The enclosed yard provides safe outdoor space. Two sitting rooms mean children can play games while adults relax. Windermere Lake is under 2 miles for boat trips and watersports during summer months.

This property is better suited to larger groups than couples due to its size and four bedrooms. The two sitting rooms and multiple floors mean it feels too spacious for two people. 48 Oak Street Reviews

Matthew
A really well looked after property, just a minutes walk from the heart of Windermere village. 4 lovely bedrooms, 2 spacious living areas, and a really well equipped kitchendiner.
Convenient, couple of minutes walk to the restaurants and shops. Property is big and kitchen is well equipped. Could do a little bit more on the cleanliness. Cutlery and cups are not very clean and still have tea stained and food stuck on it. Carpet looks dirty, we normally dont wear shoes in the house but unable to do that. Couple of the towels and bed sheets have staines. Beds are comfy though and overall it was good.
Michele
Trs bien plac et lit confortable. Possibilit de se garer devant le gte trs apprciable.

The gate at the back was fenced off so we could not take dog out downstairs ! ! Front door was all cracked paint !! Next door flats were hanging out of windows with a strange smell coming our way !! Think the price we paid was far too much !! I have left my phone charger & you want me to pay 30 !!!! To return it which is just ridiculous
Claire
Holiday home in a perfect location close to the local town. Lovely size property and plenty of space in all the rooms with comfy beds. Nice little courtyard ideal for the dog. No complaints at all. Parking permits were ideal and no issues with those at all. Great having two front rooms as families so that kids could enjoy one room and adults still had a space too.

Spacious for the 8 of us plus our dog. Excellent location. The main issue we had was that we got given the wrong key code for the house. Imagine travelling over 5 hours with 2 elderly relatives and a 12 year old lab to find you can't get in and worry you have been scammed. Even worse when Skye Cottages had given us 2 numbers to try, one of which no one answered and the other the person was so incredibly rude, hanging up on me twice saying I was bothering him and it wasn't his issue so how come we were given his number in the first place Eventually after 40 minutes of pure panic the home owner rang back and casually said oh we had the wrong key code. No call or check in after to see if we were OK, or had actually managed to get in. We were also told the washing machine was broken, one day before we were due to travel. I understand things happen but didn't plan on spending one of my days having to hang around at the laundrette waiting for my clothes. Also said we could be re embursed for that but wasn't told how? 3 of the beds also had stained dirty sheets. Parking was ok, IF you managed to get a space in front of the property. 2 of our relatives had mobility issues so it was alot of back and forth having to drop them and drive to the parking place if no spaces were available. I would 100 go back to the Lake District, but I unfortunately would not stay at this accommodation again.
Great location close to shops, restaurants, cafes and public transport
Alexandra
The house was supposed to have 2 parking permits one being for the street. The street permit was missing. This was reported to the office and we were told nothing could be done. As a result the week was very stressful as the parking situation was awful. We dreaded com8ng back to the property. On the Friday of our holiday we got a parking ticket. We have never had this kind of experience before and it has put us off for the future. How can you assure 2 parking permits but provide only 1 and then basically say, tough, nothing we can do. In the end we cut the holiday shirt and left a day early as we had had enough. Came back from a holiday in a worse state of stress than when I started.

This property was not clean. There were numerous surfaces that were unclean and dusty with big cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and around the windows. There was dirty crockery in the cupboard and the blender had remains of food on it and was broken. There was dog poo in the garden and part of the guttering was hanging off. We tried to contact Sykes and the emergency number with no success. The positives the beds were comfy and there was plenty of hot water and a good location.

