Bowness-on-Windermere is 5 minutes away with World of Beatrix Potter attraction. The property has WiFi and multiple TVs. Ground floor bedrooms suit families with young children needing accessibility.
For Couples
High Lindeth works better for groups than couples due to its size. The five-bedroom property is designed for family gatherings rather than romantic breaks. The countryside setting offers excellent walking opportunities from the doorstep. Nearby footpaths connect to Lake District trails. The property sits in quiet surroundings away from busy roads.

High Lindeth Reviews

George
The house itself was beautiful, but given the cost of the property and the time of year we visited, there were a few small things missing that proved quite inconvenient. For example, when we ordered wood which I do think should really be provided at no extra cost, especially given the woodland setting, it arrived with no matches, firelighters, kindling, or anything to actually start the fire. Another surprising omission was the lack of basic kitchen essentials like salt and pepper. These might seem like small details, but they really affected the enjoyment of our evening and our stay.
We had the most enjoyable 2night stay at High Lindeth for a family anniversary celebration. Its in an ideal location, close to BownessonWindermere. Excellent communal spaces and very well equipped, great for a big group. Beautifully decorated and modern amenities. Would highly recommend.

High Lindeth was a perfect location to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday. Everyone commented on how beautiful and picturesque the house and area is. We walked into bowness once but got a taxi back as up hill. We would definitely recommend to anyone wanting somewhere to accommodate a large party. Thank you

We were all very impressed with High Lindeth. It is a lovely old house set in pretty gardens, surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is only a short car journey, or half hour walk, away from Bowness. It has plenty of space for a large group & it was an ideal place for us to spend our family holiday. The beds were extremely comfortable & the house very well equipped with everything we needed. We all had a wonderful time!

What a beautiful property! Our issue with lack of hot water on arrival was sorted following morning, and Sykes were on it and kept us informed as soon as the issue was raised. Our worries about accessible entry for our 2 disabled ladies were quashed on arrival as the 2nd door under the balcony has a slope to it, and not steps as it appears on the photos. The hiuse was very clean on arrival. The beds are extremely comfy, and the kitchen well equipped. We were sadly unable to use the beautiful upstairs lounge as a group, as 2 of our party are not able to get upstairs. There is a lack of comfy seating downstairs, only the mustard wingback chair which was ideal for my 91 yr old disabled Mom, the rest of us sat round the kitchen table. The downstairs wet room with underfloor heating was great but could do with a couple of grab rails by the shower and one by the loo to make it better for disabled people to use safely. There was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us on the table when we arrived, crisps, biccies, prosecco, elderflower cordial. There was handwash in every bathroom and a large bottle of washing up liquid in the big kitchen.

We have just returned from a weekend at high Lindeth and we wish we could have stayed for much longer. The cottage is beautiful, it is exceptionally clean and well maintained. We had a private chef come to dine for us on our first night and he was very impressed with how well the kitchen was kitted out. We emailed for firewood on the first night and when we woke up in the morning it was waiting outside the front door, which was brilliant, thank you. Were all hoping to come back and stay for longer in the future.

Lovely place very spacious ideal for a party of people. Quirky old fashioned vibe. Only negatives were lack of enough toilet roll and check in at 4 is too late and check out of 10 is definitely too early. Would go back again though especially if checkout was 11 or better still 12

Beautiful house in stunning grounds. Bedrooms and upstairs TV room extremely comfortable. Only 5 min drive to BownessonWindermere and taxis are very available and reasonably. Kitchen is full of every necessity needed cooking for a large group family. A welcome basket would have been nice.
A wonderful property that suited our family mix very well. Everyone said the beds were extremely comfortable and the linen was excellent quality. The kitchen was well equipped, but the presentation of the utensils and electric appliances were a bit chaotic. We all needed hand soap, but there was none throughout the property. Also, the provision of a small starter quantity at least of salt, pepper and washing up liquid would have been appreciated. Finally, the supply of dishwasher tablets was less than adequate. The WiFi signal was extremely variable, which caused a problem for one of our party who needed to do some work otherwise it was not an issue. We enjoyed our stay tremendously, the property was fabulous, Id totally recommend it to anyone thank you
The property was exactly as described. The kitchen was well equipped. There was more than enough crockery and cutlery for the 9 of use who stayed. The beds were comfortable and the bed linen and towels were very clean. Bathrooms are modern and clean. There were plenty of sofas and chairs, however a couple of them are a little tired. It is the lakes and we did have rain the ceiling in the bedroom at the far end of the building on the ground floor let in the rain and we had to put a bucket in the room to collect the water. The gutters look as though they needed cleaning so this may be a simple fix. There was ample parking for our 3 cars. We had a great stay and we would definitely book High Lindeth again.

