Ginger & Pickles Reviews

Great location with a view of Lake Windermere. Cosy, clean and well equipped and a relatively short, if steep walk up into Windermere. Would definitely book again.
A great stay at ginger and pickles the property is in a great location with fabulous views of the lake and beyond and great walks from the front door. The property was lovely and clean so would like to thank Gayle for a great job presenting the property. everything was very comfortable from the bed to the sofa and everything you could need in the kitchen enjoyed a great week at ginger and pickles and will definitely book this amazing property again. Gary
Lovely cosy little apartment. Warm, comfortable and well equipped. Modern kitchen with everything you could need. Perfect for the Windermere area.
This was our second stay at Ginger and pickles. It's a lovely place to stay and we feel completely chilled when we're there. Well equipped with kitchen utensils, crockery and has a lovely fridge freezer. Can't wait to come again and thankyou for the welcome biscuits and bubbles.
Andrew
The holiday cottage was excellent as expected. Appreciated the bubbles crisps and biscuits left for us and the view to lake Windermere was excellent
Lovely stay at Ginger and Pickles! The chalet is very well maintained spotlessly clean and has everything you could need. The kitchen was very smart and lovely to be able to sit inside or out and enjoy the views. The sofa area and bedroom weee very comfortable and the shower was fab. Cannot fault this place. The mooring was also a bonus! Loved it all

Ginger & Pickles . .. We couldn't of asked for more, inside was spotless, extremely well equipped with everything you could need. We found the bed to be really comfy, and the pillows were lovely. And then there is the view. Just stunning. We have to say this is possibly the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in. I wouldn't hesitate in re booking if we visit the lakes in the future.
This cottage was immaculate, it had every item you would need although took us 5 minutes to find the cutlery draw. It was lovely and modern inside. The views from the windows were stunning, loved sitting outside watching the boats on the lake We have to pick our holidays carefully due to my illness, the only thing I couldn't have counted for was the shape of the toilet, I have to use a seat raiser which doesn't fit to a square toilet so that caused me pain. But all said we had a fantastic holiday at Ginger and Pickles.
What a lovely place to stay! Great views of the lake. Opened the blinds one morning to find a deer grazing outside. Bus service was easy to use and took us to lots of places. Bus stop near to the cottage. We would go back.
Christopher
A great location. The property was very well equipped for two people, very clean and well looked after. We would stay there again and recommend it to others. We had a really enjoyable holiday there. The only adverse comment we would make is that the shower would benefit from draining a little quicker.
We had a great break at the cottage. We will definitely be booking again. It's a beautiful, clean and relaxing space. Really well designed to make the most of the space. Super wellequipped it had everything we needed.
Rebecca
A small but perfectly formed apartment which has been decorated and furnished to a high standard. Lovely attention to detail, with coat hooks above the radiator, a mat to house muddy boots and FOUR Alexa pods! Wellequipped kitchen with plenty of pans, cutlery, crockery and glasses but only two small mugs for teacoffee and only one oven glove. The view from the front is wonderful and the location is great for the lake and good for both Windermere and Bowness, as long as youre happy to walk a little way. The car park and lane are VERY dark at night so make sure to take a torch. The owner was easy to contact and really helpful both before and during our stay. Overall we had a wonderful time at Ginger & Pickles and would definitely stay again. We will also be recommending it to others!
We had a really lovely holiday and enjoyed all aspects of the cottage. We certainly plan to return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ginger and Pickles. The cottage had everything we needed, was warm and comfortable with a lovely view of Windermere beyond the trees in the grounds. We made full use of the excellent regular bus service which runs from Bowness to Grasmere every 20 minutes. The bus stop is about 250 yds from the cottage so much easier than trying to find a parking space in nearby villages. The steep slope from the car park to the cottage and up to the road could be a problem to those with mobility problems but they are only short slopes.
