Rose Cottage At Troutbeck Reviews

Herbert
We stayed at Rose Cottages from June 13 to 20th 2025. We had a grand time at Rose Cottage and enjoyed every moment of our stay. So good that we were, for once, quite sad to have to return to our own house. We stayed at a house in Cornwall about a month before and that was quite a disappointment, so our visit to Rose Cottage has restored our faith in good quality holiday lets. The house is handsome, welI situated, extremely comfortable, and, in the best sense, very homely. Honestly, I cannot recall much that is wrong with it at all. The main bedroom is well appointed and there is a lot of good quality seating through out. Troutbeck is a very interesting little village and we are pleased to have visited it, and it is in easy reach of most of the the main sites in the region. Our experience of the cottage and, indeed, the Troutbeck area was all terrific. To repeat, we had a fine time there and we suspect you will too. We hope so. bert moorhouse Glasgow Rose Cottage June13th20th 2025

We enjoyed a wonderful week in Troutbeck from the comfort of Rose Cottage. The central Lakeland location was perfect for us and provided a great base from which to explore from walking from the door to driving further afield. With two pubs and a shop in the village we didn't need to venture too far for post walk sustenance! A beautifully decorated and peaceful home, the living spaces are perfectly suited for relaxing after a long day in the Fells, with far reaching pastoral views. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished. With super comfy beds, the quiet location and dark skies provided restful sleep. The boot and utility room ensured helpful storage and drying space for all our kit and clobber. Thank you for sharing Rose Cottage with us. It truly felt like home and made our holiday a special one.

We had a great stay at Rose Cottage a big, warm comfortable house with plenty of room for a family of six. The facilities are excellent and views are outstanding. Highly recommended.

Our second stay at Rose Cottage. Slightly disappointed as there wasnt the same high level of welcome pack, just your big standard Travelodge style box of essentials which given the quality and cost of the cottage didn't really resonate with us. Also no fire lighters provided, just an empty box, so on a cold first night we expected more. No instruction on how to turn the heating on in the house manual therefore we had to call LL for info. Also the dishwasher doesnt clean pots that well and the shower upstairs seem to have a mind of its own, and dripped randomly during the night. That said we love the property and location hence our return, just disappointed with the small things that make the stay memorable. Maybe we will look elsewhere later in the year.
We have given feedback directly to the owners. They were very helpful to us, having made direct contact to check our welfare, as they were aware that Troutbeck exerienced a power cut just before Christmas.

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful village, great running routes all around
Thankyou for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage. It was perfect for our needs. The grandparents had downstairs with their own bedroom, bathroom and sitting room and my husband and I and our adult children had the upstairs bedrooms. The main lounge and kitchen diner were perfect for all of us. There was plenty of kitchen equipment and it was fantastic to have three bathrooms. The garden is lovely but unfortunately the weather was very wet for us so we didnt get to enjoy the lovely outdoor seating and bbq. The Aga top made cooking for 6 difficult at times because you could only use two pans at a time and with my daughter being vegetarian and the rest of us eating meat meant cooking dinner took some planning, However the Aga itself was easy to use and having the electric ovengrill and microwave as well gave options. There was a strong smell of oil in the cupboard to the left of the Aga and if the kitchen door was closed overnight there was a strong smell in the kitchen in the morning. The position and views of the cottage are amazing and if we can, we would love to return to explore the area more. Your neighbour was friendly but she has her own strong opinions as to the parking and these differ from your instructions. Our cars seemed safe and we had no complaints from the farmer or other road users. We visited your parish church Jesus Church on Sunday and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

