Rose House Reviews

Elaine
Excellent property and location, would love to return.
The property was spacious, modern and well equipped, with parking for two cars. It is close to shops, pretty much as advertised and a bonus that the TV's were easy to use! Great location. Cleanliness mainly very good, let down by floors including the outside. Storage excellent unfortunately the excessive amount of bed cushions maybe 610 per room that had to be relocated to get into bed! left less space for personal items which is a real shame so the rooms became cluttered. Noise pub opposite was lively on several occasions into the early hours. Bedding comfy beds, pillows and duvets were a very mixed bag and some were unfortunately lumpy foam filled. Kitchen well equipped, unfortunately all the large nonstick pans had badly broken surfaces and need replacing, baking tray in oven was dirty and kitchen table has an uncleanable sticky surface which needs sorting.

Booked this as a family get together. 7 adults, a 1 year old and a dog.The accommodation was very comfortable, was large enough to give us all our own space. It was equipped very well, don't think we had a should have brought that moment. Rose house is handy for the town of Windermere and its shops and restaurants and Bowness for the lake with its trips. To be fair it was good access for most things associated with the area. It was perfect for our family event. It will be the first accommodation checked for the next visit to the lakes we plan.
Michele
Rose House was a beautiful place to stay, it was immaculate throughout and the attention to detail was perfect. The surrounding area was nice and peaceful with easy access into Windermere and Bowness. Would definitely recommend a stay there and we are all looking forward to staying there again.
An absolutely stunning house! Everything you could ever need or want from a property everything was exceptional. Fully stocked kitchen with more than enough plates, glasses cutlery etc. Wine fridge, large freezer, beautifully decorated lovely outside seating area which gets the sun! We stated as a party of 6 and a dog had a lovely Monday Friday stay everything was great! Beds were very comfortable enough pillows the owners have really thought about this lovely house! Great walk into Windermere and down to Bowness get the bus back up the hills!!!! We will be back!

We had an amazing time at Rose House to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. The house is beautifully decorated and has everything you need and more for a selfcatering break but the pub The Brookside across the road is very friendly and does excellent food. In a great location and only a short walk into the centre of Windermere. Would highly recommend and look forward to visiting the Lake District again. Thank you
Really nice property. Ideally located for those who enjoy a pint. Pub is directly over the road. Kitchen really well equipped, bedrooms are very nice and the living room is quality with the fire going. PlayStation for the young'ns is a nice touch. Would definitely revisit in future.
We had a great stay at Rose Cottage for my mums 60th. The house is immaculate, stylish, very comfortable and finished to a high standard. Everything was very clean and in working order when we arrived. Seven of us stayed there including our 3 year daughter and it suited everyone's needs. I noticed there was a travel cot and high chair for younger children if required. The house is located in the centre of Windermere within walking distance to the town and a lovely little walk Orrest Head. It is a great base for exploring the lakes, whilst being lovely and cosy to return to at the end of the day. We couldn't fault the property and would love to book again if we were visiting the area. Very happy with our stay, thank you!!
A very nice cottage very well furnished and spacious, the underfloor heating also made a great difference

My family and grand children were amazed at the property. Everything was provided and the location was very handy for both Bowness and Windermere. I would definitely return to the property and recommend it to others.
Lauren
Lovely stay, house is laid out and equipped very nicely. The kitchen dining area is fantastic for a family gathering and the house is well looked after and suitably safe for a three and a six year old. Great location for walking into Windermere or Bowness. Fantastic help from Debbie when the shower broke on Christmas Eve. No bin bags left and could do with some more tea towels and toilet rolls but theyre just pointers. Stay was perfect for Christmas the house was decorated beautifully, the welcome hamper was a lovely touch and the gift bags left for my daughters were received with delight. The owners went over and above to make our stay special.

