Is Beckmead Right For You?

Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
The house has a cot and highchair available for young children. The enclosed back yard provides a safe outdoor space. Windermere offers family attractions including the World of Beatrix Potter (1 mile) and lake cruises. The snug has a 65-inch TV for entertainment. Beaches and adventure playgrounds are within easy reach around the lake.
For Couples
This property is better suited to families than couples due to its size. The house sleeps six across three floors with multiple reception rooms. While the location is excellent for exploring Windermere together, the scale of the accommodation and three bedrooms make it less intimate for a romantic break. Couples would benefit more from a smaller property.
Pet Friendly
Beckmead welcomes one well-behaved dog at no extra cost. The enclosed back yard gives your dog a secure outdoor space. Lake Windermere shoreline walks start 15 minutes away on foot. Many local pubs and cafes are dog-friendly. The property has hard floors downstairs making cleaning easier. You cannot bring more than one dog.

The house is very spacious and beautifully decorated for a family holiday, the rooms and beds were so comfortable. All the and facilities were spotless. The kitchen is well equipped to create a meal .It was lovely to sit out the back and listen to the stream. If we were returning to the area in the future we would try to book the house.

We had a lovely time here. Perfect place to stay very comfortable good neighbours lovely little garden area to chill and enjoy the weather. Will definitely stay here again. Very close to town for Windermere and walking into Bowness also close to the green so our kids could kick a ball and run around with our dog. Hosts welcomed us to their property and a lovely gift basket on arrival was very welcomed.

Beckmead is such a lovely cottage in a quiet street with plenty of parking. The cottage itself is sensitively decorated to keep its period features but with all the mod cons you would need and it was very clean and tidy. We really loved the family room and spent most of our time in there. I can imagine in the winter it would be very cosy! Jen and Ed were the perfect hosts, providing a little basket of essentials and treats for our stay. The town itself has plenty of shops and restaurants but if you wanted more variety I would recommend going a mile down the road to BownessonWindermere as it is a bit bigger. You can also get a boat to different towns like Ambleside from there. The cottage is located on a very convenient bus route which means you can leave the car behind. We took the bus to Grasmere and got to see all the sights from the bus on the way. We are already planning out return!

Had a great stay at the Beckmead last weekend. Property was ideally located with easy parking right outside. Property was immaculate with nice touches like a welcome basket and a welcome message the from the owners! Even sent a message to say we could stay in the property until 12 on checkout date which was lovely of them! Overall a great experience and would highly recommend.
Laurie
Nice house done out well, good compact kitchen with coffee machine and double oven, nice dining room with big table, welcome pack was good with prosecco and snacks. Garden space was good with big table. Great location in Windermere. Only seating for four in each lounge made it difficult for us to all be together and the seats had a long base with very soft additional cushions for lumbar support, a couple of us twinged our backs. Would be good if the first floor cummunial bathroom was open. First floor room and ensuite nice and big and clean, top floor ensuites quite small and low shower if you're tall and had mouldy shower heads. All in all a good stay.
We had a wonderful time at Beakmead! Such a cosy, beautiful house. Everything was perfect. The location was brilliant to be able to see lots of the Lake District. We will definitely be back here. Thank you for the lovely welcome basket too.

Fantastic cottage, spacious and homely. Had everything we needed and a lovely welcome basket was a really nice touch on arrival. Even left a couple of washing capsules for the washing machine which was helpful for my sons dirty walking clothes. Within walking distance to all the shops and amenities. Close proximity to drive or use public transport to Bowness, Grasmere, Hawkshead and Ambleside. We had to contact the owners as knocked a picture off the wall and wanted to know how to replace it. They got straight back to us and were really understanding. Would definitely return, had a wonderful stay.
This is our second trip to Beckmead and it wont be our last. Location is perfect, everything is within walking distance The house is spacious, beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need. Great communication from the owners too. We love it
Veronica

Richard
A beautiful family house in a great location. The owners were friendly, welcoming and very helpful.
Samantha
Beautifully presented, clean and homely accommodation with everything needed for stay. Plenty of room for our 3 teens and dog to have space to themselves. Great location for touring the Lakes and within easy walking distance of Lake Windermere. Always easy to find on street parking outside the property even for two cars. Friendly and helpful owners. Definitely recommend.
Elaine
What a gem. Great accommodation and very well equipped. Lovely touch with welcome pack too. And as the weather was so brilliant we managed to eat at the very large table outside. Although the garden is secure for dogs there was one part where he managed to jump off the wall into next door. But we easily managed to barricade it to stop it happening again. Owners brilliant too as kept in touch by text and we were able to access the property earlier than expected. All in all a great weekend and would definitely stay again.
Our group of four adults and a dog stayed for three nights. It was perfect for us, great house, spacious, clean, warm and well equipped, we loved everything about it. Lovely welcome pack on arrival which we thought was a nice touch Great location to walk into Windermere or Bowness We had the best time and hope to book again towards the end of the year.
Really nice house in a great location. The house itself is really nice inside, the two reception rooms were great, especially with kids. Really nice lounge, dining room and kitchen. Showers were good. The only negative was the double bed in the Jacob room was a small double and I didnt find it very comfortable. Also the lock mechanism on the front door was a bit dodgy and came loose but I did manage to screw it back on. Would definitely recommend this house.
Louise
Great property with a great central locations. The owners of the property were very helpful & informative. Have recommended to family & friends. 5 Star from start to finish!
Danielle
We had a great stay. The house is beautiful and well equipped.
We had a lovely time at Beckmead. The property is in a great location being just a few minutes walk into Windermere town and only around 20 minutes from Bowness and there are some lovely walks on the doorstep. It was really well equipped, clean and spacious and the enclosed garden was great for the dogs. The welcome basket was also a lovely addition.
Alyson
Lovely welcoming house that was a little oasis for us. Plenty of downstairs space with nice little touches to make the place luxurious but homely. Parking never an issue, 5 mins walk to the centre of town it is the perfect rental and we would certainly stay again.
Great property. Very comfortable and warm. We both loved it and would book again in the future. Only slight downslide for the times when it was raining, The broadband speed could do with being a bit higher as streaming services and freesat tended to buffer.
We had a fantastic time at Beckmead. It's a beautiful property, well maintained and equipped. We were lucky enough to have great weather, and found this to be a perfect base. We were a little concerned before we went about on street parking, but even though we stayed over Bank Holiday we were able to park directly opposite the house every day. Beds and sofas all comfortable, and good bathrooms read the instructions in the visitors book about the upstairs showers as you have to press a button to get them hot!. We would certainly recommend this cottage and would happily stay there again.
We had a wonderful week at Beckmead despite the soggy weather The house was lovely, and immaculate on arrival. Really warm and cosy which was very welcome on a cold wet winters night. It was far more spacious than it looks in photos, and was a great plus having our own ensuites, as there was 6 of us in total. The kitchen was one of the best equipped we've been to...and the welcome basket was very high quality and generous too!! Only a 15 minute walk to the lake in either direction, some local people told us of some good dog walks, which we will definitely try next time. We never met the hosts, but they were brilliant at answering any queries we had....thanks again Ed and Jen for sharing your lovely home with us. We will return, Ruth and family xx
Absolutely fantastic property situated just a stones throw from the village. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay Comes highly recommended.
