Walk to The Queens Head pub for dinner without driving. The peaceful Troutbeck location keeps you away from tourist crowds. Enjoy morning coffee watching sheep graze on surrounding fells. The modern kitchen allows romantic meals in while the lawned garden provides outdoor seating.

Dogs are welcome at Valley View. The lawned garden with two patio sets gives pets outdoor space. Walking routes start directly from the door with miles of footpaths and bridleways. Valley View Reviews

We really enjoyed our holiday at Valley View. The property is very conveniently situated with amazing views. It is comfortable, clean and well equipped. We would definitely like to stay there again.
Andrzej
The listing and pictures do not do this property justice. Nice & clean, beautiful view, central location, close enough to everywhere. Both bedrooms ensuite. Great showers. Well stocked, modern kitchen. Well definitely be back.
If you love the Lake District and peace and quiet this is the perfect holiday apartment. It has all the amenities for a holiday including 2 modern ensuite bath and shower rooms, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable bed. Cant comment on the heating as we visited during a week long heatwave. Plenty of walks nearby no need to get the car out. Two great pubs and a cafe that made wonderful breakfasts all within 10min walk from front door. It was so lovely to be in the Lakes and away from the crowds.
Lorraine
Lovely cottage everything you could need provided.
Alison
A lovely property in a truly stunning location with great walks from the door and a lovely pub just a couple of mins away.
Jeanette
Took my dad here for a short break. The apartment was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you needed and all the manuals available to help work the oven and hob. The furniture in the living room was a bit dated but still really comfortable. Beds were really comfy and both of us having an ensuite was great. Each apartment has its own parking spaces but make sure you trust your handbrake ha ha. There is 2 pubs with excellent food withing walking distance, one of them only 2 mins up the road. The views from here are immense, changing with the weather every time you look out the window. We managed to get a few hours in the garden which has 2 patio sets to enjoy the sun if it's out, all you can hear is the birds and the river, its heaven. Whilst in the garden we saw 2 RAF hawk planes go past practically at our level which was amazing. Windermere and Ambleside are only about a 10 min drive from the apartment which was really handy. And if you like a good scone make sure to stop at the old Post office in the village as theirs are beautiful! Thanks for making our mini stay really enjoyable.
An excellent property in a perfect setting. We were only here for 2 nights but wish it could have been longer.
The property is clean and well equipped. The view is lovely and we enjoyed watching the sheep and lambs. Shower room is a bit small but otherwise all is good. The only drawback, there is no airer to dry your clothes.
Evelina
The property enjoys an excellent location with beautiful views. It is very comfortable and well equipped, we found everything we needed for a pleasant stay. We are not able to walk much because of ill health and the beautiful location with good pubs nearby was perfect for us. However the area is a walkers paradise and the paths pass literally by the house. Definitely a place we hope to visit again soon
Lianne
A wonderful location with plenty of footpaths and bridleways straight from the door. The property was beautifully clean and had everything that we needed. A few minor improvement points Turning on the oven wasn't immediately obvious but no problem once we'd taken a look at the instruction manual. The toilet flush in one of the bathrooms was loose and didn't return to its original position, which meant that the toilet ran on if you forgot to manually return the lever. One of the kitchen chairs was also broken but useable. As the property is on the ground floor, we could hear people moving around and talking in the property above but this wasn't a big problem and we knew to expect this.
Great looking cottage & location with fantastic views & an up to date interior. Apart from a dirty frying pan & baking tray, the cleanliness & appliances were excellent. We did have a wet boot on the first day as the roof between the porch & house leaked but otherwise we had one of our best stays in The Lakes & were hoping to extend our stay but couldnt get through to Sykes. This was a blessing as it happened as, on the last day, people arrived in the top apartment & were so noisy it has unfortunately put us off staying there again. Great to have a welcome pack of dishwasher tabs, cloths etc.
We had a very lovely stay at Valley View. Its location is excellent. We have already booked another stay for 2025.
We stayed at this cottage during the Christmas holiday and found it to be a mixed experience. The property itself is charming and in a beautiful location, but there were several issues that affected our stay. The heating in the house is not very strong, making it relatively cold during the winter months, and it cannot be adjusted, which was inconvenient. The shower water was also on the colder side, though still manageable. Additionally, the cottages are part of a connected complex, and one of the other houses triggered a fire alarm while setting up their fire pit. This disrupted all the cottages for about half an hour, including ours while we were enjoying Christmas dinner. We contacted the maintenance team, but they only recorded the issue over the phone and didnt resolve it immediately. The next morning, the house lost power entirely, forcing us to change our plans and head into town instead of staying in. Overall, the place has potential, but these minor issues, especially during the colder months, detract from the experience. While its a decent option for a stay, I would recommend improvements to heating, water temperature, and maintenance response to make it more comfortable for guests.
Angela
Our second stay at Valley View this year. We love the location for walking and Ambleside easily accessible by car or across the fells. Nice to have 2 pubs very nearby. Wonderful views from the property and garden area. We felt the apartment was very well equipped and pleased all instructions for kitchen items now in handbook which is really helpful. Thank you for another enjoyable holiday. Angela
Clean, comfortable accommodation. Great facilities. Great location. Broadband was a bit ropey but not sure if that was a BT issue. I would thoroughly recommend it.
Fantastic peaceful location with stunning views across the valley. Spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds and tastefully done en suites. However no extra toilet rolls provided, only rental accommodation I've been where we had to buy more. Good luck with cooking as there isn't a single baking tray, bread knife or fish slice, not even the basics. No information on anything regarding the heating or rubbish.
The apartment was very nice, clean and comfortable. Each time we looked out of a window, the sheep were looking in! We loved it.
Lovely apartment and location, I had a great time and would definitely go back.
Joseph
We really enjoyed ourselves the views where brilliant. The place was spotless and would certainly go again.
Angela
Loved our stay at Valley View. After a week of walking the Dales Way we wanted a quiet stay in the Lakes for a few days and the property was perfect. Bathrooms and kitchen all brand new and immaculate. Everything catered for and very comfortable. Views were outstanding. Tiny issue was difficulty in working the hob as couldn't locate any instructions anywhere but got there in the end. Will certainly be returning. Thank you for a great stay.
Andrew
We had problems with the wifi which turned out to be the wrong password. This was very quickly resolved by the owners son. Could have done with instructions for the washing machine. The windows would benefit from cleaning on the outside. Overall a truly lovely property which was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with high quality items. A real home from home.
Gaynor
Enjoyed our holiday in the lake district very much. There was no information book in the apartment, also couldnt find wifi code.
Beautiful property in beautiful location . Minor point, no information book and struggled to find the WiFi code
Lovely place and perfect location for walks. Nice and warm, had everything we needed, secluded but near pubs and shops. Some minor complaints would be finding a stick on nail in the bedroom and the smart tv not connecting to the wifi. These were outweighed by the positives and we would definitely like to return to valley view in the future.
