Honestly could not recommend the wonky burrow more highly! Such a lovely, cosy place to stay in the heart of Windermere! Me and my boyfriend did not want to leave!! Not only was the accommodation just amazing, so were Vickie and Darren! They were so accommodating, welcoming and helpful with any queries we had before and whilst we were there! We will definitely be back next year!!

Wow! What an incredible stay at The Wonky Burrow! This was our first visit to the Lake District, and at first, we were a little overwhelmed trying to decide where to stay. After lots of research, we chose The Wonky Burrow, and what a perfect choice it was! From the moment we arrived, everything was just amazing. The accommodation and communication were second to none. Everything we needed was provided, and Vickie was only ever a message away if we needed anything. The location couldnt have been better. We spent our days exploring BownessonWindermere and also ventured to nearby Ambleside, Grasmere, Coniston, and Windermere. Theres so much to do in the area, from taking a water cruise across to Ambleside to walking up to Brant Fell, where you get breathtaking panoramic views over Lake Windermere, just a short stroll away! We definitely would recommend the hot chocolate bar called ChoccoBar in the town centre for the most delicious hot chocolate! It was also the perfect space for bringing our dog along, cosy, welcoming, and ideally located with plenty of beautiful walks right on the doorstep. It made our trip even more special knowing our boy could enjoy the adventure with us too.
We had a really lovely stay at the Wonky Burrow! The little touches on arrival were really thoughtful, especially for our toddler toys and snacks! Extremely comfy bed which is always much appreciated! Such a convenient location too. Loved the decor throughout and it felt so cosy. Will definitely stay again! Thank you xx
Lovely accommodation in a superb location. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the welcome pack was very much appreciated. Everything you need is provided and a couple of outdoor chairs to enjoy the evening sun would have made it perfect. Would definitely recommend a stay at the wonky burrow.
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Wonky Burrow. It is a lovely place to stay and just a short walk down the hill to the pubs and lake. We were welcomed with some drinks and there was tea, coffee, washing up liquid etc available. The place is quite small but more than adequate for a couple and a dog. The floor is stone which kept the apartment cool when it was warm outside. There is a small step to get into the kitchen and bedroom. The only slight negative was the sound of footsteps in the house above in the morning but that would not stop us staying at the Wonky Burrow in the future.

Perfect Cottage Retreat Just as Promised My girlfriend and I with our two dogs and couldnt have asked for a better experience. The cottage was exactly as describedcozy, clean, and full of charm. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and truly comfortable. The location in the Lake District was stunningideal for peaceful walks, great views, and exploring the surrounding area. It was clear that the owners put a lot of care into making the cottage welcoming and petfriendly, which made a big difference for us. Honestly, theres nothing I would change. It was a perfect escape, and well absolutely be coming back. Highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing break in the lakes.

A character property, restored beautifully. We spent 4 nights and were very comfortable. The owners were very responsive and helpful. Great location for a visit to Bowness. Parking on nearby streets was not a problem.
We had a lovely time, the wonky burrow is a credit to the owners. Love the back story.. location is great. I would recommend a couple of hooks in Bathroom to put towels on once used. Heating comes on during the night, not sure this is needed this time of year..
Michael
Lovely little cozy apartment in a fantastic location. It is within easy walking distance to the water front, shops, pubs and restaurants so no need to use your car if you don't want to. Enclosed courtyard which was ideal for our dog and plenty of parking close by in the streets surrounding the property.
We very comfortable in the cottage. The bed was great and the enclosed yard for our dog was very convenient. There is easy access to the lake restaurants, various shops and grocery stores for all of your needs. Affordable bus and boat tours are close at hand and the hosts are willing helpful to meet all of your individual needs.
Kathryn

