Greystones Reviews

Great location very central, well equipped house, clean and comfy
Stuart
We had a very good relaxing week. The house was cosy, well appointed and with a bonus of being on a nice quiet street but still within easy reach of Bowness centre.
A lovely house in a great area. Weve stayed here twice before but not for some time. Perfect location for walking into Bowness, good facilities and a cosy house perfect for this time of year.
Perfect place! Very well maintained, great facilities and a great location! Couldnt have asked for a better place to stay!
We had a fantastic stay at Greystones. Very spacious well appointed accommodation. Loved the decor and artwork throughout. Very cosy and welcoming. Location was ideal within walking distance to the centre of Bowness. Bus stops a mere 100 yards away to take you further afield. Would definately recommend Greystones and hope that we have the chance to stay there again.

Great location and generally a nice home. Our issues Maintenance bedroom door handle only 1 screw which came out. Nearly got locked in. Bed slats came out numerous times from one single bed. 1 12 loo rolls left for 11 night stay. I rang and asked for more as you instruct us to do so in your book I was told it is self catering provide your own. Bath took an age to run . Shower very good. We were left with very dirty grill pan and oven tray. We agree with other reviews middle sitting area very dark and dingy in summer.
Nice house in a great location. Clean and tidy and with good selection of facilities .

A beautiful location for a holiday and to explore the Lake District.
Eunice
A charming cottage that is beautifully furnished and well equipped. Ypu can easily walk into Bowness and it has a pub at the end of the road which does meals with an early bird menu.
Lovely week and ticked all the boxes for us, we will be returning.
Nicola
We had a smashing week in this cottage. On street parking was always available. Kitchen was well equipped and everything was easy to use. Back patio area was perfect for a sunny breakfast and lunch. Dining room with table for 4 and some wainwright books to look through. Sunny front garden on an evening. Comfortable beds. Lovely shower over the bath. Cottage was a short walk down into Bowness. We would love to return.
Had a fantastic stay at Greystones. The place was spotlessly clean, great facilities, beautiful house, perfect location. A lot of thought has gone into the house, with clear instructions on how everything works. We will definitely be back at some point! Only thing we would say, it would be nice if there were a couple of logs, kindling and matches there to get you started. We had to do without on day one, and the next day we struggled to find anywhere to buy some eventually settling on heat logs as it was all we could find and then when we got back realised there wasnt even any matches to start the fire. A minor inconvenience but the only one we had.
The cottage was well maintained, nicely decorated and perfectly located. Instructions very clear and everything just great. Underfloor heating in bathroom and kitchen were the icing on the cake. Thank you!

We had a great time, lovely Cottage in a great location to walk into Bowness. A very enjoyable holiday.
Lovely cosy quirky cottage, loved the art work. Lovely and clean, appreciated the oven being clean also, as not always the case in other properties. Liked the inclusion of booklet of instructions for the heating, tv etc. Would defo book again. Shame the back room is a little dark, but still very comfortable, also the upstairs loo was not flushing properly. Great position for exploring both Windermere and Bowness on foot

We enjoyed our stay at Greystones. Ideal location within walking distance of both Windermere and Bowness and on a bus route. The living room was dark and we needed a light on most of the time. In contrast the dining room had much more light abd is larger. We think these rooms could be swapped over. The shower was great and the bed very comfy. The heated clothes drier was a real help. The kitchen was well equipped but we would have liked a coffee machine given that there is plenty of room in the kitchen. The information regarding rubbish collection and recycling needs to be updated.

