The Old Coach House Reviews

Cheryl
The Old Coach House is outstanding. The house, location, facilities are all excellent it was the perfect place to come together as a family to celebrate an important birthday. We enjoyed everything about it. In contrast, my experience of Sykes Cottages, who appear to be responsible for overall management, rather than Lakelovers is poor. We have booked with Lakelovers many times in the past and they were always very good, whereas dealing with Sykes was hopeless. They were definitely not responsive, whereas on the rare occasions when I managed to speak with someone at Lakelovers when a few issues needed resolving it was much more satisfactory.
Absolutely delightful property, really wellmaintained with beautiful decor and location. Stunning fireplace, wellequipped kitchen, wonderful library of books and games, very comfortable beds and linen and a great TVgame room for the children. Our only slight disappointment after a longjourney to get there was there were no teabags or anything to welcome us perhaps weve been spoilt in the past whenever weve hired properties or it was an oversight. Also no hand soap in any of the upstairs bathrooms which we found a bit surprising. We completely appreciated that no dogs were allowed upstairs, but it would be useful to provide some sort of stair gate perhaps? We had to fashion a device out of the clothes horse which did the trick, but was a bit unwieldy!! Only a very slight gripe as the house really was lovely and we enjoyed a wonderful family Christmas there we didnt want to leave and will surely book again remembering to pack our own teabags! in the future. Thank you for providing us with some fabulous family memories!

We loved staying here. So comfortable we felt at home right away. A perfect location to explore the lakes. Would absolutely come back. Thanks for sharing your lovely home.
What a beautiful old house in the heart of the Lake District, surrounded by stunning views and close to the Kirkstone Pass, with its wonderful scenic drive when heading to Ambleside. It is very well equipped to a good standard, with lots of room for our party of seven. Easy drives to Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside it is very well positioned in the area. A delightful stay!
Alison
Lost count of how many times we've visited the Old Coach House. It never disappoints. Would recommend it wholeheartedly. The only property we have stayed at where it exceeds the description. We have replenished the marbles for the Solitaire plus spares!
Spot on just what you would want.
Philip
This is a truly delightful property set in a lovely peaceful location, with parking space for four cars. The house is very spacious, well equipped and well maintained. The beds are extremely comfortable, which we especially appreciated after walking on the fells. We had a great week's holiday here, and were sorry to leave it when it was time to return home!
A very beautiful cottage with everything you need for a wonderful holiday. Will be booking again.
The old coach house is a fantastic place for a large family get together . Very comfortable and spacious. Fabulous views from all the bedrooms . The house is very homely and welcoming . May I suggest a television in the living room as the playroom feels like a playroom and not a particularly appealing place to spend an evening. Also the sofas in the living room arent very comfortable and are a bit tired looking . Also it would be helpful if there was a house information folder . There was only medical access info and rubbish collection. Didnt know where the recycling went. Other than these issues we had a really good week. And the sun shone !