A Perfect Retreat at Wonky Burrow We had an amazing stay at Wonky Burrow in Bowness! The cottage is beautifully designed, blending charm and comfort with thoughtful details that made our visit extra special. The location is perfectjust a short walk from the lake and the lovely shops and restaurants in Bowness, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and secluded. The interior is cozy and stylish, with everything you need for a relaxing break. The attention to detail, from the highquality furnishings to the little extras, really made it feel like a home away from home. Overall, Wonky Burrow is a fantastic place to stay, and we cant wait to return. Highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway in the Lakes!
Dominic
A lovely, cosy, comfortable and brilliantly positioned apartment. We loved the way the Wonky Burrow is designed and really enjoyed staying there. Easy to book, everything was clearly explained and just the relaxing breakaway we sought.
Rochelle
Lovely weekend stay with our two dogs. Very quirky cottage, everything you need and very close to Windermere and Bowness. Will definitely be back
We recently stayed here with our two dogs and baby and what a fantastic stay we had. Vickie was an exceptional host who was helpful and friendly from the moment we booked. Due to circumstances out of our control we had to rearrange and Vickie and her family were more than understanding and accommodated our request without hesitation. Communication was fantastic throughout and they made our stay by being so helpful and welcoming. The accommodation location is fantastic and walking distant to both, Bowness on Windermere and Windermere town centres. The accommodation was exceptionally presented, clean and accommodating to our needs as were the hosts. We will continue to visit the Wonky Burrow on every future visit we have to the Lakes!
George
Clean, tidy and modern accommodation in great location.

Amazing little cottage definitely book again.