Austin
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ginger & Pickles. Clean, warm and comfortable. We would make 2 small points. Firstly, a small step stool would be useful for shorter people to reach items on the top shelves of the cupboards my wife is only 4ft 11 inches. Secondly, as the hob is an induction hob it might be useful to state that people with pacemakers must not go near it. As said, we thought that the property was in a nice position with a view of Windermere. Very pleasant and convenient to visit the whole area.
Shelia
Lovely property. With fantastic views. Everything you could need. Would go again.
Beautiful little cottage with amazing views of Windermere. We had a lovely week. We did have a problem figuring out how to use the hob but that was our only issue. We will definitely be booking again and the biscuits, crisps and bubbles we a lovely touch, thankyou.
Frances
The cottage and surrounding grounds are perfect. The cottage is fantastic fitted out to a very high standard. Very comfortable bed. Shower amazing. Everything you need the Welcome treat was lovely! The view down through the garden to the lake is magical. We spent time down at the private jetty on the lake it was brilliant. A dip in the lake was just great. Perfect place Thank you
Dennis
Ginger and Pickles is a wonderful little place. Ideal for two. Situated in a lovely spot with a short walk taking you to shore of Lake Windermere. Accommodation is spotless and comfortable. The owner Sarah was very helpful and responsive. We would certainly return.
We enjoyed our stay in what is a very comfortable cottage, which is well equipped and in a good location for access to local buses very busy main road. The provision of smart speakers with daily weather forecast notifications was novel and a useful addition. Thanks for the bottle of prosecco to kick start our holiday.
Lovely little cottage with everithing we needed
This is such a lovely little apartment come cottage we have now stayed twice. Everything 2 people need for a week stay....lovely view and really welcoming approach by owners. Lovely touches like bottle of fizz and snacks. Very comfy bed nice and firm and great shower.
Pauline
The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived at the cottage. We were given clear instructions for heating etc prior to arrival and instructions for appliances were inside the TV cabinet. We read the visitor guide and walked down through the little wooded track listening to the birdsong. The view at the edge of the lake is well worth the leisurely 10 mins stroll down from the car park.
Dereck
This is a recently thoughtfully and tastefully renovated and equipped apartment done to a high standard. The location is on a steep slope in the grounds of an old manor and is one of about 15 attached apartments, in 2 rows, with this one on the top row. The grounds and properties are well maintained and there is a splendid view across the Lake. My wife has some mobility issues and the parking area is some 50 m down the slope, making for a few challenges. However , the quality of the accommodation more than makes up for this. Thoroughly recommend.
As previous reviewers have said, the cottage is perfect for two, wonderful location and views, while being close to public transport and a short walk to Windermere centre. Equipment and fittings are first rate and the heating system easy to control. We certainly plan to return in the near future.
Joanne
The cottage was warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. Lovely and modern with very clean lines. The bed was comfortable and the shower was brilliant. The kitchen was very well equipped and a bottle of prosecco was very much appreciated. Everything was explained clearly both before we arrived and at the cottage. The location is great for walking access to other places. Can't fault anything we had a really restful weekend. Thank you.
Andrew
The cottage was very well presented, very modern and had everything required for a lovely stay. We found it very quiet and relaxing with lovely view of the lake. We also enjoyed the welcoming gifts. We would happily stay again.
Graham
Excellent first class property, its clean comfortable and almost luxurious. One small criticism, I would have liked to have control of the heating during the nights when it was only 3C outside.
Super accommodation very modern with up to date equipment , location is excellent with great views over the lake . Really glad we made this choice.
It may be helpful to provide clear instructions on how to operate shower in bathroom with particular reference to how to avoid switching on soaker head accidentally if this is not required.