Lovely week away. .second time we've stayed so we must like it. Small thing but handled very well. A roof tile had come loose in high winds requiring some scaffolding to repair. It was only there for one day...the workmen were very good...and 2 bottles of champagne as compensation were very welcome.
We absolutely loved The Old Coach House. We wanted a property with lots of space and that is what we got!. If anything the photographs on the website don't do the property justice and that's a rare thing. Minor issue with heatinghot water fixed very promptly.
Barbara
TOCH was a fabulous property. Great location and the garden was perfect for our dog. The house was spotlessly clean thanks to Jose. The facilities were good, beds super comfortable, but remember to take your own ttowels and bath sheets, if needed The WiFi was good in most of the house. Overall, a place we would definitely book again,
Victoria
What a wonderful, family holiday and a fantastic property. The Old Coach House was absolutely perfect for us 6 adults, 2 children, an infant and a dog! so spacious, well equipped, cosy and homely. A beautiful family home in a fantastic location. We stayed during the week of all the snow in Cumbria and got snowed in which we found great fun, making snowmen with the children. There was a brief power outage due to the snow one evening, but the owner rang within a couple of minutes to reassure us and point us in the direction of things we needed eg candles, extra blankets. I cant praise this property enough!
Jennifer
This was our second visit and it was just as good. We really love this beautiful, comfortable house and would certainly recommend it. So spacious and clean and cosy with a fabulous garden. Everything you need is there..just a great place and hopefully we will return again
A lovely house, with large rooms and a great decor. The only instructions were generic ones from Lakelovers. They could have been phrased in a little more friendly fashion. There was a lack of specific information about the property. For example that the hot water was off and needing switching on. I had a cold shower the first morning.
Bridget
Extremely comfortable stay for five adults, one baby and one dog. Plenty of room for all with large comfortable beds in specious well appointed rooms. There were three bathrooms upstairs, one ensuite, plus a downstairs cloakroom. The house is obviously very loved by it's owners and they have equipped the home to a very high standard. If you love quality natural materials you will be pleasantly rewarded with the use of stone and oak. Best of all was the location. Stunning views from every angle. A lovely little walk up to the Mortal Man pub using the path behind the church. We enjoyed the walk back down looking at the interesting little village. The garden is a mature treat. We were blessed with perfect weather early in June and I found myself just sitting and gazing at the gorgeus environment. Only slight downside is the poor Wifi coverage. A booster here and there might help. Although there is a vast supply of maps and tourist information in the house some local hints and tips and general house information would have been a nice to have. Thank you for providing the makings of a lovely family get together and holiday.
Great accommodation. .lovely location only problem..if there was a fire there is only one exit..the front door! There were no keys for the other doors in the property. Is that legal?
Philip
Super house. Loads of space. Great bedrooms and bathrooms. Sitting room would benefit from sofas replacing though maintaining the country house style would be ideal. Kitchen very well equipped. Home from home.
Jennifer
We were so happy with our choice. We loved the house so much we have booked again next year. Every single thing you could want is there. The garden is amazing,we enjoyed sitting out in the peace. Second lounge with table tennis and games kept everyone amused.Bedrooms and bathrooms all large with beautiful views. And an office too! Walks from the door. 2 pubs close by. What can I say...we found our little piece of heaven. It was just perfect
Katherine
Lovely cottage in a perfect position especially for walking. The cottage was very well equipped, comfortable and a lovely garden. Shame the WIFI only worked in the kitchen just needs a booster. Otherwise a perfect stay and would love to go back. Ate at the Queens Head in the village, lovely food worth a visit.
Return visit to The Old Coach House and another great week. Ideal location in Troutbeck.Great walks from the doorstep to Ambleside,Windermere Bowness and the 2 pubs in the village The Mortal Man and The Queens Head.
Heather
Really lovely weekend and would definitely recommend. Well stocked kitchen, very spacious and fantastic views. Need larger bath towels and better outdoor garden furniture x
It was a pleasure again to stay here. The weather was exceptionally good which made the week. We look forward to our next birthday stay., and, with luck, many more.
This was our second stay at TOCH. It is ideal for a family gathering for my wifes and my birthdays hence rebooking for next year. House is superbly equipped. Even having to work is a pleasure given the view from the study.
Stayed at many beautiful properties over the last 35 years in the Lake District The Old couch House was at the top of our list for size, cleanliness, comfort location ,and parking. The only negative point I have is the stair lift ,which wasnt listed ,but would have been a great asset for my 90 year old mother ,but unfortunately it said DO NOT USE !
Alison
Our sixth visit. As good as ever. The woodland area looks lovely. We missed the magnetic letters on the fridge door! Our stay was later than usual this time to celebrate two significant birthdays lovely sitting by the log fire in the lounge in the evening, plenty of space for our party of six adults and two children.
We had a great week at the Old Coach House. It's set in a great location and is only a short drive away from Ambleside and Windermere. The accommodation is ideal for a family. It's really spacious and the garden is great. We couldn't fault it it was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for a great stay. Thank you
Philip
Extremely high standard of fittings and finish in the property. Lots of space throughout the property and very comfy beds. Also sky sports on the TV was great for the cricket! Only build would be access to the shed in the garden to store bikes and other outdoor kit. Fantastic property in a wonderfully scenic location.
Louise
Light in fridge stopped working on first day. House requires booster for WiFi especially in office . Was to be holiday were I could work. Ended up loosing two days as had to return home. Wasps nest in roof above toilet in ensuite. No problem with wasps but needs to be fixed. Fans in ensuite and shower room did not work. Bath towels too small. Shower turn on in shower room very difficult as some times would turn shower on sometimes not. Requires fixing.gardener turned up on Thursday. We did not know he was coming. Went straight into garden did not ring door bell or check with us before starting work. He had his dog with him and just let it run around garden. This set our dog of barking . Took our dog out on lead to meet the gardener dog but it showed our dog its teeth. Said to gardener I was not really happy with this situation and he agreed to come back the next day when we had left.
The towels need to be bigger, but bar that a perfect location with plenty of room, decent facilities.
We all loved our stay at The Old Coach House. Its Its in a superb location with a fantastic safe garden and the house itself provided a brilliant weeks stay.
Our fifth stay at this property. Wherever we go nothing matches it. Always look forward to arriving and always sorry to leave.
This is the 4th year in this property. We are a family of 7 this year our numbers were increased by a baby and dog. The property nestled in the peaceful valley of Troutbeck. The kitchen is the heart of this house. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very comfortable and everything of a high quality.