Our stay at the wonky barrow was excellent close to shops restaurant the property was a very clean. The owners above was no problem at all. They were very helpful and we needed a bit of help. These things are stay was fantastic. We look forward to staying there in the future.
Lovely welcome from the owner, nice touches of a card and welcome drink. The only recommendation would make is a boot tray by inside of the door. We're avid walkers so I think it would be a handy addition. Lovely Christmas decorations
The Wonky Burrow is a little gem! Very comfortable warm and cosy especially if going in the winter. Its in a fantastic location a short walk to the hustle and bustle of Bowness and just under a mile to Windermere. Vicki was very helpful and friendly. Nothing was a problem. I would definitely recommend this place to stay.
Vickie was absolutely lovely. Couldn't ask for a better place to stop, a few minutes walk from the shops and restaurants and so nice and cosy!
The Wonky Burrow was a great place to stay, very cosy and comfortable. Really good location with everything within easy walking distance of the property. We would definitely come back.
Alison
We had a lovely stay the cottage was comfortable and in an excellent location. The owners kept in contact to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. Parking was a bit hit and miss but generally found a space within a few minutes walk. The downside for us maybe I should have read the information more carefully was we couldnt leave our Two dogs alone. We would only have left them for a short period to enjoy the shops or grab lunch but were unable to enjoy those facilities as shopping and eating with pets its not that relaxing.
Fantastic stay, cottage is beautifully decorated. It had everything you needed. Very comfortable, loved the bed. Will recommend to many. Highly recommend using the 3words to find the location.
A lovely stay in the Lake District at the wonky burrow. We were made to feel very welcome. Really well situated for walking access into BownessonWindermere and lots of exciting places to visit within a short drive.
We absolutely loved our first stay away as a family at the Wonky Burrow. This is an ideal location and the property has everything you need. Comfy bed, equipt kitchen and really characterful property that nods to the slate in the area. Very welcoming hosts who were keen to help as much as they could.
We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Wonky Burrow, it was perfect for myself and my husband and our two small dogs. Vickie and Darren were so welcoming to us from the regular messages to check we were ok to the lovely welcome gifts for us all
tin George
The cottage was lovely and the owners responded very quickly to the problems with the heating. However, we could only recommend the cottage during the months of June. July and August as it needs its own heating controls. The additional electric heater does not get around the problem of the central heating controls being with the owners. This should have been made clear in the description. The bathroom needs an additional toiletries shelf and the stepping stone path needs sorting. The flagstone floor is beautiful but is very cold.
We had a lovely holiday here! It was our first one with our baby, so we were relieved at how cosy the place was. There is a comfy sofa to relax on in the evening and we enjoyed a couple of nights in! Perfect location as central to all the restaurants and bars. Vickie was on hand for anything we needed and was really nice and helpful. We would definitely go back to this place and glad we found it. Would recommend taking some slippers as the floor is stone so can get cold on your feet!
Nicola
The wonky burrow is just gorgeous! So cute! Perfect for us and our little for legged friend and so convenient for Bowness and all the local amenities! The owners are so lovely, when we mentioned that it was our dogs birthday, they left a little card to congratulate him on him big day a lovely way to escape to the lakes! N&H&P
Amazing place! We absolutely loved our stay at the Wonky Burrow. Located in the middle of Windermere, a short walk from the shops, restaurants and lake on a quiet residential lane, the accommodation is welcoming, modern, with everything you need. Directions to the property were simple to follow, parking near the property was easy, and the small touches of a lovely bottle of UK wine, and dog treats and tennis balls for our cockerpoos was a lovely find upon arriving! Although we didn't actually meet the owners in person, Vickie was easily contactable and very helpful with any of our requests. If we visit Windermere again, we wouldn't stay anywhere else!
Venita
A truly lovely ground floor flat with loads of character , comfortable bed lovely pillows and great kitchen with all you need to cook all types of food . Smooth access to flat on arrival , even a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us left by the hosts.Cant wait to go back .
Wonderful stay at this lovely accommodation. Everything done to a very high standard and extremely well equipped. The bed was incredibly comfortable as was the sofa so able to relax during the evening Location superb and really is only a few short minutes from town and amenities. Family were lovely and it was great to be able to interact with them. Sweet little garden lit up with fairy lights at is a great touch. Thank you for the welcome gift. We loved being with you and 100 recommend Russ and Jackie
One star for a comfortable bed. En suite was good but no shelves for toiletries. Compliments end there. We found the place was not as clean as we would have expected. Various issues. We raised this with the owner who was in Italy. She went straight into a defensive mode saying to us that she knows our type. We decided to contact Sykes to register the issues. Nothing happened over the weekend so we phoned Sykes for an update. At 6pm on the Monday Sykes phoned and told us to leave the premises immediately, quoting abusive and threatening behaviour to the owner even though we had never laid eyes on them. Sykes then realised this was a false allegation and phoned us to say we could stay. We said that this was unacceptable and would leave in the morning. As we left I took a video of the premises as to how we left it. Then as expected we were accused of wilful damage. Another allegation that was dropped by the owner. Our holiday was cut short and ruined all because we complained about some cleanliness issues.
Rachel
Generally happy with the property! Nice welcome bottle of wine and note left upon arrival and onstreet parking is quite easy to find. Location is also excellent for restaurants, bars and the lake. We were missing a few things in the kitchen when we arrived, but the owners were very responsive and got them to us ASAP, which was great! We would have liked to be able to sit out in the garden, but there was no garden furniture, despite it being advertised. Overall, the amount of noise heard from upstairs is not a lot but it is quite loud first thing in the mornings. Thank you for a nice first stay in the Lakes
Jessica
Excellent property, felt like being at home. Very clean and tidy. Brilliant location. Hosts were lovely in contact before to check if we needed a travel cot for our son. Also left us a lovely welcome gift to celebrate our honeymoon. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return.
I will give the good feedback first. The property is very clean, renovated very well and the host was very welcoming even letting us in early. It is also very close to the lake, less then a 10 minute walk. The disappointing points is altho it stated there was a garden this is shared with the host family and is not fenced off, so wasn't able to leave the door open for air due to having my dog with me. There are no windows in the property so your only option is to leave the door open, which if you have your dog with you is not possible. The other disappointing thing is you are woken very early hours to banging from upstairs, so not the romantic hiking trip we had planned. The hot water runs out very quickly, resulting in an old fashioned strip wash out of the sink. It was also very cold. The guide left in the flat stated you can adjust the temperature by turning the radiators, but no heating came on. Luckily there are extra blankets in the property. I would definitely go back to the lakes but unfortunately would book a different property next time.
Only suggestion is a fence outside patio doors so visitors can sit outside without feeling they are in the owners back yard garden.
We had a lovely stay and the family was very friendly. The place it self is very nice and big enough for 2 plus our pet dog but if your dog needs to be out side it is not an enclosed space. You do need to make sure your dog is on a lead at all times when you are sitting out in the yard as there are other dogs in this residential area. The shower could be better as the pressure wasnt great so if you have long hair you will need to spend longer in there LOL The family that owns this does live above and there was noise but on our last day they did say that some noise preventing flooring was going down so this issue may have been resolved. Overall we had a lovely time and if these issues are addressed we would be more than happy to stay again in the future. I would like thank the owners for the welcome treats for our dog and the bottle of wine for us it was a very nice gift and very thoughtful. Thank you