We loved the house and being secluded in the countryside. The public footpath isn't a big issue, we had a few people pass the house but that was it. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen had loads of space. Could do with a few more large glasses for enjoying big drinks! Overall and beautiful setting and the most relaxing weekend!
High Lindeth was a lovely holiday cottage in a beautiful setting. Very quiet and well placed for access to Bowness on Windermere be it on foot or a short car journey. The facilities in the house were great with everything that you would need to enjoy your stay. The only thing that was missing was medium size glasses to drink water juice etc. The glasses that were there were very small. Apart from that everything was great and we really enjoyed our stay.
Excellent property, perfect location. Constructive feedback would be as we had dogs we were limited to spending most of our time in the spacious kitchen. Whilst lovely it would have been nice to have had a settee or more comfortable chairs to relax in however this did not distract from our stay. We will be back!
A super house. We had seven family members staying and it was just perfect. The house was amazing and had everything we could need. Whilst the weather was not fab during our stay, the location was perfect for good walks each day. I would highly recommend, and we would certainly stay again when we are back next.

We had a fabulous family weekend at High Lindeth for my 60th birthday celebrations 7 adults, 1 child, 1 baby, 1 dog . The house was immaculate throughout. Lovely comfy beds and plenty of towels provided. The central heating and log burners made the house warm throughout. Well equipped kitchen and gorgeous upstairs living room with log burner. Garden and scenery was beautiful . Just a short drive to Windermere. We couldnt fault our weekend and would definitely return and recommend this beautiful house
We had a wonderful holiday . The house is beautiful and was perfect for us as a large family. We especially loved the large lounge , the balcony and the little enclosed garden which was perfectly safe for the dogs . The kitchen was very well equipped our only thought as a family was that the freezer was quite small but two fridges and two dishwashers amazing . The location was fantastic in the middle of beautiful countryside but only a short drive or a beautiful walk to Bowness and Windermere. I have already recommended the cottage to friends and would consider it as a location for retreats .
George
High Lindeth was spacious and comfortable and extremely well equipped. The location is excellent for a peaceful getaway. Our collective families of adultschildrenspaniels enjoyed a wonderful stay, with plenty of activities for everyone close at hand. 1 small point to address is a water leak in the downstairs large bedroom.
Jonathan
Lovely place . .. no quibbles.
Sharon
Fabulous house in beautiful location to celebrate 80th birthday with family & dogs. Although dogs welcome should note that they are only allowed in part of the downstairs where there are no armchairs x2 chairs in games room but these are not comfortable for more than short time. As we were there with my elderly dad celebrating his birthday we were then most of stay on dining chairs and never sat in the gorgeous sitting room. Would benefit from armchairs in the downstairs if you take dogs to be more comfortable. Only tiny washing up liquid provided and no kitchen spraysurface cleaner for wiping up cloth was 1 disposable cloth. With larger group would be better to have supplies to support wiping up etc. also note hand soap not provided in toiletbathrooms looked like previous guests may have left some but to know you need to take your own soapkitchen rolltoilet roll etc would be helpful. We still had a lovely weekend but the feedback may inform future guests to go prepared.
The property was exactly as the photos looked, gorgeous! The land and surrounding area was outstanding and not far from town or restaurants at all. We all really enjoyed ourselves! Due to the large size of the house, some floors were not as clean as others but understandable in the wet weather. We felt its a shame there was no basic foodscondiments in the kitchen ie, salt, pepper, tea, soap, and think this could be an easy small change for the property which would make a positive impact. The beds are incredibly comfortable too! Overall, highly recommend.
Andrew
We had a great holiday at High Lindeth. The location is lovely yet just a few minutes from Bowness. The accommodation was clean, warm and comfortable with plenty of board games etc for the days when the Lake District weather does its thing. The lock box is a bit tricky to find, especially on arrival on the back of the post by the middle of the three doors that says High Lindeth on it. Also, it might be nice to have a folder of local activities, cafes, restaurants etc that you recommend. Thanks for a great stay.
Chris & Tina
Fantastic property, loved the location and the grounds of the house. 7 of us stayed for a long weekend and had so much fun. we had a chef for one night that worked really well with the open kitchen. The only improvement would be a separate towel and hand soap in the bathrooms and toilet freshener especially in the downstairs bathroom by the kitchen as it was used by us all. In the kitchen a small welcome pack of coffeetea would have been helpful until our Tesco shop arrived. Although we had a very small dishwasher washing up pack it wasn't appropriate for the amount of guests Otherwise Lovely property, Thank you
Andrew
Hired this property for a family get together to celebrate a special birthday. The location of the property is to die for, lovely and peaceful. The property is amazing, had a fabulous week, we ordered a couple of bags of logs from Ben and although we lit the lounge fire a couple of nights, we didnt need to for the heat as the lounge was warm enough, we lit the fire for the sight and smell of a real fire. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and there are plenty of pots, pans, cutlery etc. All in all, we had a great time at the property, if there was one fly in the ointment it was the kitchen and the bedroom above the kitchen was much cooler than the rest of the house. Apart from that, it was great and would recommend this property to my friends and family.
A well equipped and delightful property which we would recommend to anyone. Just a few niggles with the management of the property. which we hope that the Owners will find constructive 1 Key safe Arrived in the dark, and couldn't find it. Fortunately H.O.L helped out. The location description is wrong. Try this Locate the middle door the one with High Lindeth above it. The safe is on the back of the right hand Balcony support post.Better still. why not put the safe at the front of the pillar where it can be seen!! 2. Hair dryers We asked in advance whether Dryers were provided and were tole NO. Our ladies brought 3 with them, which made a total of 7 when added to the 4 we found on the bedrooms!! 3. Green Dot Emergency lights. In the main with ensuite bedroom, one of the Green dot lights had failed and had been replace with a full light which was on all the time. This had been taped over with gaffer tape, but flickering light escaping round the edge kept us awake on the first night. A call to H.O.L led to the light being disconnected. Other bulbs in this system don't appear to be working a full safety check tis needed. 4. Logs We enquired about supply of Logs and were given a number by H.O.L. On ringing we found that the man had retired. He gave us a number for for maintenance who supplied us with logs. The number is NOT the one given in the H.O.L. book. 5 Dustbins The H.O.L book contains one page saying bins are collected on Wednesday and another one saying Thursday. 6. H.O.L Book. The text in this book needs revising and updating

