We had a most relaxing and comfortable stay at Birkheadthis holiday home is beautiful, incredibly cosy, and spacious. Everything was perfectly clean, warm, and welcoming and we all appreciated the comfortable beds. It was the perfect base for us with our three children aged 12 14. We also especially appreciated the thoughtful welcome of wine and biscuits. We spent a lot of time enjoying the views, which the huge windows in the kitchen and lounge frame so well. I particularly loved sitting on the high stool with a cup of tea, just taking it all in. It was also special to watch the new lambs being born in the fields nearby. Having so much within walking distance to explore was wonderful. We loved the old lane to Jesus Church, where we admired the PreRaphaelite window, and spent an interesting couple of hours one morning at Townend, the local National Trust property. We also popped into The Old Post Office for milk and ice cream. We loved the different vibes of the two local pubscalling in for drinks in the late afternoon on our way back from walks. The Mortal Man felt wonderfully rustic, while The Queens Head had a lovely classic country pub feel. Troutbeck is such a charming, tranquil, and idyllic village when we did venture into Ambleside, it felt incredibly busy by comparison! We were lucky enough to have some good weather and enjoyed several local walks right from the property, including trips up Wansfell Pike and Sour Howes, which offered a gorgeous and rewarding view of Lake Windermere from the top. We also enjoyed walking down Wain Lane to Brockhole and the edge of the lake. Even when we got caught out by the rain, the kids still enjoyed the walk back along the picturesque Troutbeck valley.

This is one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. It lived up to the photographs not all places do It was spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. The surrounding countryside is very beautiful. We would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it to friends and family.

This was our second visit to No 2 Birkhead in as many months. Firstly, the apartment is incredibly spacious and comfortable. The photos do not do it justice really, and although we were staying there as a couple, it would be a great property to share with someone. The absolute highlight though, is the location. There are stunning views from virtually every window. Its a 510 minute walk from a lovely tearoom small shop and a great pub, and about a 10 minute drive from both Windermere and Ambleside. We will definitely be back again, I cant wait for our next trip!
Wonderful and spacious accommodation with a spectacular pastoral view. We were travelling as six adults and enjoyed our stay here immensely. Would not hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a place on the southern Lake District that is close to, but not in, the more commercial centres.
Property was ideally situated in a lovely village. The apartment was fantastic very clean and had everything that you needed. Rooms were spacious and the views were amazing. Would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again.

Property was lovely. Very clean, very well equipped and beautiful views from the lounge and kitchen windows. My only criticism would be too many cushions in the bedrooms not needed Would definitely return when we need a large apartment for the family. Thank you
