely cottage very clean and comfortable Close to everything. Few small issues crack in sink some stains on dinning room carpet but nothing major it may be a idea though to have 2 sets of keys as some of us wanted to do our own things but was difficult to having only 1 set of keys so we had to work around the person with the keys but all in all lovely cottage and we have rebooked for next year would be lovely as I say to have another set of keys

We have just had an amazing stay at Gildabrook Cottage. The cottage was really clean, beautifully presented and very well equipped. The newly decorated lounge was comfy and cosy, the kitchen had everything we needed and the bedrooms were spacious and everyone slept well. The little outdoor seating area was great for watching the world go by. The location is perfect for exploring Bowness on Windermere and beyond.

We have stayed at Gildabrook several times and absolutely love it and will be booking again for next year. However, on this occasion there were a few issues with maintenance to bring to your attention The bottom shelf inside the door of the fridge was broken but had been wedged into place with a bit of tape. Unaware of this, we placed items on the shelf , unfortunately it was unable to take the weight and resulted in a broken bottle and other spilled liquid. We do have photos for reference if needed. The light in the hallway was exceptionally dim tried changing the bulb but to no avail, then realised it was the dimmer switch not working. There was also intermittent flashing from the light suggesting an issue with the electrics. Another slight issue in the master bedroom the plug extension lead was under the middle of the bed meaning we had to slide under the bed to access it no issue for us but may have been for other guests. Maybe if the cleaning staff could ensure easier access to plug sockets the other rooms were fine. Despite these issues we had a lovely stay as always the cottage is cosy, warm, comfortable, well equipped and the location is excellent. We just felt the need to draw your attention to these issues in the light of both the health and safety of future guests.

We were very pleased with the cottage very cosy and clean very handy for all the pubs and restaurants. Kitchen was well equipped but we noticed a tile on the kitchen floor was raised at a corner . the bathroom had a nice walk in shower this was handy for my husband because he has been unsteady . we did notice a small crack in the bathroom sink .we thought to point this out as it could get worse. We had a lovely stay and hope to come back .

The cottage was a lovely size and well equipped however l think it definitely needs some TLC and revamping, first impressions on opening the front door and seeing ripped and marked wallpaper was not good, surely the boiler in the kitchen should be boxed in and the fire extinguisher upstairs needs to be fixed to the wall, all in all the cottage looked very tired, maybe because its had a long season and lots of people passing through. I just think the owners are missing a trick as l said its a lovely sized and well equipped cottage and for the price could be better presented.

Cottage is in an excellent location, situated in the heart of Bowness & the fact that it has a car parking space is a very welcome bonus. Internally the facilities & bedrooms are very good & overall the cottage is very comfortable to live in. Would definitely recommend this property. Only one minor opportunity for improvement would be for the owner to purchaseprovide some large cushions for the sofa & chair in the living room, to provide support & extra comfort. The smallflat cushions already in the room serve little to no purpose at all.

The cottage was in a great location in the centre of the village with easy access to the shops, restaurants and the lake. The property was extremely comfortable and had all of the facilitates we needed. The car parking space was a bonus. We would definitely book again.

Perfect location near to pubs eateries and only minutes from the lake. Everything you could need and very spacious and comfy. Be aware that the parking is great but really only suitable for a small or medium car, our pickup was a tight squeeze but not complaining. Will definitely return we loved it.

It is highly recommended. It is 2 minutes away from the centre and a few minutes from the lake. It was important that we had a parking space because it is very difficult to find one in the area. The kitchen is wellequipped and has very clean utensils.

Really brilliant location, the only negative was having to wait until 4pm to collect the keys on the day when it had been vacant.

Cottage was very clean and had everything you needed. It was extremely peaceful especially as it was so close to amenities.