Myself and my family of 7 stayed with you for 3 days from the 1st September. We were together to scatter my twin sister ashes on Lake Windermere to be near her husband. We could not have stayed at a more delightful place, you have made this such a treasured memory for us all. Thank you. Beverley Le Good.
It was a welcome return to High Lindeth after our Christmas visit. Whilst it was VG then, it was excellent this time as we had no unexpected visitors. Location is wonderful, quiet and well away from the hustle and bustle of Bowness etc. All the family loved it and we had a super time. Would recommend it to anyone and our thanks to the owner for the bottle of Champagne.

Precious lamps and heating not working in part of the house. An odd layout to get used to, and worth mentioning uneven steps a potential hazard for children and elderly. Otherwise a lovely comfortable and spacious property with the quirky seclusion we hoped for, and we had a wonderful holiday in an area we know well.
The property was in a beautiful location very peaceful. The facilities were excellent for a large family group. The kitchen facilities were particularly good enabling us to cater for large numbers easily. The upstairs lounge was great for socialising and the bedroom and bathroom facilities were also very good. We came to High Lindeth for a family get together and the house delivered for us all

Fabulous holiday with three generations including 4 teenagers! Huge lounge and space throughout the house for everyone to lose yourself if you wanted. The conversion of this old property was beautifully done and was always cosy with instant hot water. The kitchen was well equipped and we all now want an ice machine. We really did not want to leave and was the best family holiday ever.
Our family stayed at High Lindeth for a week what a pleasure ! We love this property, it was so quirky. The bedrooms are SO comfortable, bathrooms very modern instant hot water every time. The property was immaculately clean throughout. The layout of the large living room was so user friendly for 3 generations the photos on the web site do not do this room justice it is so much better. Also very well supplied with games, jigsaw, local maps etc. The kitchen is well equipped with good quality utensils, there was nothing that it lacked and we cooked all 7 nights. Ben, the logman, made 2 deliveries for us, each time within the hour. Sykes were very helpful when we had a power cut due to the windy storms and they kept us informed of the situation. The only thing I would have liked to see was the history of this lovely old house. There must be so many stories it could tell. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this lovely comfortable property. We loved it. Elaine
High Lindeth was exactly as expected and we loved its quirkiness with the upstairs lounge and the down stairs kitchen, the latter being at the other end of the long property. This reflected the cottage and barn conversion of years ago. Whilst the property was presentable we are not sure that the property had been deep cleaned. This was due to the fact we had additional and unwanted guests Mice. Whilst we are country folk and live in a semi rural location so are faced with this pest regularly, we did not expect them in the lounge the beige light coloured sofa had many mice dirts on it and it looked like they were nesting in it. In addition they had meals from Xmas presents around the tree. Similarly, in the kitchen where they ran amok and whilst we left very little uncovered, if we did, we paid the price. We had to clean the work surfaces every day and cover all cutlery at night to stop them going all over them and make sure everything was spotless. Would we rent the property again Yes without hesitation.
Catherine
What a wonderful property in a fantastic location. We were a party of 8 on a much needed break. There is plenty of room to take yourself off and have your own space, very important for us. The dogs were in heaven, footpath at the side of the property if you dont want to venture out with the car. We were unfortunate to catch the end of storm Arwen, trees down around and when we got there no electric on still. We had logs in the car so lit the fires and were assured it would come on in a couple of hours which it did. The owners couldnt do enough, checking we were ok and supplying us with logs from the farm. This all added to the adventure!! Would not hesitate to book again, once again thank you to Emma and Christophe.
High Lindeth is a beautiful house, in a beautiful setting. We stayed there with two dogs, who loved exploring the gardens the enclosed garden off the kitchen was also very useful for night time toilet trips as it does it get very dark at night! The house was very clean, and met all my expectations. Its very close to Bowness, a 5 mins drive or a 30 min walk, although the walk is a little hilly. Luckily enough to be situated walking distance from Henrock which was definitely an added bonus! We were unable to locate any fuel for the fires upon arrival, which the welcome pack says there is, nor able to connect the smart TV to WiFi to access Netflix these were our only hiccups though, and although we bought and left quite a bit of wood, we didnt need it in the end as we had surprise glorious weather for our stay! High Lindeth is a really gorgeous place, wouldnt hesitate to recommend. Thanks!
Ashley