We had a fabulous stay at Rose Cottage. It is a lovely cottage with a good layout, nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Plus it benefits from beautiful views from most windows. Our week was unseasonably cold for June and although the aga heated most of the cottage, the downstairs suite was quite chilly. However this was quickly rectified by the owner once notified.
A truly fantastic cottage very clean, immaculately decorated throughout with beautiful furnishings, and very comfortable. We were there for 2 weeks and had everything we could need for our stay, including a lovely welcome hamper from the owners which was such a nice touch. The location is also ideal only a 1015 minute drive to Windermere or Ambleside. There are also some very good walks that you can do from the cottage itself. Troutbeck is a lovely village it has 2 excellent pubs and a village post office shop that has all the essentials. The views over Troutbeck from the cottage are stunning. Will definitely be booking to stay again soon!
Lovely property just as described. Comfortable and well equipped and in a great position to walk straight from the house. We'd definitely come again.
The cottage itself was lovely with fantastic valley views, but there is an issue with parking at the cottage if your group has more than one car. There is only one identified parking space at the side of the property, although the owners believe that you can park two additional cars in the narrow country lane at the front of the property. When we tried that an angry farmer farmers use the lane at the front of the property 247 365 days a year stopped and told us in no uncertain terms to move. Alternative Parking in the tiny hamlet of Troutbeck is otherwise very difficult, due to the narrow country lanes, and only possible at some distance from the cottage.
The only thing I would change is the mattress on the Kingsize bed which was very firm causing aches and disturbed sleep. I obviously drew the short straw as the other two beds were fine.

Weve had a lovely time and will miss the cottage, I practically had to be dragged outside! I was so pleased to have experience of cooking on an aga a bit if a bucket list with me quiet and much needed rest. Netflix sub was a nice touch and the logs and stove made it sooo cosy!!! We posted on our insta stories but alas didnt tag you
Perfect week in a perfect home . A big Thankyou to the owners for their thoughtfulness in providing a Welcome Pack and such a lovely surprise to see the Christmas tree .
Andrew
Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location, a few more smaller saucepans and wooden spoons is needed. Heating was set a little too high for my liking. 100 I will be booking this property again.
This is a stunning house in the most beautiful location. Its equipped to the highest standard with everything you could possibly need. We only have one small but important criticism the loo brushes were dirty with faeces from previous holidaymakers!! Not the nicest experience! We intend no criticism to the owners but hope, rather, that this serves as constructive feedback for the cleaners. Apart from that, we had the most wonderful stay and really hope to return.

We loved our stay in rose cottage We will try to book again

Rose Cottage is located in the picturesque village of Troutbeck, with amazing walks literally on your doorstep. From its location overlooking the Troutbeck valley, even the grey skies and drizzly weather of our week at the end of July 2023 the summer that wasnt couldnt detract from the beauty of the outlook from the windows and garden of this delightful home. Inside are three lovely double bedrooms and three bathrooms, perfect for gatherings of friends or family. The wellequipped kitchen, with an AGA stove and conventional oven, is ideal if you enjoy dining at home. Homely, comfortable and spacious in a stunning setting, we were sad to leave both the cottage and the village, and would love to return one day.

We loved our stay at Rose Cottage with our children and one year old grandchild. Although the weather frustrated some of the things we had hoped to do we still managed to get out and Rose Cottage was a perfect place return to, being spacious enough for people to spread out and comfortable in each space. We were also very impressed with how beautifully this very old house has been adapted and changed without losing character.
We had a wonderful week at Rose Cottage. A beautiful peaceful location and a really comfortable and tastefully renovated cottage. We enjoyed some great walks, many straight from the cottage door really nice to be able to leave the car behind for a change. We also sampled the delights of the Queen's Head excellent food and very friendly service. All in all, couldn't have been better.
Superb cottage and location, walking from the door made it ideal.
From the minute we arrived to the moment we left Rose Cottage has been our beautiful holiday home for the week. Rose Cottage is beautifully decorated in every room the kitchen is such a great place to socialise over meals & the lounge is relaxing with fantastic art work. The garden area is colourful and welcoming with beautiful flowers and a view which changes at every glance ! sit on the bench and say hello to walkers ,& runners passing by ! each bedroom is immaculate and the beds are so comfy so provide a great night's sleep after a long day of walking and sight seeing. 3 bathrooms to chose from again tasteful & inviting for a soak at the end of the day. The village is friendly and the location is first class. Just the best weeks holiday my family & I have had in a long time we plan to return later in the year highly recommended.
A beautiful cottage in a beautiful place. Highly recommended.
This is such a beautiful, light, peaceful cottage, The owners have created a space that feels like home the minute you walk in the door. The location is idyllic on the edge of Troutbeck such a great base for exploring the abundance of walking the Lakes has to offer. We stayed in May and have booked again for September.. and maybe the logburner beckons a December stay