We think the layout of the ground floor rooms was situated wrong. The lounge was situated near the kitchen and was very dark to the point having the light on during the day. It would in our opinion that this room should be switched with the room classed as the dining room. The room classed as the dining room as a better outlook to sit fitting the day. A smart tv would be better, especially for those who have a Netflix or Amazon subscription. Disappointed that there was only one toilet roll for the week.
Really enjoyed our stay. Perfect location and distance from lake. Plenty of cutlery and plates etc. Was also educational holiday as learnt how to use a dishwasher. Comfy beds and plenty of storage for clothes. Was lovely to sit outside and listen to birds. Neighbours to property are really friendly too. Only suggestions would be if have small child staying in twin room take a blackout blind as my son was waking up as soon as it got really bright so I got no lie ins but earlier mornings than normal. Not wanting to see 5.30am for a while. We were unsure why there was a sink in twin room and luckily he didn't try to use it. No leaving instructions in property we could find and had to search online to see which bin was to be emptied but these can easily be rectified. Will definitely be stopping at this property again.
Beautiful cottage, very cosy. Outdoor space lovely to have. Could not work out how to get into the garage to undertake recycling, so took our rubbish home. Step on landing is a bit of a tripping hazard, got up in the middle of the night and fell into the bathroom door. Hearth in double bedroom also a tripping hazard. Please do not take these as negative comments, we did thorough enjoy our stay, just suggestions.
Greystones was exceptionally clean and the beds were very comfortable. However, we felt that some extras would have made it perfect e.g. games and dvds for the young in case of bad weather. Some washing up liquid would have been nice and also, some teacoffee milk for those that had travelled several hours. Overall, a good house in a good location.
This was our second stay at Greystones. The property is beautiful and we had everything we needed for another wonderful stay. Only grumble was the shower didnt work not a huge problem but running baths was time consuming and probably costly! Thanks.
Debbie
Thank you for a lovely week in the Lakes. The cottage was clean, comfortable and conveniently located and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Andrea
We absolutely love this holiday cottage having stayed there twice previously. We booked at the very last minute and the lady on the phone from Heart of the Lakes was extremely helpful. I'm sure we'll be back as we just love this area of the Lake District and the cottage has everything that we require.
Matthew
Perhaps an extra toilet roll would have been great, but apart from that everything was great! D
Jonathan
Lovely property within walking distance of Bowmere and Windermere. A great base for exploring the southern lakes and homely and comfortable to stay. A useful kitchen and comfortable beds and excellent shower. The cottage is in a quiet residential street. We really enjoyed our stay. There was some noise during the day from the builders next door, but this was not intrusive. A great place.
Great place to stay with one drawback. This is a terraced house. On Sunday morning 8.00 am scaffolders arrived to put scaffolding up next door. For the rest of the week we had builders next door starting work at 8.00 am and finishing at at 5.00 pm. Most of the noise was from high speed drills. I wouldnt have booked had I know. I would think this work will take months to complete.
Really enjoyed our stay. Super clean, fab little cottage!
Angela
We stayed at this property in April for my 50th birthday, love the lake district. Wonderful place to stay, very cosy and homely. Had everything we needed. Parked car with no problems and did not move the car much all week. Bus stop close by caught to Ambleside. Sat out on the sun trap terrace for glass of wine and Scrabble. Beautifully decorated and fabulous shower will definitely be staying again soon. Everything you need very close by.
A lovely cosy cottage in a good position in Bowness. Able to walk from the door down the hill to the shops, restaurants and lake. Very clean with a well equipped kitchen and nice to have the outside seating space. Decent bathroom with a good shower. We would be very happy to stay at Greystones again. An oilcloth or some mats for the dining table would be appreciated
Michelle
We really enjoyed staying at Greystones. The house had lots of nice features like washing machinedishwasherheated airerunderfloor heating in the bathroom and kitchen so it was like a home away from home. The location was also great as it was just a couple of mins walk to Bowness with all of the pubsrestaurants. We didn't get to use the outdoor seating as it was cold but it would be lovely in the summer. The outdoor tap was very good for washing muddy trainers too. We would definitely stay here again! The only thing I would say is that the master bedroom feels much colder than the rest of the rooms in the house but if the door was left open the heat gets through!
The location was great, the cottage was lovely and clean. ..however as we were staying over Christmas and Boxing day we were disappointed that the owner had made no effort to put out even a line of tinsel. We ended up having to bring our own Christmas tree. Love Heart of the Lakes, love the location, would not go back to this cottage.
Yvonne
We had a great stay at Greystones. The house was very comfortable and the instructions for the different facilities were clear. The location was good for shops and walks for us, as we didn't have a car and could easily walk to places. The only suggestion we would make is for a curtain behind the front door as when lights were on in the evening there was no privacy for people coming down the stairs can be seen from the street. Bur this wasn't a big issue. Also many thanks for locating our daughters sheep, that was left behind!
Brilliant tastefully furnished cottage excellent fitted kitchen with top of the ... Brilliant tastefully furnished cottage excellent fitted kitchen with top of the range appliances bathroom with dual controls for the power shower over bath so you can just walk under shower when correct temperature full central heating log burner in lounge and open coal effect gas fire in dinning room just what you need in the cooler months We will certainly be going back everything you need in a holiday cottage and more Thanks to the owner for providing such outstanding levels of comfort
Well appointed cottage, very clean and everything needed to enjoy a self catering holiday. Ideally positioned for anyone using public transport as bus stop at the bottom of the road about 100 yards from the property with buses to Bowness pier, Windermere and beyond every 20 minutes. There is an excellent restaurant pub also at the bottom of the road, although opening times were restricted to Thursday to Sunday due to shortage of staff during our visit. Car parking could be an issue at busy times, but I always managed to find a place if not immediately outside the the front gate. All in all we had a great week's holiday.