Gaynor
Wow fabulous cottage for two! Beautiful views and setting, also very easy to find in addition its very central for visiting all the sights. The cottage is very moderncomfortable and had everything you could possibly want. We arrived to an immaculately clean place smelling wonderful and a great touch of a welcoming pack containing milk, Prosecco, biscuits and crisps waiting for us. Hand soap provided in the kitchen and bathroom along with washing up liquid, tea towels, bathroom towels and bedding already on the bed. Also there was a really good hairdryer, which I wasnt expecting to be available. I would have liked a recycling bin to go along side the general waste bin, and there is no washing machine but these are minor issues. Lovely walk down to the Jetty and shore area which was a great place to sit and watch what was happening on the lake. As others have said there is a very steep incline up to the cottage from the parking area rubbish area. This was slippery in the wet so you had to be careful. There are some lovely walks from the cottage if you dont want to drive or get the bus. The Windermere museum is just down the road, where we enjoyed a lovely lunch and a trip on lake on one of their restored boats. We will definitely be back to stay at Ginger & Pickles! Thank you very much. X
Kathryn
Lovely property, wonderful location just as described. There was everything we could have needed the furnishings and contents were all of a high standard and it was a wonderful base for us exploring the central lakes area. An added bonus was the easy access to the buses, greatly recommended to save the hassle and cost of parking in Grasmere and Keswick. The one thing to note it is mentioned in the property description is the parking space down the hill from the property. If you are considerate of others, it is possible to unload at the end of the terrace then move into your parking space. Quiet, well furnished and a wonderful location...we loved it. Thank you.
Absolutely loved staying here! Such a wonderful base for exploring the Lake District. It was so wonderful to come back from hikes to such a gorgeous, relaxing, modern, cosy cottage. On arrival the place was so clean, bathroom smelt fresh and clean. There was some milk and a bottle of Prosecco left in the fridge for us and some snacks by the tv. Very thoughtful and welcoming. Big windows that let the light into the living space. The place had a lovely, thoughtful design and layout to it. The Kitchen provided everything we needed so we could cook for ourselves. So much thought and detail has gone in to creating this lovely cottage. Thank you so much for providing us with such a beautiful place to stay. I really hope to be able to stay here again.
Leslie
The cottage is in a quiet area with amazing views and wildlife in the grounds. It is a short walk to windermere village . The cottage is compact but very comfortable and a perfect base for a lake district holiday. We were very grateful for the little extras provided by the owner. Only down side for us is that it is not dog friendly and we normally bring our dog with us.
An outstanding base for a wonderful week exploring the lakes. The accommodation is just perfect for a couple, it is a modern, newly refurbished place, equipped with all you will ever need. Also, just so quiet, and peaceful with great views of the lake. In terms of location for Windermere and Bowness, both perfectly accessible on foot but as others have mentioned, busses from the main road take you all over for a mere couple of pounds, much cheaper than all that parking.
The cottage was amazing, high spec and extremely comfortable. The surrounding area was outstanding, so beautiful. Would definitely visit again!!
Alison
Lovely cottage with excellent facilities and great view of Lake Windermere. Easy access to Bowness, Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick by open top bus which stops just around the corner from the cottage. Lovely welcome pack much appreciated. We enjoyed a fabulous week walking, boating and relaxing in, on and around the lakes.
This is the perfect cottage for two! It really does have everything. The fixtures and fittings are all top notch, comfortable bed and sofa, great shower etc, absolutely nothing missing from the kitchen. The grounds are very well tended and lovely to walk around. You can walk into Windermere for supplies or eatingdrinking out. The bus stops at the top of the main road will take you anywhere in the central lakes, no need to drive unless you want to. All this and the view of the lake and jetty access just puts a Cherry on top
Angela
Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. Peaceful setting with amazing views of the lake. All facilities in the property well thought out. I would highly recommend & would return in a heartbeat. To the owner, well done & thank you for the Tyrells crisps & bubbles, just perfect!
Immaculate property, high end kitchen appliances, modern tastefully decorated throughout. Welcome pack, a nice touch. View from window amazing, would recommend without hesitation.