Unfortunately, won't be staying at Gildabrook again. It's a very stark, minimal property, which lacks all of the usual homefromhome comforts. The positives begin and end with its location. Stayed in lots of lodges and cottages in and around Bowness many of which are wonderful properties which put the visitor at the forefront of everything. Not so with this one, I'm afraid. No instructions for any of the appliances if there were any, they were hidden out of sight somewhere, and only one loo roll and one hand wash on arrival for a family of four. The Lakelovers Welcome Pack with a bin bag and a tea towel in was a poor substitute for something more thoughtful. A tea bag or two or maybe a couple of sachets of coffee to quench guests' thirsts after a long journey would have been better. Many more things amiss, but hopefully the owners will take an objective look at the place within the not too distant future, put themselves in the shoes of visiting families, and make some of those muchneeded improvementschanges. Too many missing or poorlyexecuted things to list. Most glaring paint on the curtains in the back bedroom from a previous touchup, and hole in the landing wall where the bathroom door has been repeatedly knocked against it. Doorstop a few s max., job done! Shame, as the location was superb.

Lovely holiday home, everything you need provided and a short walk to restaurants, pubs and shops. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay there and would stay again.

The cottage is in a great spot. Could get a little noisy at the weekend due to being across the road from churchills pub, but we were there mid week so it didnt affect us. Great sized accommodation smack bang in the middle of Bowness, very well equipped as well. We had a great few days in the cottage. If I was going to mention a couple of down side points all be it small. Access to the back garden would have suited us with having two small dogs. This has only to be used as a fire exit even though there is a door into it. Also checking in could be a little earlier than 4 as I feel this is a bit late. Other than that would defo recommend.

Loved the cottage, really homely and a great central location. Everything we needed was included or available. Checking in process was exactly as stated in emails. There are one or two minor repairs repairs needed around the property but nothing that detracted from the enjoyment of our holiday.

Great cottage and location. The Churchills pub had an act on one night which was quite loud but didnt bother us as we were in the main bedroom. There are only 3 things I would point out for improvement. 1 the oven dial no longer has any pictures and theres no guide provided to know what youre turning on and the heat level. 2 the shower needs regrouting it looks very dirty in places and the floor has gaps in the tiles which is going to cause you issues. 3 the settee needs cleaning as the stains are one of your first impressions. Otherwise great and we would stay again.

It was a lovely place to stay, lots of items provided to make the stay comfy and was in an ideal position for exploring. Car park spot was a big bonus. Only downsides was having a journey to pick up and drop off the key would suggest a box on the outside? And the back space might have been awkward if the next property has been in occupation as they could see straight in the cottage but that being said its an old building so nothing can do about that, would suggest blinds or a thicker curtain? Will certainly return!

There was no mattress for the toddler's cot even though the listing stated we had to bring cot sheets etc and staff were dismissive of our complaintconcern. Some minor suggestions for additional equipment nonstick saucepans, kitchen towel and apron, bathroom toothmug

Everything was amazing we will 100 be booking again for next year. 1 small issue was the 1st travel cot red one was broken when we arrived, but luckily there was another one available so problem solved instantly

Lovely location and everything we needed to enjoy our stay. A key safe would be great to avoid having to collect key from a distance away but really nothing negative about the cottage at all. We would love to return .

Excellent location within a 3 minute walk of lakeshops etc. Overall a nice cottage.Carpets are in need of cleaning replacing in many rooms however rooms were well furnished and had pleasing decor. No wood burning stove as outlined in listing, only an electric fake log fire that didnt seem to output any heat. Kitchen had plenty of equipment for self catering. Dining area very dark and not a space we wanted to spend time in could do with an update to match rest of property. Small enclosed patio with furniture however this is situated on the front of the property so not private or quiet, as the road has vehicles and people regularly passing through. Parking is for a smallmedium vehicle. Our car overhung into the road. Overall a lovely stay in a pleasant cottage , the location was so good we could overlook some of the negative points of the property to return again.

Reading previous feedback i was concerned what the property would be like. However when we saw the property we where pleasantly surprised, The facilities where very good, comfort also good based on this being a holiday home and an excellent location. Only negative was the beds had wooden ends on so if you are tall then you cannot stretch out. But that is only an issue for tall people!

Dated property. Mouldy walls in hall and dining room. Mouldy bathroom ceiling. Dirty, stained carpets. Had a slug that lived in the dining room. Crawling with ants. Had mouldy stained bed sheet. Lots of cobwebs. Heart of the Lakes refused to deep clean the property. Great location.

Furniture wasn't very good quality, wasn't informed another cottages garden was looking over the dining room. Internet very bad

Wish we could stay longer! Gildabrook gave us a great base to settle in. Very comfortable, warm and well equipped! See you soon!
