The Haven Reviews

Natasha
Stayed for a long weekend with a group of friends all impressed with the property, very spacious, well presented and clean. No problem with parking, we found a spot on the street outside the house. Super close to numerous barsrestaurants and shops in Windermere, so a perfect location. Negatives being picky but the hot tub was only big enough for 4 & there were 6 of us, so that was a shame. You could hear quite clearly the conversations of the people in the property next door didnt bother us as we were also there to celebrate, but definitely something to bear in mind if youre after a quiet break. No other issues, we were delighted with our choice
The house was lovely, well kitted out in the kitchen. Whole place was clean, hot tub clean and fully working. We had no problem getting parking on the street and we had 3 cars. Was close to shops and only a half hour walk to the lake shore. Only complaint, more pillows needed!

Just shy of being perfect, but an enjoyable getaway. The location itself is perfect and the property is very much as advertised. However, there were a couple of points that could be easily rectified, which I hope are taken on board. Firstly, there were some basic things missing that would have been greatly appreciated. I.e. a spare toilet roll, as there were only 4 left for 8 people over 5 days, washing up liquid, a dishwasher tablet even just 1 or 2, sponge and saltpepper cellars completely empty. Small touches like this, when the property isn't cheep, would really go a long way and are things that other properties regularly provide. It's an insignificant cost for things like this, but they are missed. Secondly, you can hear the adjoining quite a lot. Some rooms do not block the noise well at all. That being said, our 'neighbours' were respectful, had a young child, and we're only there 2 out of our 5 days. This didn't ruin our trip at all and I wouldn't put people off based on this, although it was sometimes noticeable. Overall, the property is fantastic and the location couldn't be better. I feel the first point should be looked at, as it's an easy fix and avoids a slightly sour taste for those that stay. Everyone I dealt with regarding the property was also pleasant.
Great holiday beautiful and clean place , everything we needed was there
The only issue was the noise level from next door. There was a large group staying and although they weren't being excessively rowdy, the noise travelled a lot between the properties. The most obvious places where noise travelled were the basement and the 1st floor main bedroom. It seems that a bathroom must back onto the bedroom and it was quite disturbing getting to sleep. When we were watching TV in the basement, we had to raise the volume because of the noise. If asked I would advise other visitors of this potential disruption.

Had a lovely stay the only downside was there wasnt a Christmas tree and we ... Had a lovely stay the only downside was there wasnt a Christmas tree and we had little children with us The location was great right next to restaurants and bars Would recommend it to my family and friends
There were leaks in both living room and top floor bedroom so both rooms couldnt be used. Heating broke several times in our 3 day stay had engineer out once on morning was broke again by night and couldnt get anyone to come back. Hot water also went off. House was lovely decorated nice hot tub was small for the size of the house but due to the issues we faced and the fact we still havent had it rectified by the home owner or Sykes I wouldnt stay again

The Haven is a beautiful 4storey property perfectly situated in central Windermere. Our party consisted of 5 adults and 4 children, we were delighted with the amount of space and facilities available to us during our stay, specifically the multiple bathrooms and brilliant entertainment space in the cellar, where we could watch films, play pool and relax of an evening. The property and its neighbour next door used to be one guest house. My only feedback is that due to the properties being not separate and renovated you can, at times not significantly hear noise from the adjoining house. This didnt impact us at all during our stay however. Id highly recommend, the house was immaculate on arrival, looking exactly how it did on the photos online and is really tastefully decorated to a very high standard.

