Highbank Reviews

Very practical and clean property, near to town and lake was a real bonus. Sufficient amount of crockery, cutlery and cooking pans etc made self catering very easy. Only concern was the very slow release of water from the bath, I assume the drainage beneath the bath requires a clear out, otherwise we were all very happy with the accommodation and will be recommending to our many friends who enjoy the lake district.
A fantastic property in a great location. Really pleased and probably the best place Ive stayed in the Lake District.
Carolyn
We had a lovely stay at Highbank. Everything you need for your stay. The beds were comfy. Location was perfect for a walk around Bowness and its surrounding area. On street parking was easy.
Property is in a great location for everything you need and a very large house which was great for party of 6 adults and 1 dog. On road parking was great and easy access to public transport. Well furnished and kitchen had everything we needed for a very enjoyable weekend. The property was very clean and comfortable beds and an added bonus large fluffy towels!! Would recommend to stay.
Although we enjoyed our stay, we felt that the property was a little tired and in need of a refresh. Parts of the house need attention, especially the flooring in the dining room. My mother tripped on the tape used as a quick repair . Also my mum had left her hearing aids at the property, so I tried to contact sykes to let them know through, telephone calls, email and text message, with no success. This is very poor customer service. It is extremely difficult to get in touch with anyone when you have a problem.
Adrienne
A fantastic property in a great location with everything that you could possibly need provided. We had a wonderful stay. I have already recommended it so a future booking could be on it's way. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks so much for making our weekend even more enjoyable.
Sheila
The property was perfect. Great location , loads of space for 6 people and extremely clean on arrival. The front room was a great space sat looking out of the big windows. I would definitely come back and recommend this property. 10 out of 10 and my little dog loved it too
Lovely house in a great location in Bowness, high standard of interior and cleanliness! Which is not always a given with pet friendly accommodation, safe secure yard for our dog, we loved our stay and would book again!
Wesley
Great property, undersold because it didn't seem to mention the off street parking which it does have. Sykes were really helpful and prompt especially considering we booked very late notice the morning of our arrival. Altogether wonderful house and experience. The one bad point which needs mentioning was the strong smell of cannabis in the main bedroom during the night and that neighbours were clearly smoking cannabis in their garden in the evenings, we wouldnt return for that reason but I understand not possible to control the behaviour of people in neighbouring properties.
Joanne
This was our second stay at highbank. We love this property and the location is perfect. The only thing negative and its a minor negative is the blinds in the third bedroom need to be black out blinds it too light
Frances
We had a wonderful stay at Highbank. The home was comfortable, cosy and warm. It felt like home from home! We would definitely go back again. We were disappointed that the washing machine was broken as my family travelled from the States and had limited clothing. This was only a minor detail though and I would highly recommend Highbank. a new frying pan wouldnt go amiss
Lindsay
As expected for the price and that it was a dog friendly house . We enjoyed our stay very much Thankyou.

This is our second year staying in the property on the same week. We will hesitate booking again only because the cleaning is inadequate. We know that the choice we have is restricted when we have a dog and we have to compromise but when paying 1100, expecting some cleanliness is not unreasonable. Please never go on 4 in a bed as they will have a field day. Dust on every ledge and in every corner. Heavy Cobwebs above fridge and in ensuite. Under and behind the sofas never hooved. Dog hairs under cushions in lounge. Top floor bedroom behind the bed side table there is a stain on the wall from a drink spillage which was there when we stayed last year. I could go on and provide photos but frankly it is clear and obvious and not good enough. I would suggest paying the cleaners to spend an extra hour each week and a proper deep clean at least twice a year.

