Spacious property, good comfortable beds, nice and tidy home from home in a great location, easy walk into Windermere
Lovely house situated in a quiet location and close to both Windermere and Bowness. Would definitely recommend, we hope to book again in the Summer.
We had a lovely Christmas in Brackenthwaite. We equipped kitchen for cooking our Christmas Dinner. Bedrooms very comfortable and we loved watching the skies at night with it being cloudy free. Would have been nice to have torches we bought some whilst we were there as its very dark when walking home after dark. Would recommend this fabulous house to anyone.

Our stay from start to end was excellent. All rooms are very spacious, clean and finished to a high standard. The house is located in a very quiet area surrounded by trees, making it feel very calming. We will definitely be looking to stay again when visiting the Lakes. Many thanks to the owners.
Lovely comfortable house, in a really convenient location in Windermere. The house itself is beautiful an Arts & Craft style house in a big garden on a quiet cul de sac in between Windermere and Bowness. It's warm, a good size, elegantly furnished and very comfortable. Well equipped although a few more mugs would have come in handy. Only minor drawback is that while you can park on the narrow drive, there's no room to turn round unless you have a tiny Smart car, as one of us did so you need to reverse out. So on arrival, don't go all the way up to the house thinking that you will be able to turn at the top just drive far enough in the gate to be off the road. Also the cul de sac doesn't have street lighting, so if arriving after dark you may need to shine a light on the gateway entrance signs to find Brackenthwaite. Really recommend the cafe at the Jetty Museum for a morning coffee. It's a nice walk down the hill from the house there's a footpath off the main road just after the church through a beautiful bit of a woodland by a stream that comes out just by the museum. The cafe has wonderful views right on the lakeshore you don't have to go to the museum to use the cafe.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the house is ideally situated for all local amenities but in a quiet corner away from all the hustle and bustle. Rooms were very spacious and warm, the kitchen well equipped and the garden ideal for the dog to wander about. We wouldn't hesitate to rebook if visiting the area again.

Had a fabulous short break at Brackenthwaite. The house is stunning and in a great location, peaceful yet near to local amenities. The lovely garden was great for our dog who enjoyed exploring. The garden has some amazing trees and shrubs we both agreed would be nice to see them in bloom. Was nice to watch the nuthatches from the kitchen window and listen to the tawny owl on an evening. The house was warm and comfortable with plenty of storage and space. We did a couple of walks directly from the house down to the lakeside and to Orrest Head which were handy for walking the dog. Try the pies and cakes from the little bakeryshop on the corner of Oak Street. They were delicious. Would also recommend a visit to The Hare and Hounds Inn, Bowland Bridge where we had dinner one evening which was lovely. Would certainly recommend Brackenthwaite and would love to return.

We had a lovely short break here. The property is lovely, very comfortable and well equipped. Our dog loved exploring the garden! Just one small observation, the drive is quite tight and once youve driven in theres no way to turn around so reversing skills definitely necessary! Also the sink in the bathroom was very slow to drain so may need unblocking. Overall though, a lovely property highly recommended.

The house is set back from the road and very private, a short walk into windermere town and about 15mins to the lake. There was a well stocked kitchen to cook in. The beds were very comfortable to sleep in. We had our dog with us and he happily enjoyed exploring the garden. We did have another dog come into the garden, which our dog loved. I think its a wonderful place to relax and explore the surroundings areas.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The quiet and private location suited us well while being close to Windermere and Bowness for shopping. Our grandchildren enjoyed exploring and playing in the garden. The bedrooms are comfortable with quality towels and linen. Lovely shower but the bathroom door needs a new lock as it was broken when we arrived. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances. Would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for making the house so comfortable.
Beautiful house Great location, just a few minutes walk into Windermere Only thing we would suggest is

A lovely property which is quiet and private but close to both Windermere and Bowness. Inside the property is decorated beautifully with lovely comfy beds and a nice hot shower! The house had a lovely feel to it and we had a lovely break here.

This was a last minute booking and with no reviews we werent sure what to expect. However, what a gem we found. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brackenthwaite. The rooms are large, cosy and comfortable with everything you need. The staircase is fabulous, like something from a National Trust property. Theres a book for everyone in the library and the garden was in full bloom and spectacular. We even had a visiting deer at the end of the drive. Would we book againabsolutely!
We highly recommend staying at Brackenthwaite. The house is in a great location on a quiet and private road just a few minutes walk from the centre of Windermere and around 1520mins walk from Bowness. The house was spacious, clean, and well equipped with everything that we needed. We would book again.
From the view as we reached the property gate to the moment we stepped inside we knew we'd made a good choice. mind you we did have a mild panic as the door keys were muddled up and we initially couldn't get in. The rooms were spacious and cosy, the choice of books in the dining room was amazing. The rhododendrons I must mention those were just beautiful. We will book again if available.