The whole family had a great stay. House in excellent order, plenty of kitchen equipment.nice comfortable beds.House was of a really high standard.Nice local pub right across the road.Short walk into Windermere, slightly longer to Bowness, but easily walkable.Would highly recommend, and would definitely go back. You wont be dissapointed with this property.
Could not find anything negative at all. House was very tastefully decorated and finished to an exceptional standard. We met our daughter and family from Edinburgh for an autumn break and had a wonderful time. Our thanks to the owners for their wonderful taste which truly made it feel like our home from home. With best wishes from Lesley, Barry, Sue, Steve, Caitlin ,Ellen and Ross.
Rebecca
Overall very comfortable welcoming stay. If you cant get the induction hob started we discovered that at least one of the pans wasnt conduction compatible, so beware. Fabulous rain effect showers, again though beware if you use the bath and its on the shower setting it will run down back of bath to the floor. Blind in the living room right window not fully opening and curtains in here and dining room would add cosiness. Wood burner worked great and starter wood pack and washing pods etc great addition.
Michael
Rose House is an excellent holiday property. It is well maintained and beautifully presented both externally and internally. The host has considered just about everything that you might need for a perfect holiday. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and would like to thank the host for helping to make this possible. Highly recommended.
An excellent property with everything thought of and more ! Very clean and an enjoyable place to stay. Thank you
Vikram
Absolutely lovely, thoroughly enjoyed the property. Games were loved by the kids and we loved the book exchange! Could do with toilet roll throughout, otherwise very happy guests! Will be staying again
Christine
Booked a lastminute 5night stay, at Rose House and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious property within short walking distance of Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. The standard of accommodation is exceptional and whilst we were only a party of 3 plus a dog the property is well equipped and would comfortably accommodate 8 guests as advertised. An added bonus for us was private off street parking. Will certainly be recommending Rose House to family and friends and hoping to book again for a return visit. Thank you
Took my family away for a weekend as we do every year, all said the same thing best one yet Rose House was perfect for us. The house its self was amazing everything you could need was provided we would not hesitate to come again.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Rose House. The location is perfect, a pleasant easy walk between Bowness one way and Windermere the other. The house itself is one of the best laid out and decorated homes Ive ever stayed in and I have stayed in a few. The owner has thought of everything, I couldnt even leave a single recommendation for improvement. The pub across the road is friendly and was a nice feature as it gets somewhat busy early evening and in the sun so you hear a nice buzz if sitting out on the garden terrace but is not noisy later on or rowdy and we were there with a Euros England game on nothing could be heard inside the house. The car charger was an added bonus as there isnt an abundance of such facilities in this neck of the woods so was better than sitting in the Booths car park to charge great supermarket by the way. Dog friendly too as is most of Windermere, we had no problems eating out well and going on boat trips with our pooch. We would return in a heartbeat and may even return to Windermere specifically because this house is there.

Everything was great, we stayed May half term last year and the property has since been renovated, beds were a lot more comfy and the property looked a lot more modern and brighter. We only had one issue about the property, we felt that it was not the cleanest. On arrival we had to hoover as there was crumbs all over the kitchen floor as well as dog hair all over down stairs, kitchendiner room, hallway and living room. Pots also had hair in them so all had to be washed before we could use them. Mugs also had food remnants in them. The oven was not clean either, both inside and out needed wiping and also the oven was asking for a clean cycle which we completed during our stay.

Weve spent a lovely four nights at Rose Cottage. It was in a fantastic location in walking distance into the high street of Windermere . Decorated to a very high standard. The beds were incredibly comfortable . The property was cleaned exceptionally well and we had all the things we needed in the property for preparing our meals, fantastic oven , I need to get one of those for our house !We enjoyed sitting outside the first night in the sunshine on the patio eating our dinner . Wonderful hot showers , washing machine and tumble drier. Very comfortable lounge. The only minor little faults we found, that didnt effect our holiday in any way, were that the kitchen bin lid was broken so needed to be open by hand and half the toaster didnt work. There was a coffee pod machine which would have been great to use, so maybe some pods in your lovely complimentary basket in the kitchen ? And we noticed the kitchen window had dropped with a gap which if it was chilly would create a draft . But honestly those negatives are me needing to be really picky ! The entire house was a delight to stay in and I would love to come back again ! Highly recommend for a family .
We loved Rose House! Absolutely beautiful house, perfect location and the play station went down a treat with the kids so thank you! Would definitely recommend this property and the great pub straight facing with a darts board was very convenient too all round great stay!
We had a fantastic stay at rose house this weekend. The house is brilliantly located in the middle of Windermere and Bowness. It is presented in a very high end manor while still being extremely comfortable and homely. Will defo be returning as we didnt want to leave. Can recommend highly.