This cottage is lovely and very close to the shops, train and bus stations. The property is listed as having two bathrooms it has two full bathrooms, but also two additional toilets so four altogether. The property also provides dog bowls and hair dryers, though they are not listed in the amenities. The property was spacious and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped with an array of pots, pans, baking tins and dishes, cutting boards, utensils and a cafetiere. The kettle was spotless! A dish towel is provided, but no oven mitspot holders. This makes it very difficult to get your hot pans out of the oven without burning your fingers. There is an abundance of hand and soap and washing up liquid, but you will need to bring your own body washsoap. There were towels and bath sheets, which I loved, that are nicely warmed on the large towel warmers in the bathrooms. Sykes is great They check in after your fist night to make sure you have everything you need and are very diligent and responsive. We had a lovely holiday!
The top floor toilet runs constantly and the shower does not soak away so you have to stand in water. The back garden needs attention. There was rubbish left out back from previous tenants. The top floor front bedroom was not cleaneddusted, there was rubbish from previous tennants between the bed and the bedside table..
Lovely house. Plenty of room for seven people and to have privacy if wanted. All of the bathrooms and toilets extremely clean as of course the rest of the house. Our dog loved the park at the end of the street and we liked the food stores at the other end of the street. Beautiful house and we enjoyed our stay there.
Great for large group accommodation, plenty of space and facilities where great. Location was excellent to many shop and place to eat and drink. Beds were comfortable and plenty of wash rooms. WIFI Instructions left with parking permits. The courtyard was a little untidy looked not tended to. The check in time was far too late 4pm and unable to contact the owner to negotiate early check in. Check out was far to early 10am. Its a very large house to get shorted with little time in morning. Only one general waste bin found at the property unable to recycle properly. Over all we would book this property again we had a great time, thank you
Property had everything we needed and was a great base for us. The owner was very helpful in sorting out an issue with the parking permits, thank you.
We had a great stay property was clean and comfortable. Loads of details left about the house and what to find locally. Thank you!
Joanne
The cottage was lovely, comfortable and clean with all the amenities that you would need. Fabulous location in the heart of Windermere easy access to restaurantsbars and a nice walk into Bowness. We would definitely return and highly recommend to others.
Natasha
Great weekend stay for a family of seven, plenty of space for everyone, house was clean and well maintained, would definitely recommend!
The property didnt get off to a good of start when I had to remove a lot of litter from outside the front door. Inside, the living areas and kitchendiner were a bit tired. All could do with a freshen updeep clean. Both upper floors were better. Beds comfortable and nice bathrooms. The kitchendiner floors were so sticky when we arrived that I had to mop them twice. The dishes werent clean and the cupboards were full of crumbs etc. The stairs leading down to the kitchen werent clean, bins hadnt been emptied in the back sitting room, there was no hand wash or dishwasher tablets provided, 2 bedrooms had broken bedside lamps, the double room on the first floor had a broken door handle and also the wardrobe in that room was missing a handle. The courtyard was very small but could be made better if tidied up and plants trimmed back, if at full occupancy there would not be enough seats for everyone to sit outside. Unfortunately during our stay there was a large, very noisy dog on the other side of the fence so we were unable to sit out for long. All small things but there was a lot of them, a bit disappointing considering the cost of the stay.
We had a great stay at Oak Street. Excellent location for pubs and restaurants, and only a short walk into Bowness. The house was lovely and clean with great facilities and we appreciated the inclusion of parking permits, which made life a lot easier. All in all, we really enjoyed our break and would definitely come back. Thanks for having us.
Alison
Great location only 2 minutes walk away from Windermere shops and restaurants. Good size accommodation for 68 people we loved the kitchen and dining room and having two living rooms. The WiFi had a strong signal and there are two bathrooms with good showers. The beds were comfortable all in all a great property for a large family or friends sharing. The kitchen is well set up with all you need but you need to read the instructions to work the oven.
Alison
Great property with lots of space. Loved the kitchen dining area in the basement, and this is where we ended up spending most of our time. Ideally situated for shops, pubs etc. and also for exploring the area. Parking permits were a bonus as we had 2 cars and didn't have to worry about finding a space. House was very well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable long weekend, and although there were a couple of small maintenance issues when we arrived which the owner offered to rectify straight away, this did not affect our stay at all. Overall we had a great time and would return to this property.
It wasnt cheap but I definitely got what I expected. Parked 2 cars very close by. All bedrooms were clean and pleasant, loads toilets and bathrooms! The rooms were quiet inside especially the top floor. Best part by far is the lower floor with its modern kitchen and lovely dining room complex, fabulous place for a dinner party. Couple of negatives, the wobbly door handles need attention, on most doors. someone was locked in their room a few times and mine fell off. And the cooker is ridiculously complicated We had to google the instructions. Youd have to be a lover of the Lake District but the house is very good for a group. Well done
