Ecclerigg Old Farm Reviews

Was a great place to stay, and handy for getting to the hot spots of South lakes e. G. Grizedale, Ambleside, Grasmere, Brockhole, Bowness, Coniston, Hawkshead, Troutbeck. Property had everything you could want for a weeks holiday, was clean, comfortable, and warm. Log burner was nice to have, plenty of space to park the cars too!
Had a lovely holiday and everything was amazing
Jerome
Loved it .going back in November
Another fabulous week in this spacious old farm house. The location is ideal with the added advantage of free access to Brockhole visitor centre. It's not a luxurious property but very comfortable and cosy, ideal for our party of 4 adults with 3 young children. Everything you need is provided and works fine.
Great place. Absolutely ideal for us. Clean & warm. I would definitely book this again
Christine
Our 4th time here and as always we love it perfect size, location etc we will be back again. .. only very very slight niggle we did miss the extra dishwasher in the utility but it certainly didn't spoil things just a point to note thank you for another amazing holiday
Pros nice and convenient location plenty of parking spaces comfortable beds comfee living room nice garden Cons Various items need fixing such as bathroom items and drainage about time to change the nonstick pans as they are unhealthy to cook.
Nicola
Really loved our stay for my 40th birthday with dogs and friends The location is is perfect couldnt believe how lucky we were with that. It is so close to Windermere and Ambleside so amazing walks so close no need to spend ages in a car getting to places. 6 mins from Booths supermarket in Windermere which was very handy The garden was lovely I imagine in the summer that would be such a treat. Great parking, easy to find, plenty of room. Real fire Overall I loved it and would definitely stay again. Its not fancy but for the Lakes and dogs it is just perfect and with modern bathroom and kitchens honestly I cant recommend this place enough
The property was perfect for our holiday needs, 4 adults and 3 children. It was really warm and cosy, very spacious with all amenities and facilities you could wish for. As mentioned in the visitor book the shower does feel like it's going to overflow the cubicle but it doesn't. Bedding was comfortable, plenty of pillows and more than enough towels for us all for the week. In a perfect location to explore the area with the added bonus of a short stroll with free entry to the Brockhole visitor centre.
Regine
Lovely accommodation. Thank you for making this break really easy and comfortable plus the visiting deer made it extra special!
Anthony
The extractor fan in the family bathroom does not work, pink mould on the ceiling and the shower is not draining correctly. The family bathroom shower needs a blitz, black mould in shower.we were disappointed that we were not told that we needed to bring our own toilet paper, and there were no cleaning products to clean bench tops or anything. The house is well equipped otherwise and we enjoyed our stay there.
Steven
We really enjoyed our stay and the cottage matched the description exactly. It is a little difficult to locate on arrival but we found it very comfortable and in an excellent location.
Edward
Wonderful place beautiful location we loved it there also little dog felt at home too
Excellent accommodation, in a good location. The cottage was comfortable, and cosy. There was an issue with the shower which meant baths only, and I couldn't report this on arrival as it was the weekend. However, this didn't lessen the enjoyment of staying at Ecclerig.
We love this cottage and have stayed here many times. It is perfect for us as an extended family. The boot and coat room is very useful! Location is perfect. It is spacious and comfortable, delightfully old fashioned and well equipped.
Adrian
We had an amazing time and would highly recommend this to anyone
Love this place was like coming home. I used to visit this exact property as a child and was great ro have the opportunity to take my children, who also had a wonderful time and want to visit again.
Kirsten
Fantastic location, we enjoyed our stay.
Michelle
Beautiful property. Well equipped and very comfortable. Lots of space so we could relax. Highly recommended.
Malcolm
As a family spanning three generations and with a dog our needs were quite varied. We found the property with all its facilities very much to our liking and the proximity to Brock Hole, the lake and bus services couldn't have been much better. Given how spread around the UK we are, this was the first time we had managed to holiday together. It could not have worked out better.
Charlotte
Firstly as this was a last minute booking for us, the service from Heart of the Lakes was excellent. Having not been happy with our first holiday home and not having a positive start to our holiday, you quickly turned it around for us so thank you. What works well for Ecclerigg Old Farm is it's ideal location close to Ambleside and easy access to other popular places in area. Great walks on the doorstep. It is spacious, clean and tidy. The cloakroom and large fully equipped utility room, an ideal place to store coats, boots and walking gear. The best thing was the modern, clean kitchen well equipped and plenty of storage space. A very pretty enclosed garden safe for a dog. I really loved the window seats. What could do with improvement is the decor it was obviously furnished in the 80s. It is looking a bit tired and needs some redecoration and modernising. The sofa is old and wasn't very comfy. Bearing in mind this is a property for 8, there is only a small sofa and two armchairs. I didn't like the stag horns above the fireplace. . It is disappointing that there is no recycling at the property and if guests want to recycle they are advised to visit local recycling facilities. What would be useful is a child gate across the bottom of the stairs or a portable one that could be used to stop children and dogs going upstairs. We used chairs but I have stayed in properties with one and it makes a difference. We had a lovely week staying in this property and would definitely recommend it to others.
Lovely house in a great location but do agree with a Few other reviewers it definitely needs updating regarding sofa etc. was not the cleanest of places but we enjoyed our stay.
We had a lovely time. The house was fairly simple but had everything we needed, especially the open fireplace and ready supply of logs. Only drawback was that getting out onto the main road sometimes took a while as that road was so busy .. even in November. Id also say that 10am checkout is an hour earlier than Im used to.
Great cottage in a great location. Very spacious which was great for two families. Being next door to Brockhole was a bonus!
The house was reasonably good for what we needed. It was spacious, reasonably comfortable and in a good location. It was marred slightly by the previous people having left an overflowing bin which, after the foxes had ripped apart, the owner himself came and cleared up, a lack of peeler so we had to buy another, missing usb plugs in the kitchen and bedrooms couldn't work the radios otherwise, a mismatched bin and lid in the kitchen so the lid fell off every time you opened it, TV controller which didn't work one TV aerial wire had been ripped out of its socket and I had to reconnect it to get it working, and finally, the induction cooker hob failed three days before the end of our stay. To be fair, your service team managed to replace the hob with a temporary hob fairly quickly although unfortunately only one of the four rings worked properly. We can only assume you managed to replace with a new hob after we left.
Christine
Amazing stay within beautiful surroundings. expectations were exceeded due to us being a large mixed family and the space suited us perfectly. Facilities in the kitchen and utility room were ideal. three bathrooms were a huge bonus. Weather was surprising good however we did take advantage of the open fire in the evening. Bedrooms were clean and comfortable. A lovely holiday had by all we will book again Thank you !
There were positives and negatives about Ecclerigg. The problem with the washing machine was an issue and was not resolved whilst at Ecclerigg, and was handled really poorly. The cleaning of the house was questionable a mask had been left on the floor by the previous renter and not removed. The splash backs in the kitchen were dirty and the fridge hadnt been cleaned properly. Do I think it was cleaned to current Covid standard, no.
No complaints couldnt of wished for better.