Our 2nd visit to Highbank. We really like the location of this house as it is an easy stroll into Bowness and parking in the street outside or just around the corner in a nearby by street was always available. A clean, spacious house with a sunny courtyard style garden. The house comfortably accommodated us 4 adults and 1 infant, 1 dog and had facilities for the baby, high chair and travel cot, although a stair gate would have been good addition to the house we took our own.I would definitely recommend this accommodation.
Elizabeth
Lovely house with everything we needed. The house so so clean and comfortable. The little back garden was a lovely sun trap in the the evenings. Just a short walk from the banks of Windermere.
Michael
Thank you for a lovely break. We were a party of 5 adults and this property was a great size with all the amenities we could have asked for, in particular in the kitchen. Two ensuites and a house bathroom meant lots of privacy and the property was clean and tidy. Being a few minutes walk down into Bowness centre this house is excellently located and there was sufficient on street parking for 2 cars right outside the property. Thanks for a great stay.
Anthony Bernard
A Beautiful cottage perfect location rooms were spacious clean and welcoming. Everything was as it is in the web page . my only criticism is not with the cottage itself but with the arriving and leaving times . 10.00 is very early to have to depart the cottage and maybe 4.00 is a bit late for the arrival, especially considering parking in the Bowness area is always a difficult situation. That apart it was a fantastic weekend in a lovely cottage
Lovely comfortable and warm house with all the facilities that we needed for our stay in the Lakes. The only negative observation is that the toilet in the front 1st floor bedroom had an intermittent issue which meant that the cistern would autofill very noisily which was disturbing during the night. Possibly just needs a new cartridge.
Highbanks location is very convenient for Bowness. It is a very clean and very well fitted out, with all the comforts that you would expect from a 4 star rated accommodation. We loved staying there and would have no hesitation in returning. Thank you.
Lovely property in a fantastic location. Very clean property. Kitchen could do with a few more items please oven gloves, more saucepans, deep baking tray. Lots of cleaning products provided. However, it would have been nice to have a small welcome pack with some tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk. I would recommend this property and would stay again.
Our family spent a wonderful 5 days here in Bowness on Windermere. The house is ideally located for a 2 minute walk down to the lake and all the local shops etc and a 15 minute walk uphill into Bowness itself. The house was very clean, very well maintained and we felt very comfortable there as soon as we arrived. We were able to get parked outside every day. A great base for exploring the lakes and surrounding area! Would highly recommend Highbank.
Caroline
The location was great, the house is lovely and we had a brilliant stay. A couple of improvements would be black out curtains in the second and third bedroom, some shelving in the ensuite shower, fixing the screw that sticks up below the dining room door I kept standing on it. We also missed having a cafetire and pizza slice, but these are very small things and did not spoil our stay at all.
Kirsteen
Lovely house which is ideally situated for Bowness on Windermere and Windermere. Bowness on Windermere is approx 1015min walk down the hill. A quiet residential street. Parking is on street and spaces can be found but not necessarily outside the property but there is use of a garage if required. The property is cosy and well kitted out. Sitting room with ample seating and bedrooms comfortable. It has a long galley kitchen which has enough utensils tho maybe some kitchen scales would be helpful. I would say the only down side is I feel the property needs a far better secure back door and the front door could do with another lock. It is a lovely place to stay and would definitely recommend to anyone.
Lovely property and would def look at booking again. A shelf in the master bedroom ensuite over the sink for toiletries would be usefull
Brilliant property and perfect location. Will be going back again this year hopefully. Would highly recommend
Graham
Second time we have stayed at Highbank and enjoyed our stay again. Lovely house in a peaceful part of BoW but within easy walk of pubs, restaurants and great walks. New flooring in dining room and what looks like a new boiler show the owners commitment. A couple of things would be welcome though 1 a second door key, 2 set of drawers in the main bedroom it could use more storage please Will we be back? As long as its price competitive, we will definitely return.
Very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Great location with a short walk into Bowness. Enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it. Don't be put off by onstreet parking, we had no problem and there is a garage at the rear of the property if preferred.
Great cottage, great location. We really enjoyed our stay.
Joanne
This property was perfect for our family. Its very spacious but still has a cosy cottage feel. Location was ideal only a 5 minute walk into the centre where you will find and abundance of restaurants and shops. Would most definitely return.
Joanne
Cottage was nice, parking was a bit of an issue. Not quite enough glasses only 5 tumblers.
Very much enjoyed the stay. Lovely house and love the area, love the detailed dining room map
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. A beautiful house in an amazing area. Hopefully we will be back very soon!
Highbank is in a brilliant location in the centre of Bowness we never used the car once we arrived as we were able to do lots of walks from the cottage. We enjoyed the Jintana Thai Restaurant as well as the other eating establishments and there are plenty of shops to browse in.
Great place to stay, perfect location and we found Trattoria best place to eat. Wonderful walks just up Biskey Howe road to the viewpoint. Will highly recommend to friends and family, thanks.
A lovely place in a great location. Very homely and comfortable. We've been here for a week for a family celebration and have enjoyed every minute. Hope to be back again.
What a wonderful place! We've had a great time here in Bowness. This house is just perfect for families who hike and want to enjoy the beauty of the Lakes. The house is warm and homely and just what we needed after a walk on the hills. We'll definitely be back!
Fantastic Place in a great location everything you need is in the cottage
We loved the property as it just felt like home from home. everything you needed for a great safe catering holiday