Lovely place just a couple of minor issues, many of the bulbs had blown, the floor in the back lounge felt like it had been polished with something other than floor cleaner it was very very slippy. Other than that perfect stay. Thank you.
Great location . The cottage had everything we needed.
Couldn't ask for a better location for windermere and surrounding areas. The cottage is lovely, clean and spacious. We had 4 couples stay and we didn't feel too cramped, plenty of space to socialise without being on top of each other. Just wish we had booked to stay for longer!!
We enjoyed the cottage. The only thing that didnt work for us was the kitchen in the basement with quite steep stairs. It was very well equipped but the oven controls were very complicated. The underfloor heating was excellent for drying washing. Excellent location. Park with modernised play area and brilliant new bike ramps at one end, which kept our grandchildren well entertained, to the Co op and shops at the other. Parking was a bit inconvenient but adequate. Often meant going to retrieve the car and bring it nearer to house when a space.
Sharon
Lovely spacious house, even better that there was multiple bathrooms especially when there are 8 people sharing. On street parking was bit of a challenge in the week but got a good space at the weekend. Would definitely recommend and the host was incredibly helpful.
Caroline
I felt that the property was not clean. All settees were covered in dog hair, the water in the bathrooms was very slow to drain. The table downstairs was permanently sticky not matter how many times we wiped it. The access to the front door was overgrown, to the point where it was difficult to pass. The location was very convenient . We had a pleasant stay but I will not be returning to this property.
Michelle
On arrival the house was not as clean as I would have expected I had to wipe the kitchen sides before use. Garden court yard was shabby and in need of attention. We knew that we only had one parking space along the road but never managed to get a space meaning we had to find 2 car parking spaces throughout the holiday. Only one set of keys provided, there is a key box outside front door but felt insecure leaving keys in it the whole time. It would have been really nice to have had recommendations from owners on local places to goeat.
Amanda
The cottage was well set up , clean and comfortable , well placed in Windermere . However there were a few little things , dripping taps, a sink that didnt drain . But overall we had a great stay thank you
Maxine
The house was lovely inside lovely big rooms with plenty of space. 7 of us stayed and we were all impressed with the house. We had one problem the fridge packed in and although the maintenance company were not as good as they could have been once the owner was involved the situation was resolved straight away and he could not have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend this house.
A well appointed house, advert was accurate and the facilities and layout superb. Office were great with us. Easy to use and would recommend Sykes.
Great location, within walking distance of everything in town, fully equipped house, comfortable. Parking ok with permits.
Elaine
We loved everything about this house, but notice a shortage of some kitchen items. There were only 6 forks, not good for a house that accommodates 8 people, there were 7 of us. There was also a shortage of tumbler type glasses. And a little suggestion it would have been nice to have some champagneProsecco type glasses. Spare toilet rolls would also be appreciated.
Brenda
The house worked really well for us as we had three generations spread over 4 floors there are plenty of rooms so everyone had space to do as they pleased and the kitchendiner was large enough to accommodate us all comfortably. Being an old house the sound insultation was good so noise did not travel. The kitchen was very well equipped and the house comes with three TVs including Sky and BT Sports, a great hit with the young men in the house. The house is nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and generally well equipped it felt like a home from home. Location wise, we had never stayed in Windermere before but really enjoyed the accessibility of the house to the local shops, it meant everyone was independent and able to shopeatdrink without a car which was nice after spending the day walking. Parking, which I thought might be a bit tricky, was absolutely fine. We were always able to park outside the house with the permit and the other permit enabled us to park in the car park around the corner where indeed there is also freely available parking onstreet parking for nonpermit holders so if you have a third car that is no problem either. We would definitely return.
Vikhyaat
Only thing that i would improve would be the beds. They were too soft and the support for the back when one lies down is not great.
Stephanie
We all had a fantastic half term holiday in the property. There were a few issues with the TV while we were there, Sykes were brilliant and very helpful in getting it replaced. There are lots of stairs! A really lovely location, Windermere has some lovely pubs and cafes and only 5 minutes drive to Bowness. The kids loved having a separate living room to us and the Grandparents too.
The garden furniture needs replacing with sufficient and sturdy items. Despite the hot weather the central heating was on and not apparently easy to switch off. The large oven was difficult to operate. The bbq does not seem to work well. Otherwise well equipped and well positioned property with plenty of space.
Amazing property, would deifinately stay again. Well presented inside and out. Nice little refreshments made available which was a nice touch. Great location.