Heating was not working Not enough utensils for 10 people

Kitchen equipment was poor, very basic, items incomplete, saucepan handles loose, no non stick pan, I had to buy one. An unbelievable amount of glasses but no cupboard or drawer space for food. Fridge and freezer were not the temperature they should have been even on the highest setting. The jacuzzi had to be vacated because it made the occupants have breathing issues and had a terrible smell, this had to be sorted. I contacted you on the Saturday, you said the owner would be out to fix it out no one came until Monday. Parking outside the property was fraught as COTTAGES.COM used the street as their own business carpark, parking not only company vehicles but privately owned vehicles every day. They left a company car permanently parked outside our property. The heating was supposed to come on at set times but it went off at 10am and we had to boost regularly to get it to come on later in the day. The jacuzzi maintenance arrived at the property on the morning we were leaving at approx 8.45am, filling the yard access to the gate with multiple obstructing pipes and hoses which meant we had to clamber over these to remove the rubbish bins from the property. The TV in the living room kept freezing and the Remote control was extremely ineffective. The bottom bed sheets on each bed were not the extra deep kind required so the corners just kept rolling off and had to be remade every day, the mattresses were very heavy and made the task even more cumbersome. There were no logs supplied despite it saying so in the listing. Pool playing was difficult in the space provided and the rooms did not contain enough seating for the whole party to sit together. Lovely house, clean, WiFi great, tv in games room awesome, location great except for parking issues, but poorly equipped kitchen and details listed above mean that for me it's not worth the premium price paid.

We had a lovely family holiday. Everything we needed in the kitchen to make our meals the games room was amazing we didnt see the children they were there playing either snooker or games. The only issue we had was the rain pouring down over the front door due to a bad leek .There was also a leek in the top bedroom when it rained.
What a wonderful place to stay highly recommend The Haven great location, lovely decorated the photos dont do it justice. Will definitely book again.
The front top bedroom was quite cold. Water cascaded from the front gutter over the entrance doorway in the rain. This was also noisy when trying to sleep. There was no starter pack provided for the wood burner. We struggled a little with the heating timer and it seemed to come on at odd times. Everything else was really good, very well equipped kitchen plenty of towels and lots of space. we really enjoyed the hot tub and pool table.
Liked the property and great location but for the price there were too many things wrong. The hot tub was tiny and cold on arrival and couldnt be used until the following day. No welcome information about how to use things, what we needed to do when we left etc. some of the bedding and towels were dirty on arrival, I called to asked for replacements and they happily Said they would send clean ones but they didnt turn up for two days. We had a leak through the ceiling in one of the main bedrooms with water rolling down the walls. The hot tub is tiny for the size of the apartment and the garden furniture although we didnt use it was broken. Finally the walls are literally paper thin. Not sure if this used to be one house with next door but I could hear every word being spoken by the people in the adjoining apartments! Was also advised we would get some compensation for our issues but nothing yet
Beautiful house luxury surroundings made our family reunion superb! Thank you
Jessie
We had a great stay! Really comfortable and clean, mostly had everything we needed but just a few things that would've helped. A full length mirror, the front bedroom doesn't have a mirror at all. A caffetier and a tea pot would be super helpful. Loved that everyone had a hairdryer, all the communication was helpful and the booklet with local walks was very handy. Thank you.
Sohail
We booked The Haven for a week stay in Lake District . The House was perfect for our group with homely feelings. We loved every moment there from enjoyment at meals on kitchen table to relaxing evenings in TV room and hot tab after day outings. Definitely will book via Sykes in future.
A beautiful property exactly as advertised. It made a great base for our group of girls for a reunionwedding party. All of us would return to The Haven for a longer stay in the future.
Dennis
Really nice house all the party enjoyed stay would definitely go back
Charlotte
Fabulous house, lots of space and finished to a high quality. Little things which would make a big difference would be some sharper kitchen knives and more serving dishes. We would definitely recommend this property.
Robert
Beautiful property with quality fixtures & fittings. Warm & cosy house with very comfortable beds with TVs in every bedroom. Plenty of fluffy towels, toiletries and hot water. Lots of hanging space in wardrobes and for coats and boots in hallway & kitchen. Gamescinema room was a lovely feature especially for the children and had additional storage and an extra toilet. The hot tub proved to be very popular. The Haven is in an excellent location for shops & restaurants. Parking is always at a premium in Windermere but we generally managed to park near to the house. As we were the first guests in the property there were some teething problems but these were quickly resolved by the owner. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
